Flagstaff, AZ Engagement Film by Sameer Soorma Studios

Dear Maharanis, we have such a special treat for you today! We just had to feature Sheena and Tom's candy-coated engagement film because we think it's such great inspiration for all you newly engaged couples! Ever the innovative photojournalists, Sameer Soorma Studios put together a captivating storyline, cinematic transitions and locales seemingly straight out of Pleasantville for lovebirds Sheena and Tom to celebrate their engagement. Sheena and Tom, both lawyers from Phoenix, TX, are nature, candy, and biking aficionados and love to visit Flagstaff, AZ. Thus, a concept was born featuring a candy store heist, sweeping views of poppy fields, and romantic bicycling through the adorable streets of Flagstaff! It is such a beautiful showcase of their personalities and relationship, and we think this engagement film will be a very special keepsake for Sheena and Tom in the years to come! Since engagements are such precious, brief moments in time, we here at Maharani Weddings love the idea of E-films, and hope this gives all of you newly engaged couples ideas on how you'd like to celebrate your engagement!

Too adorable! Excuse us while we attempt to whip up some candy apples!

Cockeysville, MD Indian Fusion Wedding by RIMAS FILMS

All that glitter, glows! Happy Monday Maharanis! Today’s enchanting love tale is one that may seem very familiar to most of you. Maharani Anita and Gaurav’s relationship began with the college years and a budding relationship between two best friends eventually turned into a royal wedding affair. Before they knew it, the big day was here and it was time to celebrate! The bride wore several outfits that showcased her style and glamour. On the wedding day, the outfit of choice was a dazzling red and gold lengha that sparkled for miles! Hair and makeup was on point by Beautique by Sapna. On a cool, crisp Autumn day, the duo wed at the Grand Lodge Of Maryland. Gaurav’s wedding party made a grand entrance to the venue with Dholi P from WeGoDisco drumming the Indian beats. The couple wed under an open face mandap outfitted with dangling floral designed by Imperial Decor. Guests enjoyed eats from CK Nigam of Akbar Palace before leaving the venue to get ready for the reception party at The Grand Lodge of Maryland. Maharani Anita changed out of her bridal garb and slipped into a beautiful royal and blue gold lengha. This was a never ending party with DJ Lucky of Platinum Entertainment on the turntables and guests on the dance floor dancing out to the latest hits - fully equipped with stunna shades! Boasting a pastry case of scrumptious slices to satisfy any of the guest’s sweet tooth, IndAroma offered up cakes and treats to the masses. Guests enjoyed making their own memories with a photo booth provided by Baltimore's Premier Event SolutionsWe are hoping to catch a glimpse of the stills of the chain of events captured by Garrett Frandsen real soon! But, until then kick up your feet and hit play for this cinematic film shot by RIMAS FILMS. P.S. I loved Anita’s glitter infused bridal footwear!

Atlanta, GA, Indian Wedding by WalkOnWater Productions

If you’re a regular to Maharani Weddings, we are sure you’ve seen a bunch of heartwarming videos that hit us right in the feels, and unknowingly give butterflies in our stomachs. Well, Payal and Chintan’s wedding film by WalkOnWater Productions was all that + a little more. Forgive us for getting a little technical here, but the way these cinematographers retained some of the audio (for instance, the “oohs” and “aahs” from the crowd when they cheered during the Baraat) made us connect with the film so much! In addition, the choice of music built the anticipation of seeing Payal in her bridal attire for the first time, her walking down the aisle, and then tying the knot. The Buckhead Theater was the chosen venue for the ceremony, one that Weddings InStyle embellished with Art Deco motifs, and in varying tones of pearl white. During the Baraat, all the women put on masquerades, which looked super fun and cute! The page boys in their matching blue kurtas, and flower girls in purple and gold lehengas, walked down the aisle holding some adorable signs (don’t miss that part when you watch the video!) We got our first glimpse of the mandap at this point, which looked like a palatial mansion from a movie set! Off white curtains with fringed latkans (tassels) were draped between the pillars, both finished with gold accents and embroidery. The main stage backdrop featured stunning organza drapes with detailed mirror work borders. Payal then made her way to the mandap in a traditional orange-red georgette lehenga, and a tulle dupatta draped like a veil. Erica Bogart Beauty primped our Maharani’s makeup with a coral, matte finish, with bindis all along her brow line, accentuating her statement matha patti. The two were then happily united in nuptial bliss, and jetted off to Hyatt Regency Atlanta for the reception, in a festooned car that read “Ten Years in the Making." Just like the ceremony, the soiree setup looked like an elegant, royal fête. Shades of blue juxtaposed with antique gold made for a visual treat, and the real show-stealer was the stage decor: paneled, damask columns separated framed displays of candles and flowers, and a stunning gold sofa seated the newly weds. Payal donned an embroidered floor-length in midnight blue, while Chintan offset all the blue in a grey suit. Cafe Bombay catered the delicacies of choice and pleased everyone’s palates, while Indaglow Productions had the guests dancing the night away with their dancey music!

