Bollywood singer Benny Dayal & Catherine's Wedding, Bangalore, India, by Doodle Studio Wed-Deography

Picture this: soft spring sun slowly sets, and with a romantic song in the background, a gorgeous bride walks down the aisle to meet the love of her life; the couple shares their intimate, meaningful vows, witnessed by family and the closest of friends, all doused in the essence of their wedding bliss. Yep, that sums up the private albeit whimsical wedding of Bollywood singer Benny Dayal and model-actress Catherine Thangam, marking the end of 6 years of long distance! Doodle Studio Wed-Deography created a cinematic masterpiece that captured every special moment, and included chronicles from their Moroccan-themed Mehendi & Sangeet, hosted at the rustic Temple Tree Leisure in Bangalore. Catherine and Benny welcomed their guests with “Marhabas” into a royal ambience with tents and drapes in rich colors like gold, midnight blue, purple, and red. The ceremony was a blend of Hindu and Catholic rituals, with the mandap done up aesthetically in ochre yellow and tawny drapes, finished with floral detailing. In keeping with the muted color palette, Catherine chose a soft pink tulle Sabyasachi sari with floral thread work and exquisite beading. Her bridesmaids were dressed in a quintessential white-and-gold Kerala sari. Flawless makeup by Sabrina Suhail gave Catherine’s cheeks a subtle flush, and a peachy glow overall. Benny's outfit complemented Catherine’s, but he kept it simple in a traditional Mundu with zari work, teamed with a white kurta. The wedding was attended by music prodigy AR Rahman, Vishal Dadlani, Neeti Mohan, Mika Singh and a host of other celebrities. Planned by Divya Vithika Wedding Planners and photographed by Sephi Bergerson Photography, touching speeches and spectacular fireworks made for ideal finishing touches to the three-day affair.

We have amazing wedding content lined up for you, so be sure to come back tomorrow!

Winnipeg, Canada Sikh Wedding by Michael J. Scott Productions

There are some Indian weddings that absolutely take your breath away. The colors, the lighting, and of course, the beautiful bride. Maharani Sarnjeet is no stranger to the world of luxury and glamour; her wedding ceremony was one of the most lavish events to come out of Winnipeg, Canada. After viewing the next day edit of the festivities from Michael J. Scott Productions, I can say that I was completely blown away. The prestigious wedding ceremony took place at the Sikh Society of Manitoba and the venue for the reception was held at the uniquely designed RBC Convention Centre Winnipeg. Sarnjeet’s reception was the very first Indian event to occupy the massive convention center. Only a large convention center would be suitable for this Maharani; the guest list for this explosive affair topped over 1,200 party goers! Every fine detail was caught on camera by Moore Photography and Events by Emma completely tipped the scale by organizing and planning this blockbuster event. The RBC Convention Centre is a fabulous venue by itself, but, couple that with the amazing talent of Academy Florists and Dream Day Decorators and clearly it is apparent why this event was so over the top! The venue was lit to perfection by Elite Lighting but, no form of illumantion could overshadow the work of Makeup Expressions by Rimpal and Hair by Danielle. Sarnjeet simply glowed in a way that only a true Maharani could on her special day. This is by far one of the most elegant and thought out Indian weddings I have ever seen. Everything gleamed with perfection and if I had to possibly choose my favorite aspect of this royal affair, it would have to be the couple treating their guests to a late night snack with three different food trucks! Full to the brim with pizza, hot dogs, and mini doughnuts, there were treats for all ages. Also, who wouldn't love a magician performing magic acts as you sipped on a martini? Truly an event that has to be seen to be believed!

We had the distinct pleasure of reliving this glorious affair with the bride herself. If you ever wondered how such a glamorous event came to be, keep reading!

Tell us about your wedding style. When you sat down to really figure out how your dream wedding would look, did you start with one central color, a palette of colors, or a theme that served as your inspiration?

