Plymouth, MI Indian Wedding by Urban Phulkari

That's right! When you know, you know, and sometimes that means your future husband is thinking about long-term investments before you're even officially dating. This couple's journey from a chance meeting in Los Angeles to their breathtaking wedding in Michigan is nothing short of magical, with surprises, stunning decor, and dance performances that could rival Bollywood's best.

From the moment guests stepped into Nirali & Varun's wedding weekend, it was clear this was no ordinary celebration. Marigold Wedding Planners transformed each venue into a dreamscape, blending elegance with personal touches that made the weekend unforgettable. Whether it was the ethereal forest decor theme or the seamless execution of events, every detail reflected the couple's love story and vision.

The wedding ceremony occurred at St. John's Resort, with the Garden Pavilion offering a 360-degree view of Michigan's crisp autumn beauty. The sunlight streaming through the glass walls illuminated Nirali's custom Frontier Raas bridal lengha—a breathtaking ivory-white ensemble with rose gold accents that shimmered with every step she took.

Their sangeet & reception at Suburban Showplace set the tone for the festivities, with vibrant decor and performances from friends who had once been part of college dance teams. (Think: a full-fledged Bollywood showdown meets Punjabi and Gujarati fusion—because why settle for one when you can have both?) The reception brought the festivities to a grand finale, featuring an electrifying set from DJ Rohit Goswamy that kept the dance floor packed all night. And because no epic wedding weekend is complete without delicious food, Punjab Indian Cuisine and Krishna Catering delivered a feast with guests raving long after the plates were cleared.

The artistry didn't stop at decor—Amanie Mokdad and Simona Vigh worked their magic, ensuring Nirali looked flawless through every event. Her hair and makeup were always on point, from soft glam to bold bridal. And let's not forget Urban Phulkari, the genius behind cinematography and photography, who captured every laugh, tear, and twirl in breathtaking detail. Their cinematography wasn't just about recording moments—it was about storytelling. Every frame was meticulously crafted to reflect the couple's emotions, from the nervous excitement before the first look to the joyous energy on the dance floor.

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
We met at a party when I was visiting Los Angeles. He somehow knew my older brother and sister-in-law from across the country, but we had never met. We went on three dates within 5 days of meeting, and when I went back to the other side of the country, we kept talking and meeting every month for 5 months. I knew he was the one when he attended my graduate school graduation via Zoom, and he gifted me money to open a Roth IRA before we even officially dating. We started dating a few weeks later, and in less than 2 years, we were engaged.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
We were supposed to meet our friends for a double date at the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, where we had our second date. I was actually asking him when he was going to propose 15 minutes before he actually got down on one knee. I genuinely had no idea! The surprises continued all night as our friends and family joined us in celebrating at the same club we first met at in Los Angeles.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Planning our wedding was a full combined family effort as we were planning a wedding in my home state of Michigan while living in California. I have to give my husband a shout-out because the whole process would’ve been much more difficult without his negotiating and planning skills.

I dreamt of a unique wedding venue that was different than all the ones I have typically seen in metro Detroit. Tina from Marigold Planners heard our families' wishes and helped us find the perfect wedding venue at Saint John’s Resort in Plymouth, MI, about an hour away from where I grew up. The Garden Pavilion, in my opinion, was perfect for someone seeking a simple but elegant canvas for a wedding. The 360 glass walls of the pavilion allowed guests to enjoy the beautiful fall morning in Michigan.

For my wedding shopping, I didn’t have the time to go to India myself for shopping so I did all my shopping from online or through the help of family in India.

My hair and make up were on point the whole weekend, thanks to Simona Vigh (hair) and Amanie Mokdad (make up). I wanted something different for each look and trusted the artists to do their job and they did a phenomenal job.

For our wedding decor theme, we chose an ethereal forest theme.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I had always wanted an off-white wedding dress. I had seen a dress at Frontier raas in different materials and colors and got a custom dress made from them in an ivory-white color. When I saw the dress for the first time, I was in awe of the stunning, intricate designs and handwork and unique rose gold color accents. I couldn’t hide the details of my outfits from my fiancé, so I wanted to surprise him with at least one element of my outfit: my veil. The veil came together last minute, within 2-3 weeks before the wedding!

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Being able to plan easily with our parents and fiancé.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
The food and music, as well as the coordination for the weekend. Sangeet and Reception food is prepared by Punjab Cuisine, and the wedding food is prepared by Krishna Catering and Restaurant. Music by DJ Rohit Goswamy and Planning + Coordination by Marigold Wedding Planners

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
The whole weekend lol

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
Many of our friends and family were on college dance teams, so our sangeet was very exciting. The l dances showcased both of our unique cultures (Punjabi and Gujurati) as well as our talented friends who helped choreograph and dance the different routines.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Wedding planning can be very overwhelming and stressful, make sure you take time to enjoy the process. Try not save any big planning details until the end—3-4 weeks before the wedding is when you should start enjoying all the Pre-wedding excitement.

