Gurugram, India Indian Fusion Wedding by Twogether Studios

Good morning, Maharanis! The end of this week is here, but we are not done yet! We still have plenty of more inspiring ideas to share with you, so we are pleased to present to you the filmy of the day. To start, I would like to say that a piece from our heart will always be in India, and Florianne and Sarthak's Indian Fusion Wedding is truly what Maharani's dreams are made of. Stunning and magical are the only words coming to mind right now because I find myself lost of words to describe every detail of this phenomenal film created by Twogether Studios. They captured every aspect of the celebration that mingled two different cultures into one single unity through love. Gurugram, one of the most beautiful cities in India, became the perfect place to celebrate the promise of eternal of this sweet and charming couple. The Leela Ambience hosted this phenomenal event, and everyone had an unforgettable time enjoying every single detail that surrounded this festivity. The smile reflected in our lovely duo's face evidenced the marvelous time they were having at their "big day." To relive this fantastic moment, hit the play icon below. You will be enchanted! So make sure to have your pen and notebook handy because you will want to write down some incredibly inspiring wedding ideas!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
We met in September 2012 in university in the UK. I was an exchange student from the Netherlands and Sarthak was just starting his course. We met in the very first week of the semester and got very attached to each other during that year. We never really allowed anything to happen, since we both knew that we had to go our separate (very different) ways again fairly soon - telling ourselves that things between us could never work out... We went skydiving together at the end of the year as a cool way to say goodbye to each other. That day was magic: after jumping out of the plane we were sitting down together in the sun, our favourite song came on and in that moment we both decided we really didn’t want things to end there. We ended up doing long-distance for 7 years, traveling between London and Amsterdam, up until our wedding.

Sarthak proposed to me in the planetarium in Greenwich, London. I thought he was just taking me to the museum, but he ended up having booked the planetarium that evening just for the two of us. We had a little picnic together under the stars and planets (I was already getting a little suspicious at this point about all this romance..), at one point, a planet popped-up that slowly increased in size. That planet had the words 'Will you marry me?’ written on it. Sarthak was sitting down on one knee with a ring in his hand. It was so special. At that moment I knew we were actually going to spend the rest of our lives together - it was an explosion of emotions.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Since we both lived abroad in separate countries (Sarthak in London en and me in Amsterdam) prior to the wedding, planning a wedding in Delhi was a bit of a challenge. Also, being from the Netherlands and never actually having experienced an Indian wedding before, I felt like I had no idea what I was doing exactly. Sarthak's family were a huge huge huge support in making everything happen and guiding me through the process.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
All the guests from the Netherlands were absolutely blown away by the 'Indian' wedding. It was three days of total joy and tireless celebration. What an experience..!

Was there a really special moment at your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Just the fact that both of our families and closest friends were there. Everyone united. Loving and supporting us. To me, that was what our wedding was all about. Sharing such an important moment with the most important people.

We have more prepared for you, so visit us tomorrow!

We were in Barcelona, which had been a bucket list trip for me for a long time. I thought for sure he was going to propose on this trip, but by the time we reached the last day, I thought maybe I was wrong. We were staying in a hotel that had a highly rated restaurant we had been DYING to try. He had set up a lunch reservation and as we were getting ready, he let me know that the hotel concierge had called to let us know our reservation needed to be pushed a half hour. For the “inconvenience”, they told us to head up to the rooftop bar and they would have drinks for us while we wait. As we started to head upstairs, there were signs on the elevator saying “Out of Order” so we ended up having to walk upstairs. (It turns out the hotel had placed these signs to dissuade anyone from coming to the rooftop while we were there) Once we went upstairs, we were seated in a private area overlooking the city and he told me he had a gift for me! He gave me a photo album he had put together with photos from our 10 years together and once I reached the end, he got down on one knee!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
It was definitely a challenge planning a wedding in NJ from LA. I am so thankful to both of our parents who did so much running around to make sure every detail is exactly what I envisioned. Our vendors were also amazing and flexible in taking meetings over the phone and arranging in person meetings around the few weekends we were available.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
The number one thing we still hear from guests is that the food and the music were perfect! All the food we had at the wedding was well executed and I don’t think there was a SINGLE dish or piece that wasn’t loved. We also had a number of “special requests” that were handled easily and efficiently. The music and our DJs were also great! They had guests on the dance floor the entire night up until the very last song!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
We each have one sister, who over the course of my and my husband’s relationship, have become incredibly close to each other. Together, they created a lot of special moments for us throughout the wedding weekend but one of my favorites is the surprise dance they put together for our reception. The dance included at least 5 different songs (and they choreographed the entire thing!!) The best part about this dance is how they fused together a large group that included friends and family from both sides! It really was such a great representation of our families and friend groups joining together as one.

