Jersey City, NJ Indian Wedding by Lightyear Studio

It is Friday, ladies! The end of the month is quickly coming and we have more weddings than ever. Today, it is time for some filmy feel goods to start our well deserved weekend, and let me tell you, the Hindu flair and glitter are strong on this one! The quintessential Maharani style was there at all times and our bride Kruti was absolutely shining from top to toe. Our friends from Cinderella Bridez assisted with hair and makeup, and as we will see, their work was truly a work of art. So alluring! All the emotional and romantic moments are brought to us thanks to Lightyear Studio who created the most beautiful memento of all that went on for that day of joyous love. Are you ladies ready for some serious style extravaganza? Hit play and join Kruti & Ankit on their ravishing wedding gala. Only here, in Maharani Weddings!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Like true millennials (or so we like to think), Ankit and I met on an online dating app. It all began when I ‘swiped right’ on Ankit because I thought, “Oo this guy has nice teeth!” Priorities. So yes, our journey began quite literally at the click of a button, and never in a million years did I imagine that it would get us here today. One of our dates early on included an impromptu trip to Chicago. Ankit was going there for his Hematology conference and had asked me to join. I knew he was a keeper when he emailed me a detailed itinerary outlining fun things we would do exploring Chicago. So against my better judgment, I decided to go. After all, this itinerary included scheduled snack times and deep dish pizza. What could go wrong? I was sold.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Ankit proposed on December 30th, 2017. It was the holiday season in NYC, and we had just finished seeing The Nutcracker at Lincoln Center. Ankit did not seem like himself during the show, so I knew something was up but couldn't figure out what. Earlier that day he had locked himself out of his phone, so I thought maybe that was bothering him? We then headed over to the Affinia Hotel, where we had planned on staying the night. He urged us to check out their rooftop for a beautiful sunset. It was snowing and one of the coldest days that year, so I was almost annoyed that he wanted so badly to check out this rooftop. When we got to the rooftop, it was beautifully decorated (courtesy of our families) with a gorgeous view of the Empire State in the backdrop, and that's when he got down on one knee! I was completely surprised, and then we were later greeted by our families and went out for a nice dinner to celebrate our engagement!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Our venue was so beautiful that it did most of the work for us in terms of decor! We didn’t have a particular theme in mind but knew we wanted something simple yet elegant, which is what we hopefully reflected.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
My bridal lengha is from Surat, India. I knew I wanted the traditional Indian wedding colors - there is something so beautiful about the red and gold with just a splash of green, and I figured it's a once in a lifetime event. It was surprisingly difficult to find the traditional red I was looking for in India because the trend has changed to different colors now. You could get it custom made but I didn't have that much time to spare there, so preferred to get as many things as possible that were ready made.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Everyone had such a great time! I don’t think it was one particular thing, but in general, we heard that they enjoyed the fun vibe all day.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
My mom is all about surprises. So, of course, she arranges a limo for all the ladies in our family to get to the venue the night before the wedding! We jammed out in the limo, including my grandma.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
For the pre-wedding events, we kept things simple. My mehndi ceremony was at my parents’ home in NJ, and the grahshanti pooja was at a local temple nearby. We didn’t have a sangeet/garba the night before because it becomes too chaotic. Of course, as gujus, we managed to squeeze in some garba time at the temple :)

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Have fun!!! Stress out as much as you want (preferably not too much though) before the wedding, but do not forget to have fun the day of! Things will inevitably go wrong. Is it even a wedding if things don’t? To name a few: we forgot to order a cake topper, practiced our first dance for the first time the night before, the horse was late for the baraat, Ankit forgot to bring the coconut he is supposed to carry with him to be welcomed into the ceremony, and I somehow didn’t get my bridal bouquet for the walk down the aisle! Some things also work out.  For us, the forecast was showing rain all week, but it cleared up the morning of and we had a beautiful outdoor ceremony! You win some, you lose some. The important thing is that everyone has fun, including you. That’s what you’ll always cherish.

Stay with us, dolls, more glam to come!

East Meadow, NY Sikh Wedding by Lightyear Studio

Good morning, Maharanis! Today we are very excited to share an insight into the wonderful wedding celebration of Deepa & Neal. This event combines all the things we love and immerses us in a beautiful journey that we can be part of thanks to the talent of Lightyear Studio. Throughout the magnificent shots of this film, we will relieve a journey that mixes traditions, colors, emotions, dances, and above all a lot of love. We are almost certain there was not a single dry eye at the Gurdwara Mata Sahib Kaur as our bride walked down the aisle in a striking, champagne lengha with pink and green accents, that was both traditional and sophisticated. After the ceremony, the reception party was held at The Carltun, a venue that was truly showered with love in all these uplifting moments the couple shared along with their family and friends. I couldn't help but smile at all the fantastic family and friends Deepa & Neal have been blessed with. This reception party had everything! It combined a great atmosphere with emotional speeches that will make you drop a tear of joy. So, go get your tissue box as this film will hit you in all the feels.

If you are like us and enjoy love stories, stay around. We have more love stories to come!
