Alpharetta, GA Pakistani Wedding by MNK PRO

Good morning, Maharanis! TGIF! As you know, here at Maharani Weddings we make sure to bring you the best of the Indian Weddings and today is no exception. We are double featuring Shoheera & Mohammad's marvelous wedding celebration. First of all, we should thank heaven for the phenomenal talent of MNK Pro, who made sure to capture from beginning to the end, every detail and special moment, and created a marvelous photo gallery. And if this is not enough, on this installment, we have the visual masterpiece they produced, and I am sure that once you see it, your inspiration will increase! So let me take you right away to the Atlanta Marriott Alpharetta, the ideal venue chosen by our lovebird's to celebrate their eternal union. The long-awaited day arrived, and everything was just as our lovebirds dreamed about. And we want to take a moment to admire the beauty of Shoheera, our gorgeous Maharani, who looked spectacular and stole everyone's attention. She made the right choice by trusting all of her beauty needs to Color Impressions by Saba. And to add the special touch to her already ravishing look, Beauty You Deserve created a phenomenal Mehndi Art for our beautiful bride. So don't think twice and hit the play icon below to start enjoy it!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
I met Mohammad ("Mo") while I was doing my Master's program in Boston. He moved there for work. I was trying to be more social at the mosque, so I decided to go out with a group of people for bowling. Mo was working late that night, but one of his friends (who planned the bowling night) convinced Mo take a break and join us. That's the first night we met and hung out together.

When we met, it was an instant spark. As I got to know Mo as friends, I saw a lot of signs that pointed towards him being "the one". We got along really well, shared many of the same values and ideals in life, which for me was a rare find, and we supported each other with our goals and ambitions. There wasn't really one specific moment where I knew - I think there were lots of mini moments that confirmed that we were meant to be together through the course of our relationship.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
We both come from a traditional family! So there was no proposal. We had a very traditional engagement ceremony with our family and friends, complete with the ring exchange, dinner, and dancing.

He did surprise me with the most amazing date night, with dinner at the same place as our very first date, a walk through our favorite neighborhood, and dropping down on one knee to ask me to marry him.....A MONTH BEFORE our wedding. I guess all the hints I dropped about wanting to be proposed to post-engagement really worked.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Wedding planning was stressful because I was planning a 3 day wedding in Atlanta from Boston, but I started very early. I secured the venue, decorator, photo/videographer and caterer 10-11 months before the date. I relied mostly on word of mouth - vendors I knew have done an exceptional job in the past. I looked through Instagram and Facebook to see their work as well. I had a list of priorities where I knew I couldn't compromise on: food was a big one. At a desi wedding, the only thing that your guests care about is food. Photo/video was another priority because that's all that would be left to look at once the big day was over.

I will say, if I had to plan my wedding all over again, I would not change a single vendor. They were all so amazing to work with and they were truly amazing people that I got to know during that year of planning.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
Most girls have a vision of how they want their dress to look like years and years in advance. I just knew I wanted my dress to be the traditional red. I had a few ideas (long top, skirt) but I was very open to other ideas. I traveled to Pakistan for my wedding shopping and relied on word of mouth about which designer would be the best one for me. The first (and only) place we went to was PLK (they're super well known in Pakistan), and that's where I got every single outfit designed (from scratch) for myself. Because I didn't have any specific idea or vision for the dress, I was able to mix and match designs, fabrics, shades of color, and styles for every inch of my wedding dress.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
THE FOOD. To this day, we have family and friends talk about how AMAZING food was at our wedding. I'm so glad I went with Asma's Cuisine. They catered my engagement dinner and I knew that day that they would be the only ones that would cater my wedding.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
We had a very traditional 3 day desi wedding. The first day was mehndi, second was pithi/haldi + sangeet, and the third day was Nikkah in the morning with a reception in the evening.

I didn't have too many ideas for my decor, with the exception of the backdrop for sangeet and reception. Yasmin Khan of RoyalDekors really helped bring out my creative and visionary side and added her own experience and input to come up with decor that would look unique and beautiful for each event.

The dances at the sangeet were another favorite moment. Mo and my friends and our cousins did a 45 minute sequence of dances and a skit that portrayed our love story. We had a cousins/siblings dance for both sides, a girls dance, a guys dance, and a ShoMo dance followed by the skit.

Reception was quick because I really wanted to have a large amount of time dedicated to open dance floor. After our entrance, we had our first dance, cake cutting, speeches, and then we played the shoe game - you know, the one where we sit back to back holding one of each other's shoes as we get asked questions about each other - followed by dinner and dancing.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Start planning early. Us girls have a very specific vision of how we want our wedding to be for years and years. And if that is the case with you, it is best to start planning well in advance to secure your vendors who can make your dream wedding a reality. Come up with a list of things that you do not want to compromise on (for me, it was food and photo/video) and set your budget accordingly. I also think it's so important to try and take your wedding day one moment at a time. The day really flies by fast so enjoy it as much as you can!

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
My makeup and hair was done by Saba Jawed of Color Impressions by Saba. She was so great to work with. Because I didn't have a clear vision for each look, she really worked with me to figure out how to make each look for every event beautiful and unique. She made me look and feel like a Maharani bride.

My mehndi was done by Nikki Karimi from Beauty you Deserve and I LOVED her work. I really wanted mehndi that was very intricate and that's exactly what she did.

I also decided to get fresh flower gajray bracelets made for my sangeet night. Gardlands by Yasmin did that and I think she also did an amazing job. I showed her the color of my outfit and she made beautiful bracelets to match my outfit.

My cake was made by Nausheen Amir of Inspirations Unlimited. I asked her to incorporate my bridal lengha designs into the cake and she did just that. The cake looked spectacular and really complimented by bridal lengha.