If you loved this one, wait to see what we have prepared for you tomorrow. So join us by then!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
We met in our fourth year of medical school. We were introduced by a mutual friend but my mom actually met him first (she likes to tell people she arranged the marriage haha!)

I had thrown a Halloween party the night before so we woke up on Saturday morning feeling a little ...rough. At the time we were doing long distance, so sid has planned to take me out to dinner and go somewhere else prior (this might sound suspicious but I didn’t suspect a thing because he loves to be mysterious so this wasn’t new!). It was cold and rainy so I put on a big sweater and boots. Sid is NOT the type to care about my outfit so maybe I should have been suspicious at this point because he told me that I should wear heels...but again I was not even thinking about it. I put on some heels and his surprise destination turned out to be the Adler planetarium! I was very confused because he wanted to walk to the edge of the lake ...in the cold...and rain. We stood at the edge of the lake and he kept telling me to just take in the surroundings and relax - never been my forte so of course, I started asking when we could escape the cold and go inside. Next thing I know he’s down on one knee asking me to marry him! I was so shocked I just remember saying “OMGOMGOMG”. He had the perfect speech planned and had a photographer capture all the candid moments. It was perfect.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Sid and I were both physician residents at the time- I’m anesthesia and he was surgery so we did not have a lot of free time. Add to that the fact that he lived in NJ and I’m in Chicago and wedding planning seemed insurmountable in the beginning. I’m definitely a planner and took to Instagram to start saving venues, bridal looks, and everything wedding related to a personal saved Instagram wedding collection. I have planned large events in college so I sort of had an understanding of how to go about contacting vendors and venues but the wedding arena is unlike any other type of event so I did a lot of learning as I went. I found my hair and makeup artist, Makeup by Mansi, very early on and even before the makeup trial I knew I was going to go with her. Besides the fact that her Instagram portfolio was exactly what I was looking for, she was also so sweet and professional. After doing the bridal trial I was obviously sold and even had her do my mom's hair and makeup. Mansi really made us feel like we had known her forever and we still keep in touch! I actually was not physically in NJ so my parents and Sid did most of the leg work when looking for venues. We knew we wanted to have the wedding in NJ because it would be easiest for both of our families to attend. They saw a lot of places and ultimately stumbled upon the Mansion At Natirar in Peapack. Sid and I both loved the modern feel to this old mansion with so much history. When I visited the venue I was blown away by the view and knew we had to get married there. The food is all grown on-site and our taste test was such a fun experience! We wanted a mix of American and Indian cuisine so we went with Indian catering from Khyber Grill and American catering from our venue, Natirar. Because I wasn’t able to fly to NJ very frequently, I did not get the chance to taste any of the Indian food so I was completely blown away by it at the wedding! The mix of American and Indian food turned out perfectly and all our guests loved it as well. Most importantly, I have a severe nut and lentil allergy and both caterers made sure that none of the food had ingredients I could not eat. In terms of decor, I am more of a minimalist and it was challenging for me to find inspiration online because Indian weddings are typically very ornate! I took a chance and found a beautiful flower vendor on Instagram called Seablossoms Bridal. They had never done an Indian wedding before but that was ok with me because I had never been to an Indian wedding either! They did an incredible job blending Indian decor with my more modern minimalist western taste. They decorated our mandap as well and it was so beautiful people took parts of it home with them!
Finally, we had Arun Bhambri from the detailed affairs team handle our day-of wedding coordination. He was so organized and definitely made sure we stayed on track with timing. He met with us over the phone multiple times leading up to the event and he answered all our texts and emails right away!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
Prior to trying on wedding lehengas, I had never worn a lehenga or sari. This probably sounds insane to most people reading this but I was so nervous at what I would look like and how I should wear it. We flew to Bombay to shop and my cousin helped me a lot by finding stores to go to and encouraging me to try different styles and colors. I thought I would end up in a baby pink/pastel color. However, we finally ended up at Anita Dongre and I knew I had found the lehenga when my mom started crying the second she saw me in it. The best part was, Anita Dongre is her favorite designer! The lehenga was a bright red with gold and blue embroidery of elephants, birds, and deer. It was so beautiful! The Anita Dongre store itself was gorgeous and the people working there were very accommodating and friendly!
I also wanted to wear a white dress for my reception and I found it at Bijou Bridal in Paramus. I am a very decisive person so I honestly had not tried on too many dresses prior to finding the one. The saleswomen were so helpful and made sure I stayed within my budget!

