Cancun, Mexico Destination Sikh Wedding by Fine Arts Studio

Welcome to paradise Maharanis! Nikki and Ashish had the wedding weekend of their dreams in front of the crystal waters and white-sands beach of Cancun, Mexico! Our newlyweds gathered their closest loved ones at the fabulous Villas Del Palmar Cancun, where they chose to host all of their wedding events. The first step to become husband and wife comprised a beautiful haldi ritual in front of the ocean that took place before an energetic Sangeet celebration night, also overlooking the ocean! Maharani Nikki, followed not only fashion but also tradition, wearing a swoon-worthy coral lehenga with a blue choli with heavy embroidery for her big day! Luckily, Monga Sangha traveled all the way to Cancun to make sure our Bride looked extraordinary for each event! The solemn ceremony was flawless and super intimate. Every tear and laugh of the nuptials was filmed by the destination wedding cinematographer Fine Arts Studio, who helped the couple make tons of memories. Getting married internationally can be stressful, nevertheless this exotic elopement was carefully planned and designed by KP Style Events who were on top of everything and made the entire weekend run smoothly! The magical soiree was full of white florals and tasteful adornments. I’m so obsessed with the elephant topiaries provided by Euforia! Total inspiration. For his first night as a married man, groom Ashish wore a well-tailored black tux jacket and black trousers that made him shine at the dance floor! After raising their  glasses, all guests danced thanks to Encore Entertainment, who rocked the party along with a fantastic saxophonist, Rivera Sax, who gave the night a special feeling. Hasten to watch the amazing compilation of this Cancun Wedding!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
It all started with two swipes right and an app called Dil Mil.

People say that love usually finds you when you're least expecting it and that was the case for us.  Both of us downloaded Dil Mil (an Indian dating app) hoping to find that special someone, but at the same time, neither of us had high hopes.  Little did we know that downloading the app on our phones would change our lives for the better.

It was December of 2015 and after a lot of swiping right and left, we both matched.  Nikki was in Seattle, Washington and Ashish was in Fayetteville, North Carolina.  After finding out where the other person was located, Nikki was a skeptic and didn't think the distance would work, but Ashish being persistent insisted we continue talking and see where things go.  After less than four weeks of texting back and forth, talking on the phone, and video chatting, Ashish made the decision to fly out to Seattle and we met in person.  We were both full of excitement, nervousness, and doubt for our first meeting, but the minute we saw each other at the airport, we both knew we made the right choice.  Our first date went better than we could have expected, we got along great and conversation was effortless.   By the end of Ashish's trip, we both knew that we wanted to continue this journey together.

After a year of flying back and forth, across the country to be with each other, Ashish proposed to Nikki in December 2016 in Seattle.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
My husband and I both knew we wanted to do a destination wedding and celebrate with just our close friends and family so we started the search for a resort.  We wanted something that was big enough to accommodate our guests and events, but also small enough so that everyone was together and could get to know each other and not be spread out throughout the resort.  We found Villa Del Palmar in Cancun and loved the venue.  Having all the guests and events in one place made things so much more convenient for our guests.  The wedding coordinators at the resort were super helpful and we were able to plan the majority of our wedding communicating with them while still in the US.  My hair and makeup artist, Mona Sangha from Vancouver gave me different looks for each of my events and helped to bring my vision together.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I went shopping with an open mind for my bridal lengha but knew I didn't want anything red and was more looking for pinks and corals.  I tried on outfit after outfit before deciding to do a custom piece.  I took inspiration from 3 different outfits that I tried on and we sketched out my wedding piece.  My husband's outfit was a blue atchkin with gold throughout so I decided to go with the blue for my top and the coral for the bottom.  The outfit turned out beautifully and was exactly what I envisioned.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part of the planning process was doing our first site visit.  We booked our resort and planned the majority of our wedding without seeing the resort in person.  Two months before the wedding we did a site visit and were relieved that not only did the pictures online reflect the resort, but that the resort was even more beautiful in person.  During this trip, we walked the grounds and saw where each of our events would take place which made everything even more real for us.  We also did the cake tasting during that trip so I was pretty content to say the least :)