We hope you enjoyed today's post, so make sure to visit us back on Monday! We have more for you.

If you are in the pursuit of inspiration, you are in the right place, as today, your motivation and expectation will increase while you fill your heart with tons of inspiring ideas for your dream wedding event. So don't think twice and click the play icon below! You'll love it.

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Nigam and I met on a December evening celebrating our best friend’s birthday 12 years ago. While timing was always an issue, we managed to consistently meet every December. Finally, when our lives aligned I could see he was more than a handsome and charming man, his actions revealed how kind and generous he truly is. We took the time to become best friends and to love one another, now I can honestly say I married by best friend.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
The proposal was unforgettable! It was my 30th birthday and Nigam had made me believe we are meeting friends for a brunch in Brooklyn, NY. He suggested the uber driver to pull over at the beginning of the NYC side of the bridge. When I asked why, he mentioned “it’s a beautiful day, lets walk across the bridge.” Of course my first thought was, “you want me to walk across the bridge…in heels?!” Shortly after, staring at the NYC skyline, he proposed. As soon as I looked up, both sets of parents and our close friends greeted us with excitement. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better…Nigam, with the help of our family and friends, surprised me with a huge after party. Nigam and I believe that all monumental moments in life should be celebrated with the people you love, and that’s exactly how this proposal transpired.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
We wanted a wedding so memorable, it would be an event to talk about for years to come. My father had the most creative and innovative ideas, my father in law always put our guests’ wishes first, and our moms always keeping us happy and healthy. With the help of Artistic Affairs, our planning dreams were put into a reality. Our vendors were all incredible, hard working, and exceeded all of our expectations.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I’ve always known I was not going to wear the traditional bridal red. I wanted an outfit that was decadent and fun. I chose to customize my bridal lengha with Anita Dongre; I kept a pink and gold theme and threw in a pop of green to match with the groom’s sherwani.

It was very important for me to represent all the generations of strong beautiful women in my family on my wedding day. Therefore, my jewelry was one of my favorite parts that helped complete my bridal outfit. I wore the same pancha sankla my mother wore at her wedding, and a gold chandan har that was gifted to me by my late grandmother.

As part of my wedding gift, my closest girlfriends and sister in law gifted me my wedding shoes for the week. The most incredible pair of Christian Louboutins and Jimmy Choos. I couldn’t feel my feet by the end of the week…but I sure felt like a princess!!

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part of the planning process was definitely the time we spent with our families. The process in general is extremely tough and meticulous. We spent almost every free weekend driving to different parts of NY and NJ, meeting with multiple different vendors. I have to say, it was all worth it when you can see the excitement and joy on our families’ faces. All decisions were made with pride and love knowing that each of them just wanted the best for us. It helped that every trip ended with a delicious meal and a large bottle of wine!

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
The uniqueness of it all! Our theme was royal and regal; we used a traditional inspiration with a modern twist. Every detail from the venue, to the decor, to the food selection maintained this theme. Most importantly, we made each event about the guests! The bar and buffet never closed, the music never stopped, each event was an endless party.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
The entire week felt like I was living in a dream that went by in a blink of an eye! One moment that replayed in my mind was when Nigam and I took a second to ourselves. It was the morning before the wedding where he pulled me aside and said, “take in this moment, everyone we know and love will be in one place to celebrate us, this will truly be the best moment of our lives.” Taking those 5 minutes with your soon to be groom, realizing it is all for us…it’s a magical feeling that you will never forget.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.

Enjoy every moment of it! The planning process is extremely difficult and at times beyond stressful, but just know it all flies by in a flash! This is the only time in your life where all the people you love will be in the same place celebrating you, so just expect some parts to go wrong and pay attention to all the parts that went right!

Pflugerville, TX Indian Wedding by Tomas Ramos Photography

The venue was vibing with the dreamy decors crafted by Dhoom Decorations and the pumping beats of DJ Riz Entertainment. Such a lovely ceremony and reception couldn't have been possible without that impressive winning combination! Let's not forget about the traditional hair and makeup looks of Maharani Ami that were created by the super talented Mandy Hernandez. Trust me, you will love every single part of this ceremony, and you will be enchanted by it. Without any question, today's wedding festivity has everything you expect to see at a grand Indian wedding, and so much more! So, wait no more, hit the play icon, and join these lovebirds at the beginning of their happily ever after!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I have always loved the color green and when I was younger, I asked my mom what color her wedding outfit was. She told me green. I've always wanted something passed down from her for my wedding, but since her wedding sari was still in India and we didn't know what condition it was in, I looked for a green lengha. I kind of already had a shade of green in my mind and the type of work, but it was so hard for me to explain it to anyone. So I just kept looking until I found the one. The lengha I ended up getting for my wedding was much more beautiful than what I had in mind.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
When our family and friends came together for our wedding meetings to help us prepare and come up with ideas. I had so many family members, family friends who are like family, aunties, uncles, and cousins who came to help us make all the nashtas and sweets, organize the events in a timely manner, and just making sure that every thing was going to go on to be perfect for me as the bride,  for the wedding weekend.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Whomever I spoke to at the wedding or after the wedding could not stop talking about how much they loved my family's entrance. I didn't have bridesmaids so instead, my entire family did this amazing entrance and dance the whole way down the aisle. It was amazing. I knew about it, but I didn't really know what songs they had chosen and who all was involved until I saw the video.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
The special moment that keeps repeating in my mind was when we first saw each other in the entry way to exchange the garlands.  There were a lot of emotions at that point going through me since we were the center of attention and the time for the wedding had actually come.  It was a feeling of so much excitement while being nervous and loved all at the same time.  I will never forget the feelings of us being lifted up by our families to exchange the garlands.

Come back tomorrow for a new filmy moment that will increase your inspiration. I bet you will love it!