It was very important to both of us that we not only focus on the décor and theme for our reception, but that we also put the same effort into the wedding day at the gurudwara. We had two different themes for the two days; we wanted the gurudwara to be decorated in bright, vibrant colours whereas we wanted the reception to be elegant with a color palette of blues silvers and whites. The theme really came together when we brought our ideas to our amazing event planner Emma from Events by Emma, who then executed everything exactly as how we had envisioned.

How did you choose your lengha or lenghas? Did you work with a certain designer? Did you spend hours on the internet first?

My parents and I went to India to do all the wedding shopping. I was expecting it to be easy but was very surprised on how overwhelming it actually was. I had an idea on what I wanted to wear for the wedding day but due to my two week time restriction it was difficult to find something that did not require alterations. Thankfully I found Nilibar in Ludhiana, Punjab where I bought both my engagement and wedding day lengha. As for my reception lengha I wanted something bright and easy to dance in and was fortunate to find a readymade lengha that required no alterations at the store Saakshaat in Ludhiana, Punjab.

Looking back, was there a really special moment that you remember from your wedding that stands out as the most magical?

We both feel that our reception night was the most magical, we remember looking at the dance floor at 2:00 am and it was still packed with everyone dancing and having a good time. We had planned this wedding for two years with Emma and it was amazing to have our family and friends dance the night away with us.

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (Jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)

Our next day edit by Michael J Scott from MJS Productions went way beyond our expectations. We did two engagement shoots at locations that Michael had found; Pinawa Dam and Grand Beach in Manitoba. We had no idea how those clips were going to be incorporated into the next day edit but we put our trust in Michael and were truly blown away. The next day edit was played for the first time at the reception and was an amazing surprise for us and our family and friends. We truly feel it captured the 5 days of events beautifully into 10 minutes and really have to thank Michael and his team for all their efforts.

Our wedding had a guest list of 1,200 people and our goal was to keep it organized but more importantly that our guests had fun. As we had 5 days of events we wanted to keep each event different. Our engagement was held outside at Buntys house and we chose a color palette of green, yellow and gold.

We had our reception at the RBC Convention Centre in a newly constructed building and we were the first Indian Wedding in the venue. At the reception we treated our guests to a late night snack with three different food trucks (pizza, hot dogs, and mini doughnuts). We had a magician come in during cocktail hour to entertain and had a bhangra performance during our program. Our DJ's Mandip and Gary from MIB Roadshow from British Columbia did a phenomenal job in engaging the crowd. We had glow sticks and fog machines and all night we heard guests comment that they felt they were at a concert in Vegas.

Thank you Sarnjeet for sharing your incredible wedding with us! We will be back tomorrow with another beautiful Indian wedding to highlight!

Tampa Bay, FL Indian Wedding by Riant Films

Truly one of the most beautiful ceremony I have ever seen! Riant Films did an amazing job in capturing what can only be called true love with Pratiksha and Anand’s spectacular Indian Wedding extravaganza. Gaciel Santana Photography captured all the stunning events at the Grand Hyatt in Tampa Bay. The venue itself was mesmerizing on its own, however, Nikun Events Company transformed the spacious quarters for a party fit for a Maharani. A stellar wedding would not be possible without an amazing Wedding Planner; Urvashi Mishra, Wedding & Event Planner, to be exact. Pratiksha’s hair and makeup was picture perfect with Michelle Rene The Studio spearheading the very important task of dolling up a Maharani. The soft glowing lights by Dudha Productions enhanced our bride’s beauty and lit up the event. Guests partied on the dance floor with the pulsating beats also from Dudha Productions while munching on some very delectable catered cuisine from Rajbhog. Anand’s entrance into his wedding is one for the books! Riding up in class in a horse driven carriage from St.Petersburg Carriages, was simply one of the most romantic baraat entrances I have ever seen!

Stay tuned for another mesmerizing Indian event. The outfits, venues and special moments just keep getting better and better!
