How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
I had just transferred to Northside Hospital from Palms of Pasadena Hospital in St Petersburg, Florida. As many of us know, when starting a new job you usually find yourself heading to the HR office. As I was picking up my badge two other people came in behind me. One of these two people was Aneesh. Unfortunately, a slight misunderstanding ensued with human resources where they may have thought I was a felon and questioned me about this which was awkward. Definitely, not a felon people. As some of you know, I speak with my hands (OFTEN) so naturally I swung an arm into a tree of papers. Which resulted in papers going EVERYWHERE. Literally, in that moment I was so embarassed. Might as well introduce yourself, right? So, I did. This led to him introducing himself hilariously in my opinion. He said, "My name is Aneesh, I am a physician".
From that great first encounter, it would only naturally make sense that our love story would continue to have laughs! I had transitioned to day shifts (2 months later) and started seeing this doctor more and more. Every time I saw him, I found myself teasing him more and more. Then one day, I was floated to CVICU. I remember I was working "the wall" as I called it and had a patient who had not had a bowel movement yet and this was holding up his discharge. Aneesh was the resident doctor following for this patient. So he rounded by personally every time I paged him to discuss new orders, amongst other things. He gave me milk of mag, stool softeners, miralax, mag citrate, and ultimately had me give the patient a fleet enema. This patient and I were teasing about how much the doctor wanted him to poop. Later, it was the patient who stated, "You know that doctor isn't coming around for me. He is coming to flirt with you. Honestly, he should ask you out already and stop worrying about my bowels". I burst out laughing and told Aneesh what the patient said. Aneesh responded by taking my phone and plugging his number in. He then asked me out for a date.
It didn't take me or my sweet puppy Spencer long to fall for Aneesh. From the goofy socks he wore, to his kindness, the way he treated his patients, and how lovable he was with my puppy, I could not have been gifted a better partner. Often, he would come tease me and leave oatmeal or coffee for me while I was in a patient's room. Its amazing how life works, when you least expect it, love finds you. It didn't take long for us to become an item after that. We did our absolute best to keep it under wraps at work, but due to an investigative pharmacist the cat was sprung out the bag a few months later.. Therefore, we because the cliche Doctor-Nurse couple!
Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
On July 21 of 2017, we headed to Savannah, Georgia for a vacation and planned to stay at the this bed and breakfast we had previously gone to and loved. We had gone bicycling through Savannah and were enjoying our day in the city when Aneesh casually informed me he had made reservations at the Historic Old Pink House for dinner. We had discussed in the past going there as Aneesh is a foodie so this had made the list. We were getting ready to go to the restaurant when he told me he wanted to take a walk in Pulaski Square first. Mind you I thought he was crazy as it was 90 degrees outside with about the same humidity, but he was persistent. I noticed in the car on the way there he was talking a lot more then usual and seemed antsy. As we were walking, I was looking around and all of a sudden there he was down on one knee. Aneesh proceeded to ask the one question I had been dying to hear. After saying yes and hugging, I looked over as I saw a man with a camera heading our way. The perfect addition to our proposal was his surprise proposal engagement photo session.