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
I truly loved it all! People find this very weird and of course, I became stressed as the date got closer. As I said before, I am definitely a planner so I was on top of everything when it came to sending out save the dates and invites, picking vendors etc. I loved finding all these different vendors that would come together to make our day so special!

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Our guests LOVED the baraat! Many of my friends had never seen one before so this was a really special experience. My bridesmaids joined in on the fun as well! Sid has a great time with the horse and there are such fun videos and photos of our families enjoying themselves. I had so much FOMO that I had my wedding coordinator FaceTime me from the baraat!!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
There was a point at the wedding when Sid and I were on the mandap during the ceremony and our pundit told us all to look to the sky at Ganesh. Prior to this, the clouds had been out but the second he said those words we all looked up and the clouds parted and the sun came out! It still gives me chills, and so many people were excited about it afterward.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
The sangeet was a total surprise for me! I did not even know what I was wearing!! My mother in law had my outfit custom made and got the jewelry to go with it! It somehow all fit perfectly and I loved it I felt like princess jasmine (if she wore pink!). The decor was all hues of pink. My mother in law is Kashmiri and the Kashmiri family had a folk song and dance, which was so unique and fun! Finally, all 12 of my bridesmaids surprised me with a sangeet dance- the biggest surprise was when my mom joined in!

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Don’t let anyone tell you what to do/not to do for your wedding!! Each wedding is a unique representation of the bride and groom and your guests will love everything you choose because they love you!

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
Jewelry- The rose gold and diamond earrings I wore with my white dress were custom made and gifted to me by my parents. They are so beautiful and shiny!!
- Most of the jewelry worn for the ceremony was from Reemat designs- she is so easy to work with and such a wonderful person!
- The gold bangles were borrowed from my mom :)

More coming up, don't go anywhere!

Cambridge, MD Indian Wedding by Mike Simon's Video

Welcome back to your Indian wedding inspiration corner on the web! It is time for a gorgeous feature film that came to us from Cambridge, and it's this lavish flair that is all things enchanting, to say the least! We know about the obvious visual talent from Mike Simon's Video, so be sure that today's highlight reel has everything you want out of a grand Indian wedding experience! Just as amazing as the picture gallery by Modern Frames Photography that we featured some months ago. This couple decided to go with a traditional aesthetic but with a modern touch up. The proof of that is the striking fashion choices these two lovebirds made for the most important day of their lives. So chic and contemporary! The Hyatt Chesapeake Bay, beautifully decorated and designed by Glamorous Event Planners, was vibing with M4U Events' starlight dance floor as we will see! Such a dazzling ceremony couldn't have been possible without a team like that! You know who to call if a celebration for the books is what you seek! So, hit play and join Anjali & Rohit's path to the aisle, only here, in Maharani Weddings.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
I was about to finish my masters program for occupational therapy when Rohit introduced the idea of celebrating by traveling to Aruba for a relaxing getaway before I started my fieldwork and before I got busy studying for the board exam. I didn't know how I would ever get my parents to agree, however, Rohit ultimately ended up convincing me to ask them. Which, by the way, they never really agreed to - they told me to do what I thought was best.