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
I am still in love with my wedding set from paisley pop. I stacked two necklaces for a fuller look, and I’m happy I chose pieces I can re-wear in the future in different ways. It was also very special for me to be able to incorporate family heirlooms into the accessories I wore.

We opted not to have wedding cake, but a dessert table spread instead for more variety. We Ended up still cutting a cake, however, as it was my husband birthday!

Sweethearts, the weekend was filled with joyful memories, beautiful traditions, and much dancing.

Plymouth, MI Indian Wedding by 97 Films

In the heart of Plymouth, Michigan, where tradition meets modernity, Poonam & Wesley orchestrated a wedding that was nothing short of a Bollywood masterpiece. Their journey from a serendipitous meeting at a summer party to a heartfelt proposal on their new home's front porch set the stage for a celebration that beautifully blended cultural heritage with personal flair.

The couple had always envisioned their nuptials at the esteemed Saint John's Resort. Fate intervened when the venue, which had recently embraced ceremonies of all religious backgrounds, became available just as they inquired. It was as if the universe conspired to make their dream come true.

Set amidst lush greenery, the Haldi and Mehendi ceremonies burst with traditional bright colors, symbolizing joy and prosperity. The Sangeet took a bold, non-traditional turn with a "disco jungle" theme, where pink ostrich feather centerpieces and disco balls filled with hot pink bougainvilleas created a vibrant fusion of Miami's vivacity and jungle allure. The wedding ceremony was nothing short of a dream, as Poonam, draped in a stunning red lengha sourced from India, embodied the quintessential Indian bride. As the celebrations continued, the reception transformed into a sultry, romantic affair, with lush greenery and candlelight setting the perfect mood for an unforgettable evening.

Killer Creations Photography and Cinematography captured the essence of each moment, ensuring that the couple's unique relationship with family and friends was highlighted in every frame. Their keen eye for detail and ability to preserve emotions made every shot a masterpiece. Marigold Wedding Planners orchestrated the event precisely, weaving the couple's vision into a seamless and memorable experience. From the vibrant pre-wedding festivities to the romantic reception, their expertise brought every detail to life with flawless execution.

97 Films masterfully transformed Poonam & Wesley's wedding into a cinematic masterpiece, capturing not just the visuals but the emotions, energy, and essence of their love story. Every frame was thoughtfully curated to weave together the laughter, tears, and heartfelt moments that made their day unforgettable. From the electrifying beats of the Sangeet to the tender vows exchanged during the ceremony, their team ensured that no special moment went unnoticed. Their storytelling approach goes beyond traditional videography—it creates an experience, allowing Poonam and Wesley to relive their wedding day with the same excitement and emotions they felt in the moment.

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Wesley and I met the summer between my first and second year of optometry school at a party. We were introduced by a classmate of mine who had been best friends with him since kindergarten. After talking all night we knew we had an instant connection, and continued to see each other after that night.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
In May of 2023, Wesley and I purchased our first home together. The day we closed and got the keys to the house, Wes got down on one knee on our front porch and asked me to marry him. It was perfect and just the two of us.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Our vendors were amazing to work with! I had always dreamed of getting married at the Saint John's resort, and up until a few years ago, they only allowed Catholic weddings. It felt like fate when we inquired about their venue when they had just opened it up to all religious backgrounds. My inspiration for the decor was wanting to embody elements of us. For our Haldi and Mehendi, I wanted the bright traditional colors. For our Sangeet, I wanted to do something non-traditional and chose to do a disco jungle theme. I wanted it to be fun and have more of a Miami vibe than your typical sangeet decor. For the wedding, we wanted it to have that dreamy feel, and for the reception, we wanted it to be sultry/romantic. I wanted our guests to be able to feel the love we shared for one another by creating an environment that embodied that. I also picked outfits that matched each event but captured my personality in it. Our hair and makeup team was SO amazing to work with; they listened to everything I wanted, and I had never felt more beautiful in my life.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I knew I wanted to do traditional red, I LOVE an Indian bride in red. We most of my outfits from India, and I knew I wanted something a little different than what I was used to seeing. Once I found it I knew I had to have it.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Food tasting hands down was the best part, we had so many unique cuisines that it was exciting to try everything. I also really enjoyed planning the smaller details that brought everything together.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
The food and drinks!!! Our bartenders from the venue created craft cocktails for our guests that we didn't have to request, they just did it.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Walking down the aisle. I had picked the perfect combination of songs to play, but when I was walking down, I felt like no one else in the room was there except my husband. It honestly felt like a movie moment for me, and all I could feel was love and joy.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
The Haldi and Mehendi were outdoors, which naturally has a lot of green, so we wanted to stick with the bright, vibrant colors to contrast nicely. Our Sangeet I wanted a disco jungle theme -- the room where we hosted the event at our venue has large glass ceilings with lots of greenery within it. We had centerpieces made with tall vases with pink ostrich feathers and smaller disco balls filled with hot pink bougainvilleas. I really just wanted the sangeet to be fun, with fun foods. We catered our food from Paradise Street Eats where we had loaded butter chicken and paneer fries, butter chicken and paneer tacos, tandoori chicken wings, and so much more fun street food.
Our wedding reception I wanted to have a more sultry romantic feel. I am not the biggest fan of florals and wanted to do more greenery and candle light.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Enjoy the planning process! There were definitely stressful moments, and there will be things that don't go your way -- but the day of, the only thing you're thinking about is the person you love the most. I would 10/10 highly recommend having your coordinator set up a private sitting area for you and your husband to eat dinner away from all your guests. We did this, and it honestly was the best way for us to spend quality time together and actually EAT without having people coming up to you.

