Philadelphia, PA Indian Wedding by Aria Cinema Films

It is Thursday, ladies, and the heat of the summer is already here! So grab those sunglasses, put the suntan lotion on and join us for our featured film of the day. This time, we have a fun fact about lenghas, for us to have a glimpse of why they are one of the most beautiful features of a bridal trousseau. It is believed that they come from the Mughal Era. During those times, women would wear the specially crafted lenghas only for special events and it was believed that they defined Indian exquisiteness and beauty in its purest form. That, of course, is something that continues to this day and it is a strong feature of the color and glam that surrounds the Indian tradition. Today, Aria Cinema Films brings for us the highlight reel of Alli & Shivan's nuptials, and as we will see, the lengha and color chosen by our dazzling Maharani Alli is the perfect representation of that same but modern glam we love so much. So, extra kudos to our couple's attires, and the lovely hair and makeup by Bella AngelPhiladelphia Marriott Downtown greeted and housed the ceremony and Please Touch Museum housed the reception and as we can expect, it was full of choreographies, laughter, delicious food and of course, love. The couple needed the pros for the planning and design and the team from Elegant Events Planning & Design were the chosen ones for the task. The final result... well, let's just say it was enchanting, to say the least. A loving shout out to our friends from Studio Nine Photography who took the incredible pictures we will enjoy soon. For now, let us step one more time into the magical world of Indian weddings via the moving images and get dazzled by the cinematic experience ahead of us. Let's go!

More to come, ladies, stick around!

Louisville, Kentucky Indian Wedding by Making The Moment Photography

Another perfect match Maharanis! This time, Making the Moment Photography brings us the best of Shelly and Kiran’s big Indian wedding with an insanely beautiful same day edit film! Before taking the plunge, the sweethearts threw a series of vibrant events in which the Sangeet night was the most exciting of all with traditional songs, food, and colorful dresses. The exclusive Hyatt Regency Louisville welcomed the newlyweds with upscale amenities and provided one of their best halls to host the much-anticipated ceremony. The soul of the festivities arrived and lovely Shelly reincarnated an Indian princess with the magic touch of Bellesadivina by Gayatri. The beauty team helped the gorgeous bride by draping her stunning red lehenga and creating a superb hair and makeup look for her ceremony and upcoming reception. As the festivities drew to a close, Opening Minds Entertainment gave the right vibe with their energetic music to create the high spirited ambiance that reigned all night long! Check out the inspiring feature film below!

How did you meet your Raja and when did you know he was "the one"?
We met early on in medical school and have never stopped laughing since then. I knew he was the one when he made everything more enjoyable, including the most stressful times of school.

Do you have a super romantic proposal story or engagement memory?
Kiran proposed to me in the Barbados which was something I would never expect. He took me for a surprise vacation during our second year of residency and proposed on the island. When we returned home I was greeted by all of our families and friends and a surprise engagement party!

Tell us about your wedding style. When you sat down to really figure out how your dream wedding would look, did you start with one central color, a palette of colors, or a theme that served as your inspiration?
I love cherry blossoms, so I knew I had to have those at my reception. We wanted to stick to a blue color theme like the ocean and trees that matches the natural beauty I admire. Our wedding mandap was a sweet blush & mint green which really went well with our beautiful trees.

What did you enjoy most about the process of planning your dream Indian wedding?
The most fun was the food tasting, traveling to multiple cities to shop with my mom, dancing after so many years, and making so many memories with all of our family who helped tremendously!

How did you choose your lengha or lenghas? Did you work with a certain designer? Did you spend hours on the internet first?
I found all of my wedding clothes here in America due to limited time in residency. I loved Bombay Bridal in Jackson Heights, New York. I also loved Indian Couture & Miss India in Edison, New Jersey. Enjoyed shopping at Ziva Bridal in Chicago, IL for some other events as well! I knew for my wedding lengha I was going to red and I always wanted a gold contrasted chunney, which Miss India specially made for me.

Looking back, was there a really special moment that you remember from your wedding that stands out as the most magical?
Walking down the aisle with my brother, Cohin.

Did you and your Raja have a special song that you danced to as your first dance? How did you choose it?
Yes! Our names Shelly & Kiran put together was our hashtag #SheKira so we started our first dance with Meant To Be by Florida-Georgia line and transitioned into Hips Don’t like by Shakira! We took salsa lessons and it was a blast!

How about hair and makeup? Did you already have a style in mind or did you work with a specialist to find your perfect look?
I worked with Gayatri Kalia, we talked for months and exchanged tons of ideas. I wore flowers in my hair for every event except the reception. She really made everything so easy for me and made me feel so confident in how I looked!

Did family or friends help out with certain special details that really added to the event?
Yes, my massi group in Louisville, KY is amazing and was there for me throughout the wedding week. I had multiple events that were all amazing, I felt like the entire community of Louisville was so helpful and excited for us! I had tons of India make it to the states for the first time which was an unforgettable memory for all of us.

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
Mehndi was done by bella henna, based in Cincinnati, OH. I highly recommend her to anyone who loves intricate designs. She is very talented with very symmetrical & delicate designs.

The venue was the Hyatt Regency who was an amazing partner throughout this process. They welcomed each of us with gifts in our rooms and valet services included.

Happy Monday, dolls! Make sure to check out Shelly & Kiran's wedding photos in our blog by Making the Moment Photography!

Glendale, CO Sikh Wedding By Ambrosia Films

Morning lovelies! We have such a lovely, technicolor treat for you today. The adorable duo of Manjit and Gurdeep had a Sikh wedding extravaganza, and Ambrosia Films was there to capture every sensational moment in a stunning film. These lovebirds’ special weekend was perfection from beginning to end, with planning by the couple, their families, and the incredible Raindrops On Roses Event Planners. Manjit was a vision of pure beauty in a ruby red lehenga, mesmerizing henna by Humming Bird Henna, and glittering jewels from head to toe. Her dapper beau Gurdeep also looked like a King in a rich sherwani topped with a regal turban. What a gorgeous couple! We adore their first look in front of colorful street art on the streets of Colorado. Even though they were surrounded by a riot of colors, Manjit and Gurdeep stood out front and center with their wedding glow! Kokoro Photography was right by the couple’s side for every romantic wedding moment, which you can peruse in the full gallery. And scroll below for all the inside scoop from the bride herself about her wedding below!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?

Met on Dil Mil website. Felt a strong emotional connection with each other, after 8 months, knew he was the one, when being ourselves with each other and being able to relate to one another.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.

We had a wedding planner who helped us out tremendously with coordinating with venues, planning and decorating. We did our shopping in india. I brought my makeup and hair person from Philly to CO, and videographer as well. Everyone involved in the planning of the wedding worked together effectively.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?

I wanted red for the wedding, as traditional. I always wanted to wear red for my wedding day. For my reception, I wanted to wear mint green, more like a summer color since the wedding was in July.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?

Family togetherness, picking what we liked, cake tasting, picking out colors, choosing food. To make sure everything went smoothly, I would say having a wedding planner (due to the large number of guests and events) was very important as well.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?

Everything was taken care of, no one had to worry. Just how great the wedding and reception was, including the decorations and venues.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?

I would say, after the ceremony: me and my hubby looked each other and smiled. Also, at the reception we saw our same day edit video in front of our family and friends, it was very special to us.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.

A lot of performances by family and friends that meant a lot to us. My hubby' s brother is no longer with us, everything that was done for us at the wedding and reception was for him. He would have been so proud of what we accomplished with planning. A lot emotions during the wedding, sad and happy moments.

Thank you Manjit! We're off to hit replay!
