Riviera Maya, Mexico Indian Wedding by Christian Pleva Images

I’m sure you will feel a little closer to summer with the beautiful beach elopement of Manasi and Rohin. The pristine turquoise waters of Playa del Carmen witnessed the nuptials of these lovebirds who decided to pack their bags and have all their loved ones travel to this dreamy paradise! The exclusive Fives Resort Azul Beach accommodated all the wedding travelers as soon as they arrived to get ready for the wedding festivities. The bride started off the celebrations with an intimate mehndi session with all her female relatives and friends. With her arms beautifully adorned, Manasi was ready to hit the dance floor, with her soon to be husband Rohin, in a traditional Sangeet night by the pool. I’m sure our lovebirds wanted to know about relaxation in this tropical setting only. To achieve this important goal, the bride and groom left all their plans in the hands of the destination wedding team VIP Vacations. They made sure every day ran smoothly and gave these two the wedding they have always imagined! The oceanfront wedding ceremony, the beautiful entourage outfits, and the tropical vibe made the scene just magical. Thankfully, the cameras of the Christian Pleva Images’ crew chronicled all the love Manasi and Rohin professed to each other in a well-achieved highlight film. Make sure to hit play and enjoy the gorgeous sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters of this beach elopement!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
We first met at my place. I was throwing a party for my friend’s birthday. He was a friend of a friend and came over. Funny thing was, he wasn’t planning to come that night because he was exhausted but made a last minute decision. -        I thought he was cute and immediately did NOT want to talk to him so I politely showed him where the food and drinks were and tried to ignore him. I was going through a happy single phase in my life and didn’t want the distraction. Obviously that was a fail. Over the next few months we dated and I think I just knew no one else would compare.

Haha- I was not subtle. I was in a place in my life where I was not playing around. I knew what I wanted and I would oh so casually drop hints. It was about a year after we started dating. I remember I was going to go to India in the summer and told him how great it would be if I could just get my wedding shopping done. LOL. I have ZERO filter. I can’t believe he still considered marriage! Well, he proposed two weeks before my trip. I was totally surprised because he kept saying he didn’t want to be rushed and also tried to throw me off by telling me we were going out of town the next weekend….which I thought might be the moment.

Wrong. Two weeks before I left, we went about our day like any other Saturday. Got up casually, went to the dry cleaners. His parents wanted some family visiting from India to see Boston and were bringing them into the city. We were planning to meet them near the Charles River (where we live). Rohin suggested this pier we always go to watch sunsets, hang out/ drink wine. It’s actually my favorite spot on the Charles and I had been going there for years since I moved to Boston. That afternoon, I was wearing shorts and tshirt. Rohin kept insisting I put on a dress since we were going to meet family. I was actually getting upset because I didn’t think anyone should care what I was wearing. Rohin knows me so well and knew I would be mad if the photos had me in shorts. Anyway, here we are sitting on the pier, waiting. I turn around and see his brother and entire family (parents/grandparents) walking up the walkway to the pier, his brother playing the ukulele (casually). I was so confused but I knew we were going to meet them so I wasn’t surprised. However, as I went to hug his mom, she told me to turn around. Rohin proposed and I obviously said yes (not 100% sure but I think that word came out of my mouth). The best part is, the family members who were visiting who I had never seen before, were sitting on the dock with us and recorded the entire thing! It was beautiful. Not extravagant, not cheesy, and represented the things we love in our lives- each other and family

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Both of us wanted to have a wedding to celebrate but didn’t want people to come just because it was a big indian wedding and people LOVE indian weddings. We opted for a destination wedding instead in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. We contacted VIP Vacations to help us figure this piece out. Though they do travel, the CEO/founder Jennifer knows the wedding industry well and they have helped several previous brides before find a place outside of the US for a semi-traditional indian wedding. They recommended Azul Fives for us and it was perfect. Jennifer provided a very organized excel from a previous wedding that helped me plan my wedding. We took about 90% of the decor with us, kept it bright and colorful, and traditional but with some modern elements. My hair and makeup were done by my best friend who is a celebrity hair and makeup artist in Hollywood (Kerrie Urban). Talk about unbelievable!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I went India and already had some ideas in mind so in one day got everything!

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Working with VIP Vacations and Azul Fives to customize our events including the beach welcome party.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
It was a huge 4 day party on the beach!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Walking down the pier surrounded by beautiful blue water

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
Sangeet: I loved the color and lights
Reception: Rooftop+crazy DJ+beach= AMAZING

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Dream weddings do not need to be large or expensive. A wedding is only a few days but a marriage is forever so make sure your priorities are straight.

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
I felt the entire wedding was truly representative of my style given I was able to design and implement the entire decor of the wedding. What I also really loved was we were the first couple to be married at the private location on the beach at Azul Fives. They made it happen and I am so thankful!