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
My mehndi artist was amazing and captured so many beautiful details, including the Ohio State logo, which is where we met, an eye because I'm an optometrist, monogram initials, and a beautiful bride and groom display.

I wanted unique touches at our reception, so we had a martini ice luge and had them make lychee martinis to pour down!

We did a dessert bar from Sweet Dreams along with wedding cake because we wanted to have more options, and I'm still dreaming about the macaron tower.

We stuck with the traditional baraat, having Wes come in on the horse and everyone loved it!! I'm kind of tired of seeing the sports cars, but our horse also came with a carraige so after the ceremony Wes and I both left in the carraige together. It was very fairytale like and I loved it!

Our photobooth was AMAZING! I wanted a Kardashian esq photobooth, without any props or signs. I couldn't rave enough about UV Photobooth, they were great to work with.

Poonam & Wesley's wedding was a celebration of love, culture, and beautifully blended traditions.

Punta Cana, DO Indian Wedding by Dk Photofilms

Once upon a time, in the vibrant swirl of lights and music at a Garba celebration in 2015, Krupa's eyes met Neel's across the dance floor. Little did they know that this chance meeting would ignite a love story filled with countless dates and adventures over the next few years. With each passing day, their connection deepened, and their bond grew stronger until Krupa knew in her heart that Neel was "the one."

Their journey reached a pinnacle on a serene morning in Aruba, a paradise where love blossomed under the Caribbean sun. Neel orchestrated a proposal straight out of a fairy tale. A secluded beach, a tipi adorned with love and care, and a picnic spread fit for royalty awaited them. As they sat together, surrounded by the whisper of palm trees and the melody of soft music, Neel took a nervous yet determined breath and knelt before Krupa, presenting a velvet box that promised forever. With tears of joy streaming down her cheeks, Krupa eagerly nodded as Neel slipped a sparkling ring onto her finger, sealing their love in that perfect moment captured forever by a discreet photographer.

Their wedding planning took them to India, where Krupa found her dream lehenga—the "French Rose Tales of Masai Lehenga" from Matsya World. It was a masterpiece adorned with Suchi Dori, Zardozi, and delicate Jaipuri mirrors, reflecting her elegance and modern bride spirit. The veil, a delicate finishing touch, seamlessly tied together tradition and contemporary style, embodying Krupa's vision of bridal perfection.

As a meticulous planner and lover of all things floral, Krupa poured her heart into creating a destination wedding to enchant their guests. Every detail reflected their love story, from elaborate floral arrangements to carefully curated decor. The beauty and romance of the occasion swept away their guests, but one moment stood out above the rest for Krupa & Neel.

Walking down the aisle as husband and wife, surrounded by the love and support of their closest friends and family, was forever etched in their hearts. As they took each step together, they reflected on their journey—filled with Garba dances, Aruba sunsets, and the promise of a future intertwined in love.

And so, Krupa & Neel's love story continues, each chapter more beautiful than the last, as they embrace the adventures of married life with hearts full of gratitude and love.

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
We met each other at Garba in 2015.  What ensued was a series of countless dates and adventures over the next couple years.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Neel had planned the beautiful proposal during our vacation in Aruba. The morning began with a surprise— a picnic on a secluded beach, its shores kissed by gentle waves and framed by swaying palm trees. As we arrived, I was struck by the sight of a beautifully adorned tipi nestled among the palms. Inside, a picnic spread awaited us, filled with my favorite treats and a bottle of champagne chilling in a bucket of ice while Soft music filled the air. We spent time reminiscing about our six-year journey together in that serene setting.

