How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Daniel and I met at an Eid party, the day before he left for law school in Austin. We stayed in touch online, but it wasn't until he invited me to his law school prom that we started to develop feelings. We began a long distance relationship for the next few years, and I knew he was "the one" since we didn't let a 3-hour drive stop us from nurturing and growing our love. Long distance relationships are tough, but knowing that you have someone so special waiting for you and supporting you makes it all worth it.
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I knew that I wanted to wear a red lehenga for my shaadi, but it was my gaye holud outfit that took me by surprise. I chose to wear a sari to stay close to my Bengali roots. I also knew I didn't want to look like the traditional bride on her holud day. We found this beautiful multicolored sari, and I was in love! The burnt orange, olive green, and jewel toned purple dazzled brilliantly in our gaye holud outfits.
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part of the process was spending time with my mom and planning out everything together. It brought us much closer together. I was able to see how everything was so meaningful and precious to her, and since I am the first and only daughter on her side of the family, it made this wedding very special for my family.
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
My guests really enjoyed the wedding decorations and the stage setup. I did not want any draping, and one of my guests even said she had never seen anything like my stage before. Dream Decors set up the perfect ambiance and truly made me feel like I stepped into a fairytale wedding.
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Our first dance was a very memorable moment. I've never really been much of a dancer, but my husband loves to dance. I remember being so nervous standing in the middle of a room with over 300 people in it and having to slow dance. We had only practiced our dance a couple of times and didn't take into account how heavy the dress would be. I remember feeling a sense of calm as the song started playing since I knew that I could trust him to make us look uncoordinated and graceful.
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Do not stress about the details and enjoy your day. Remind yourself that this is a once in a lifetime experience and don't let "little things" bother you. Remind yourself that you have the best big thing: the love of your husband.
Thank you Nusrat! Another day, another fab Indian wedding! We'll see you all bright and early tomorrow morning!