As the days got closer, I was a little skeptical that Rohit was going to propose in Aruba, however, my friends were in on the plan and down played the situation. When we were in Aruba, Rohit made every night so special that I really did not suspect a thing.

The second to last evening of the vacation, Rohit told me that he scheduled a private wine tasting on the beach with a sommelier. I still didn't think anything was out of the ordinary because I love going to wine tastings. During the wine tasting, the sommelier briefly interrupted, which was when Rohit took me on a walk along the beach and surprisingly proposed. Although Rohit surprised me with the proposal, our amazing family surprised us both with a private chef and dinner on the beach. It was the perfect ending to the night and we were able to call many friends and family to share the wonderful news.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
We visited various venues and they all had their own unique flair, but, once we found the Hyatt in Cambridge, we knew it was the perfect destination. It was a location that made the wedding feel like a vacation without the need for friends/family to travel too far from home. The hospitality of Kate Hopkins and her team from the Hyatt was amazing. They were always open-minded to the various ideas that we were trying to do at the resort. A common theme we noticed throughout the planning process was that we primarily stuck with vendors that brought us positive energy like Kate. For instance, Eric DeHaven, our photographer from Modern Frames Photography, was such an easy-going person to work with and he was the first vendor we booked. Sunita & Tejal from Glamorous Events did whatever it took to impress us with decorations/planning without needing a crazy amount of direction.  Dimpy from Moghul catering was always trying to wow us with their artistic and delicious food, which truly showed for each event. Josh (JRK) from MVPDJs grew up during the same generation and we connected instantly with our music tastes, which made the baraat and reception that much more fun. Bhavna from Henna & Arts cared about every element and helped me create a story which represented both of our families within my mehndi.  Esha and Meshi from Glam n Glow kept me calm the entire time that I was getting my hair/makeup done and truly made me feel comfortable with my look (I'm a simple girl who doesn't like getting dolled up). Overall, we just wanted to be surrounded by people who were uplifting, funny, sweet, and caring, and we are so fortunate for everything they all did to make our day so special.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I have always been the type of person who needs to try on something to really know if I like it. I really didn't want to travel oversees, so my mom, dad, and I went to all the desi shops in Edison, NJ. I tried on so many outfits, but when I tried on my wedding ceremony lengha, I knew it was the one because I didn't want to take it off. I made the jump to purchase it without overthinking it too much and I am so happy that I found my dress by using my first instinct and it was such a relief to not have to worry too much about it.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part of the planning process was the extra time I was spending with my family and friends. Rohit and I are very lucky to have them and planning with them made the process so much more fun. I spent a lot of my time with my parents, soaking in every last bit of them before my final move. I bonded a lot with my sister in law, Promita, who was a complete life savor throughout it all. I also really got to know my mother in law during the process and now we don't go more then a couple days without talking to each other!

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
We really tried to put a lot of thought into our guests' experience for the wedding. We wanted them to have a memorable time and to truly enjoy themselves. I think the guests loved all the outdoor venues that were offered by the Hyatt Chesapeake Golf Resort because it made it almost like a getaway trip without being too far from home. We also made sure they were fed the entire time because no one likes to be hangry.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
As soon as I entered the venue, I felt love everywhere I went. I was initially greeted at the hotel by my nieces who drew me a picture of me as a bride. I then walked into my suite and was surprised with a special plate of homemade pani puri from my mother in law and father in law, they know me too well! My cousin's Shanna and Miguel delivered my favorite tacos all the way from El Agave in Catonsville, MD right before our Sangeet night, knowing I probably wouldn't have time to eat at the event itself. My husbands aunt and uncle brought us special craft beer all the way from Red Tank in Red Bank, NJ. On top of all the treats, our friends and family put together an amazing performance which brought so much energy to the entire weekend. Those are just a handful of generous and thoughtful things that our friends and family did to make us feel so special. The personal love we received throughout our wedding week from everyone was really indescribable.

We are heading to a wonderful reception party! Would you join us?