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
I think the guests loved that the resort was smaller and guests from both sides were able to mingle and get to know each other easier.  By the end of the weekend, everyone knew everyone and had had some conversation with each person which isn't an easy feat for an indian wedding of any size!  I know I definitely enjoyed seeing both families really interact and get to know each other and creating the feeling of one family.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
The Sangeet was held on the beach and was a pretty traditional setup with lots of colors.  There were multiple friend and family dance performances from both sides, and I even did a dance.

I love elephants so we decided to go with an elephant themed reception.  My husband even surprised me with two large elephants on the sides of the stage which I loved and was NOT expecting (Still not sure how he pulled it off without me knowing)!

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Try not to stress about every little detail on your wedding day and really enjoy every minute of it.  You, your partner, families and friends have all spent thousands of hours planning for this day and it will be over before you know it.  So just have fun and celebrate your marriage and the start of a new chapter in your lives!

Have a good one, loves! Don't forget to keep hunting for more wedding inspiration!

Seattle, WA Fusion Wedding by Pacific Pictures

Welcome back, sweethearts! You'll need tons of napkins viewing Bindu and Daniel's tear-jerking nuptials. Cinematographers, from Pacific Pictures, captured a mecca of emotional visuals that we would love to share with our Maharanis today. The wedding guests were 'Sleepless in Seattle', moved by speeches, touching moments, and joyful celebration. We love when Daniel, from Texas, goes all out dancing during the Baraat and later yells out a passionate "YES" when he first puts his eyes on his silver-blemished bride. Arianna Scott Makeup Artist highlighted Bindu's striking features with luscious locks and a shimmery headpiece of gold. Fairmont Olympic Hotel hosted a modern luxury ceremony and reception for all the nearest and dearest. The first thing I noticed about the venue was the impeccable lighting by Crimson Haze that elevated the room in whimsical blue and pink. I'm absolutely swept away by the fantastic universe of majestic glass chandeliers and white roses hanging from the ceiling by Flora Nova Design. I believe the collaboration between the incredible event designers from Evolution Events and Elizabeth Priya Kumar and her team of planners from Premini Events, deserve 5 prominent stars! The thriving beats blasted by 3D Sounds kept everyone in a festive mood and the guests put their dancing shoes to the test. All the great moments were captured by photo pros from Jerome Tso Photography. It's time to marvel in the incredible wedding video by Pacific Pictures. Hit play and get lost!

Thanks for checking in, lovelies!

Hauppauge, New York Wedding by KSD Weddings

Welcome back, beautiful Maharanis! Viewing the tear-jerking wedding video by KSD Weddings made us believe that soulmates exist. Suman & Kristof met in graduate school back in 2008. They happened to be the perfect match and one day Kristof proposed after a multi-course fancy dinner at a high-end restaurant in San Francisco. Their wedding video begins by zooming in on tons of glittery details, such as a beautiful statue of Ganesha, stunning jewelry, and unique Indian wedding attire prepped to be worn by our handsome groom. Just as the Jai mala was to get underway, the heavens offered a blessing - rain! Fear not Maharanis, Erganic Design was on hand and they swiftly moved guest inside for an unforgettable ceremony at Benares Restaurant in the name of love. Our lovely bride was dressed in an adorable orange and gold lehenga and BridalGal had done an amazing job on Suman's hair and makeup that stayed dazzling throughout the day. The celebration was coordinated by pro’s from Erganic Design and Suman felt at ease during the entire planning process. Stylish events outfitted the Hyatt Regency Long Island in pink, yellow, and white floral arrangements and kept the lines simple and classic. The lively and dedicated crowd danced to Magic Mike DJs all evening and the smiles on their faces show that it was a memorable experience for many. We wish Suman and Kristof all the best of luck on their journey as husband and wife, so click play and watch their magical day unfold.