Hit play to be inspired by this theatric wedding film, that was photographed by Derek Wintermute. Don’t forget to come back to the blog tomorrow for fresh wedding ideas and inspiration!

Orlando, Florida Indian Wedding by Castaldo Studios

This Maharani swiped right! Luxury, culture and creativity clash in this epic Indian wedding out of Orlando, Florida! One of my favorite aspects of any wedding is how much thought and detail the Bride and Groom go into to make their wedding different from others. Maharani Shetal wed her beau Keyur at the monumental Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando, Florida. From the large, thunderous baarat led by a cherry red Lamborghini from Prestige Luxury Rentals, to the hilariously entertaining introduction video shot by one of their friends; this Indian wedding was unique indeed. The wedding celebration started out with the Garba and Raas night held at Grand Cypress where both the bride and groom’s side got down in the colorful venue. The Grand Cypress was to hold all the grand events that followed after: the lavish wedding and charismatic reception. Maharani Shetal most certainly captured the essence of an Indian bride! On her wedding day, Shetal wore a gorgeous cream, red and green sari from Vulcal Boutique that was covered tastefully with a gold, bridal jewelry set and was dolled up by Sheny Aladdin. The wedding ceremony took place under a handcrafted mandap bedecked with glittering stone crystals by Dlightful Events. After the wedding came to an end, the bride and groom sped off in style in a luxurious Lamborghini. The reception party commenced shortly after where the guests were treated to a homemade film with a hilarious introduction acted out by the bride and groom. The bride played homage to the sea in a viridescent green and orange bridal gown that matched her decor by Dlightful Events perfectly. The Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress was lit by DJ Sangeen on the turntables and Catering Specialties dished out pizza and pastas at their chef stations. Guests enjoyed creating memories in the Photo Booth by Photo Booth Rocks while Castaldo Studios and Assad Images created cinematic and photographic memories to last a lifetime. I was extremely impressed with Keyur’s proposal to Shetal! Shetal loves beluga whales and this Maharaja arranged for a beluga whale to bring a ring box to his future wife on one of their dates! Fellas, this has to be some major inspiration! Having met on Tinder, we could see why both personalities of the bride and groom immersed perfectly to create a union that is truly uncanny; these two just shine from the screen!

We hope you enjoyed this love story! Return back tomorrow for more Maharani Madness!

Newark, NJ, Indian Wedding by Everlasting Moments

Two words: quintessentially royal. How else could you describe a couple who was the first ever to be engaged at the top of the Freedom Tower, on the day of its opening? Shivani and Nilesh’s happily-ever-after began on 11 June, spanned over three events, and was captured by the talents over at Everlasting Moments. With their pechant for royalty, The Castle was the perfect Sangeet venue, where families doubled up as multifaceted performers dancing to the tunes of DJ BK Trehan, along with garba, raas and bhangra! Shivani’s stunning deep green halter neck blouse with a purple lehenga further accentuated the vibrancy of the event. The Sangeet wasn’t the only event where guests had a wild time dancing - Nilesh’s welcome was an absolute ball, thanks to Echo Lake Stables’ Baraat, and Harsh Tevar’s dhol. Imagine Lifestyles turned up Nilesh's swag by a notch with their exotic cars. Our Maharani entered the Newark Liberty International Airport Marriott in a gold palanquin for the ceremony, officiated by Pandit Prabhakar Sharma. Props to Wedding Design for the stellar decor! The Mandap featured shimmery drapes, crystal lights, and a beautiful two-dimensional floral Lord Ganesha on the draped white backdrop; credits go to Pauline Robles for the draping and styling. For the ceremony, Shivani was dressed in an exquisitely embroidered red and gold lehenga from Delhi’s Ushnak Mal Mool Chand, and gorgeous Kundan jewelry from Tanishq. Nilesh donned a festive white and red sherwani. We were in awe of Ruchi’s Mehendi’s intricately detailed mehendi, and the cake by Palermo’s bakery which featured airplanes to represent the “airport wedding.” Speaking of delicacies, guests were treated to Indian delicacies by Bukhara Grill. This elaborate wedding had Elite Events taking care of Day Of Coordination duties, Parekh Cards to churn out invitations and wedding stationery; Singhar by Ayesha beautified all the bridesmaids and family, and Nazzakat dressed up all the bridesmaids in fab sarees! The reception, also hosted at the Newark Liberty International Airport Marriott, featured the Same Day Edit video by Everlasting Moments, which added an element of surprise for the guests. “We still hear comments months later about how amazing DJ Juicy was, months after the wedding,” gushed Shivani.