Then, with a nervous yet determined smile, Neel knelt before me, holding a small velvet box that sparkled in the sunlight. Time seemed to stand still as he asked me, "Will you marry me?"

Overwhelmed with joy and tears welling up, I eagerly nodded. Neel slipped the ring onto my finger, and we embraced tightly, the world around us fading into the background as we savored the beautiful moment.

Neel had also arranged for a photographer to discreetly capture these memories. The soft clicks of the camera blended with the gentle music, capturing forever the beauty and deep emotions of that perfect day in Aruba.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
One thing I was absolutely certain about was that I wanted a pastel-colored lehenga. During our trip to India for wedding shopping, we visited numerous stores and designers, but nothing seemed quite right. It wasn't until we reached the last store that they presented the lehenga, and I instantly knew it was perfect.
My wedding lehenga, from Matsya World, is called "The French Rose Tales of Masai Lehenga." It encompassed everything I had dreamed of in a lehenga—the artistry and craftsmanship with Suchi Dori, Zardozi, and delicate Jaipuri mirrors. It was an eternal statement of elegance. My favorite aspect of the lehenga was its veil, which beautifully tied together the entire ensemble, blending tradition with contemporary style and giving the modern bride look.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Planning a destination wedding limited our options, but as a Type A bride, I relished planning every detail myself. Despite the stress, envisioning the decor was both challenging and enjoyable. With a deep love for all kinds of flowers, I was adamant about having abundant floral arrangements for each wedding event. Creating mood boards and meticulously planning the floral decor for each occasion became a passion project. After several Zoom meetings and adjustments, our vendors successfully brought my vision to life.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
There were countless moments that I still replay in my mind, but the most cherished of all was walking down the aisle as a married couple. At that moment, we could only feel the overwhelming love and reflect on our journey together thus far, as well as the new chapter we were embarking upon.

The joyous laughter, heartfelt vows, and intimate moments were immortalized, allowing us to relive the magic.

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Sunny and I matched on Dil Mil in December of 2021 and met in person for the first time in Chicago in January 2022. I knew Sunny was the one March of 2022 during our St. Patrick’s Day celebrations in the Windy City.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Our proposal took place at Millennium Park in downtown Chicago. First, it started with Sunny's minute decision to join Dhara and her family for Thanksgiving dinner at her home. We then headed to the city to help a friend set up for a proposal, while that's what Dhara thought. They got to the spot where the proposal was supposed to happen. Dhara started throwing rose petals in the path. When she was done, she turned around and saw Sunny down on one knee. After she said yes they had a photoshoot in all their favorite spots. Then went to Flight club where their first date was. Dhara was shocked when she walked in. All her family and friends were there, ready to celebrate the newly engaged couple. It was the PERFECT proposal.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Venue:
We narrowed down to Dallas as our destination and then made a list of venues to tour. We mostly tour hotels and 2 non-traditional venues. The Dallas Oasis was chosen because of its opportunity to make each event seem like it was in a new place and it fit our guest count.
Hair & Makeup:
I knew I wanted Darshi from Chicago no matter where we ended up, so I made sure she was available and reserved her as soon as we had a date.
Decor:
With the help of my sister, we came up with a unique theme for each event with the mindset of reusing as much as we could.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
When thinking of my dream wedding dress, I knew I wanted a Sabyasachi; however, I could not justify their pricing. So I found a Delhi based designer that was willing to make me a custom made wedding lengha. She heard me out on all my plans and made my dream come true. The fabric, color, and handwork were all perfect. I was truly blown away by Raas Couture's work. Shefali and Esha were incredible throughout the whole process. They sent update videos and picture every step of the way and delivered the outfit right when they said they would. I would recommend them to any future bride.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The design of my wedding dress and decor was my favorite part.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Our guest even til this day are talking about how great the food was at all the events. Sawaii blew us out of the water with their delivery of food. They are also talking about how beautiful the Dallas Oasis space was. It was a unique and non-traditional wedding venue.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
My favorite moments from our wedding are the first look and our entrance to our reception. Our first look was perfect and so special. It was the one moment we got together to just take it all in before walking down the aisle. The reception entrance was perfect, we had the bridal party do a "bottle service" entrance and then had them stay on the dance floor to hype us up once we entered.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
Sangeet was a pastel color theme with food stations that covered all types of food. We had an ice cream cart on the move for any guest to enjoy a refreshing bowl of ice cream. We wanted each station to be a completely different experience.

Let the love stories remind you of the beauty and magic that weddings bring. Come back for more!