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?

I meet Kris during graduate school in 2008. We were friends for a year before we realized there was something more there and we started dating by 2009. Things were so easy and natural between us that I didn't think too much about where we were heading. One day a few months into dating, it occurred to me that I might marry him.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!

Kris arranged a beautiful, multi-course dinner at a high-end restaurant in San Francisco called Quince, which included a trip to the kitchen to meet the chef! I had no idea he was going to propose that night, although he told me to get dressed up - something he never says. But because he hadn't proposed by mid-evening, I assumed it was okay to loosen my belt and keep eating! He surprised me with a ring while we were walking away from the restaurant, and a party with our nearest and dearest afterward. It was truly a surprise.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.

I'm the rare bride who will say that planning wasn't so difficult - I've been to so many weddings, my older sister is married, and I believe in sticking to the formula and not getting too creative to minimize stress! I found my vendors through a mix of recommendations from friends and some online research, but not too much. I wanted everything to be great, but I didn't go out of my way to be different. My vendors were all experienced and well-known, so I felt that I was in good hands. Instagram and Pinterest, however, are a mixed blessing - great for inspiration, but also a bit of a rabbit-hole!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?

I went to India (New Delhi) for my shopping, with completely different ideas of what I wanted and then walked out with. Seeing what you love on Instagram is very different from actually shopping and seeing what is in stock, knowing how much time you have for original designs vs. alterations, etc. I was supposed to get a traditional yellow sari for the ceremony - ended up with a deep orange lehenga! I was always uncertain about my reception lehenga and repurposed it for my Haldi/Sangeet, and ended up placing an order with an Indian designer (Shymal & Bhumika) instead. Didn't regret it!

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?

Shopping, of course, and the anticipation.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?

There was always food. Even during the ceremony. One can never go too long at a party without food!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?

Our Jai mala was planned to be on the outdoor garden patio of our venue, followed by the ceremony inside. Just as I walked onto the patio for the Jai mala, it started to rain. I thought - I'm having a "monsoon wedding" and that the heavens were actually showering their blessings! Cheesy, but it was funny and amazing - it didn't at all put a damper on things. I laughed my way to the stage as the first drops fell, and laughed my way running back inside. It was the most memorable moment for me.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?

Relax! The memories will be where things are slightly imperfect and unexpected.

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)

Instead of a traditional guest book, I ordered a "guest map" from Etsy, which our guests from various states/countries could sign based on where they came from. It's a wonderful souvenir!

We adore this couple and their story! Cheers to love!

Spring Valley, NY Weddings by KSD Weddings

Good to see you, beautiful Maharanis! We have been utterly excited to share Shravani & Vijay wedding video with you. KSD Weddings has greatly captured every romantic look and inspirational detail of this enchanted wedding adventure held at the popular New York Country Club. Now take a look at our bride's perfect makeup and unique, flowerful hair by Andrea Beckerich. Isn't that a true piece of art? We also adored the bridal party and their multi-colored clothing including numerous shades of blue and green. Our groom arrived on a big, white horse as a true maharaja and our bride was majestically carried wearing a to-dye-for gold and red lehenga. At the reception, the bride surprised us by showcasing an elegant, ocean blue lehenga that she gracefully twirled during the first dance admired by groom, friends, and family. The reception was kept in a metallic silver, shimmering gold, classic white, and beautiful purple color scale thoughtfully put together by Vedika Creations. Moghul Catering provided a mecca of food experiences for the guests and DJ Monu Singh Entertainment added the last touch to the lively atmosphere with their danceable tunes. During the voice over in the video, the groom states that his bride makes him believe he can do anything he wants. Well, we are certain that this lovely couple can do anything they decide on - together!

What a love story! Thanks for checking in.