We spoke to our Maharani, who shared exclusive noteworthy moments and insider details with us:

How did you meet your Raja and when did you know he was "the one"?
Nilesh and I met while we both attended Binghamton University. Nilesh was a year older than me, and I spotted him at the first Indian Student Union meeting on campus. We officially met days later at a house party. We started dating a few years later. Despite being a little nervous, Nilesh did all of the right things when I brought him over to meet my parents, and I knew at that moment, he was the first and last guy I would ever bring home to my parents.

Do you have a super romantic proposal story or engagement memory?
I'm biased, but I think I am one of the luckiest girls because of our epic proposal. We were the first couple to ever be engaged at the top of 1 World Trade Center (The New Freedom Tower) on May 29th, 2015, the opening day on the 102nd floor. Nilesh had rented out the floor for just us two. Nilesh had told me weeks prior to the opening, that his job had raffled off tickets to the opening day of the Freedom Tower, and that we would get a private tour, as well as an opportunity to visit the observation deck, followed by a cocktail hour with his company's partners. I HAD NO CLUE this was all a set-up. Once the proposal was over, our event manager said "Congratulations! You're the first to be engaged here!"

Tell us about your wedding style. When you sat down to really figure out how your dream wedding would look, did you start with one central color, a palette of colors, or a theme that served as your inspiration?
I was always a traditional girl- I favored reds and golds. I based our ceremony a lot on the red/orange/gold lehanga I had bought from Delhi, India, and I based our reception color palette on the turquoise/baby blue I wore at night.

What did you enjoy most about the process of planning your dream Indian wedding?
SHOPPING and solidifying what a great team my husband and I make. I LOVED shopping in India. I love visiting my family there, and pairing that with wedding shopping was such a beautiful experience. My mother and father both joined me for my bridal lehanga shopping and picking out jewelry. It was such a memorable experience.

How did you choose your lengha or lenghas? Did you work with a certain designer? Did you spend hours on the internet first?
I chose three lehengas for the sangeet, ceremony and the reception. All of them were purchased in Delhi, between Karol Bagh and South Extension. I set up extensive Pinterest boards and did lot of research online about the best places to shop in Delhi, but I ended up buying the best ouftits at family-recommended shops. I didn't want a custom lehanga because I had heard stories about girls who didn't like the final product, but I wasn't worried because I knew my outfit would find me in all cases, even if it was completely different from what I envisioned, which is EXACTLY what happened.

Looking back, was there a really special moment that you remember from your wedding that stands out as the most magical?
I still get chills when I watch videos our friends took of us walking around the fire. I've dreamt of that moment since I was a little girl- what it would look like, how it would feel, who he would be, and the reality versus the dream couldn't be more closely matched.

Did you and your Raja have a special song that you danced to as your first dance? How did you choose it?
We to Pehla Nasha from Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander. I'm a huge Bollywood movie fan and I've been dancing and singing the songs ever since I was 5. That song is so special to us because it was the first Hindi song Nilesh sang to me.

How about hair and makeup? Did you already have a style in mind or did you work with a specialist to find your perfect look?
I went to one makeup/hair trial before going to Pauline who ultimately did my hair and makeup for the wedding day. I had an idea for my ceremony hair style because I wanted to stay traditional with my hair up and covered by my dupatta. For the evening, I originally had no idea, but my first stylist helped formulate an idea, and Pauline was the one who perfected it.

Did family or friends help out with certain special details that really added to the event?
Both sets of our parents were our rocks throughout this process, and without them the wedding would not have been possible. They were extremely supportive and encouraged us to have the wedding we always dreamt of, but were so considerate of the other side at the same time. Without their consideration we wouldn't have married the cultures- Gujarati and Punjabi- as well as we did. Our older brothers and our sister in laws were equally as supportive and helpful, running around for us when we couldn't. Our close friends and cousins enhanced our sangeet with their incredible dances with the hours they put into preparing for our special day.

Come back tomorrow for a complete rundown on yet another splendid wedding!
