How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Once upon a time there was a beautiful summer wedding. The cousin of the bride was ushered inside and as she entered, she caught sight of a handsome green-eyed boy, and the rest as they say is history.
Sohil and Neha met three years ago and were instantly drawn to each other. After a little stalking on Facebook and a bit of courage, Sohil worked up the nerve to say hello to her. He was nervous, she was shy but the two were meant to be. Although they were hundreds of miles apart (Neha lives in Houston, Texas and Sohil lives in Detroit, Michigan), they always stayed in contact. They could talk about anything and often times their conversations lasted into the late hours of the night, watching the sunrise together but on opposite sides of the country.
Their parents were always in favor of them getting together. However, they were hundreds of miles apart, they both had their own lives, how would that even happen? See, that's the funny thing, God has His own way of doing things. In June 2015 after a year of talking, they realized they had something there, it was something that they couldn't deny anymore. And so Sohil officially asked her to be his girlfriend and they finally declared their feelings for each other. In December 2016, Sohil asked Neha to be his forever, and without any hesitation she said yes to that handsome green-eyed boy.
But of course, this isn't the end of their story. It's only the beginning of a beautiful new chapter. So, to end the story with something as cliché as "the end" does not seem right, instead we'll end it with another cliché...one more suitable...
And they lived happily ever after.
Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Sohil proposed to Neha on December 29, 2016 (on their anniversary) after dating for exactly 1.5 years. Neha woke up in the morning to find flowers on her doorstep with a card asking her to go to her favorite hair salon. There was a car waiting to take her there. She got to the salon where they did her hair and make up and handed her a new dress, shoes, and jewelry to put on. They also handed her a card telling her to get back in the car where she was driven to the McGovern Centennial Gardens. She walked into the garden area where there was a bunch of balloons spelling out "Marry Me?". Sohil was waiting for her next to a blanket and picnic basket. He got down on one knee, promised to always keep her happy and asked her to spend the rest of his life with her. She said yes without any hesitation. The best part is everything was caught on camera.
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I did all of my wedding shopping in Dubai, UAE and Mumbai, India. I spent over a month there finalizing jewelry and designers. At the end, I chose Gavin Miguel because he was able to combine both American and Indian styles and make the perfect gown for me.
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
The food and venues were a huge hit. We had a pani puri station, dosa station, and various other live stations, including a brisket station and dessert station.
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Despite the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey, our 6 day wedding was postponed by one week. We are still shocked on how everyone worked together to make our wedding successful and made sure we didn't lose any vendors or venues. Our wedding was large and our guests still attended despite the date change on such a short notice. We rescheduled the wedding one day before it was suppose to start. We had 400 guests at the sangeet and 600 guests at the reception.
So gorg! See you all bright and early tomorrow with another fab wedding!
