Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
This is one for the books so prepare yourself. April 16th, 2015. I woke up 6am that morning knowing I had to drop my best friend (my matron of honor) to the JFK airport, and the only reason I agreed to do this is because Sandy is literally the only person I would wake up that early for. My Mom and Dad somewhat rushing me out of the house because they didn't want me to be late in picking up Sandy which was odd but I didn't think too much of it. I picked up Sandy with her luggage on our drive to the airport she was texting on her phone the entire time and I asked what was going and she made up some story that she was fighting with her husband to distract me. We pull up curbside to the drop off area, I get out of the car to help her with her luggage and suddenly I feel someone turn me around and it was Mike! He went down on one knee and as he did it, I saw all my parents, his parents family and friends come out through the terminal gate doors all with their phone cameras in their hands and I was in complete shock. He proposed and I literally couldn't speak, and just nodded yes. Sandy handed me her luggage and said this is for you. It wasn't just a proposal but a surprise engagement getaway to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic for 3 days. When I left my house that morning Mike and my closest girlfriends when into my house to with my mom to pack some clothes and things I would need for my trip. Here I thought I was just going to work. It was the perfect proposal and I literally had no clue. You know a girl is surprised when her nails aren't done and makeup isn't on. Mike really thought about everything. He got permission from my parents and even called me job and my supervisor to ensure it was okay to whisk me away for couple of days. Aside from our wedding days, it was one of the best moments of my life.
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part of our planning was realizing that Mike was not the typical groom but definitely a partner. Planning and vision was definitely a joint effort and gave me an example of how our marriage would be; a true partnership.
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
I felt our guests definitely loved all the dance performances but the Hindu wedding and the feeling that they were in actual Bollywood movie at times and really just enjoying themselves at the wedding. Most of our families are still talking about it.
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Well it was more so two special moments...being carried in my dholi and then being able to walk down the aisle and both times just focusing on Mike seeing how genuinely happy he was... it wasn't just in his smile but you could see it in his eyes as well. I'll never forgot that.
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Forgot about trying to be "different" and just build a vision that works for both you and your future husband/partner. Once your wedding week begins don't stress when things are perfect but know it always just works itself out. The days go by so quickly so try to take in every moment you can... together.
We can't stop cooing over this darling couple and their beautiful love story! See you tomorrow with another fabulous wedding film!