See you tomorrow, dolls!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
We met through a mutual friend, who kept saying that we would be a good match for one another.  It took us a couple of tries to connect, but when it happened, it happened quickly! We like to say a lot of things fell in place - everything came to us at the right time. We had lived in the same city for two years and had never met. The mutual friend and I also met in a very unique set of circumstances - I had come to Boston for a social enterprise competition and met her there through my teammate.
In terms of being the "one," there was no single moment, but from the beginning, he would do what he say he would do. His verbal integrity was key for us. So important, ladies!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
For me, it was really about organization. I had many friends who had gotten married and I asked them questions about who they had used and what they wish they had done differently. I went to a Shaadi Showcase with my mom and that was very helpful in checking out vendors. Some friends were super helpful in giving me planning worksheets. Excel is your friend!

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part was planning out the decorations and envisioning how they would look. Also liked picking out songs. Also liked working with my friends and the excitement of the surprise of what they were going to put together.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
The food! We had three different types of food at each event.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Organization is key. Try to be early on booking vendors, etc.

Riviera Maya, Mexico Indian Fusion Wedding by Dean Sanderson Weddings

Happy Valentine’s Day Maharanis! On this wonderful holiday, we’ve brought you an extra special wedding film filled with hearts, roses, and an adorable couple. Khomarie and Saieid’s wedding feature compelled us to pause multiple times while viewing, in order to take a closer look at each lovely moment captured by Dean Sanderson Photography. The effort this couple put into blending various elements of their diverse Hindu and Muslim backgrounds clearly showed. The combination of the rich traditions, picturesque locale, and plenty of glitter and glam resulted in one sensational soiree! A clear highlight was definitely Khomarie’s bridal outfits, featuring oodles of sparkling details and accessorized with layers of royal jewels. Bridal Rang by Samiha dolled Khomarie up for each of her events, and she looked absolutely ethereal throughout the proceedings. After traditional Hindu and Muslim ceremonies, the couple and their guests were all set to party the night away at the Hard Rock Riviera Maya. We were head over heels for the gold draping and abundance of luminous lighting created by Latin Asia. It was truly the perfect mix of elegant, chic, and modern. Please click play to watch the magical moments from this elegant fete!

Saieid and I went to Orlando, Florida for our good friends' wedding weekend. We decided to extend our stay and make a little mini vacation out of our time away. I am a Disney fanatic, so there was no way we were going to Florida and not visiting Disney World. Beforehand Saieid planned out an itinerary including Universal Studios and Disney and I was so excited! We spent a fun filled day in Magic Kingdom and right before we left he insisted that we take some selfies next to Cinderella's castle. We took our selfies and out of nowhere Saieid got on one knee, I was so surprised, excited and speechless. It was indeed a "fairy tale " proposal in the most magical place in the world.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.

When people hear "destination wedding" they think oh it must be easy. Planning a traditional Indian wedding away from home was very hard but very doable. Hard Rock was very accommodating to everything I needed. But unlike most weddings planned away I had 3 ceremonies and a reception; so it required a lot of attention. I made sure to go through every single last detail several times and ended up traveling with 14 suitcases to make sure we had every element needed to perform a traditional Indian wedding.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?

Choosing my outfits were one of the hardest things I did in planning! I wanted to be different but its hard to be different when your following traditions. Finding a different red lengha and a different white dress was a challenge. For my reception dress, I just couldn't decide whether to get a fitted dress or a princess dress. I always imagined having a big poofy dress but I also loved the way a fitted dress looked. So i got both! The dress I wore was by YSA Makino and came fitted with a princess overlay skirt. So I got the best of both worlds.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?

For many of my guests this was the first time they were attending a destination wedding so they didn't know what to expect. I tried my best to keep the entire wedding traditional even though it was away from home. We had 160 + guest attend our wedding and they were all so thrilled with the experience. I think people loved the fact that they were on a vacation and attending a wedding at the same time. Everyone was so relaxed, didn't have to worry about driving anywhere, cooking or cleaning. Just came to entirely unwind and attend a wedding.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?

Prior brides used to tell me all the time, enjoy planning because when it's done you're going to miss it. My advice to future brides to be is... enjoy planning because when its done you're going to miss it! While planning, I thought how in the world could you miss something this hard!? But the truth is it should be enjoyable and when it's all done all you have to look back on is memories and you also will never know what to do with all the extra time you'll have! Soak every moment in, focus on you and your fiance and making yourself happy. Don't stress too much about being " different." Indeed everyone has their own unique ways on doing things but it's extremely hard to be different when a standard traditional wedding asks of certain colors, themes and ideas. HAVE FUN!

Have a wonderful Valentine's Day Maharanis! Make sure to read up on our Platinum Guide Feature today, where we've highlighted a sensational 50th anniversary party!

Costa Mesa, CA Indian Wedding by Aaroneye Photography

The love between Vidhi and Mihir is one that just pops off our screen. From the words etched through this cinematic film right down to the treasured first look; these are the types of memories that we hold close to our heart. The bride donned two different shades for her wedding and reception; stark red for the ceremony and royal blue for the final extravaganza. The baraat ceremony took place outside of the Westin South Coast Plaza where hues of pastels reigned supreme. Deepti’s Floral Designs & Mandaps created a unique celebration setting that was true to the couple and their personality. One of my favorite elements of the reception party was the colorful, floral backdrop on the sweetheart stage. Deepti Chandani has yet to design a wedding event that we absolutely didn’t love. No Bollywood soiree would be complete without audio delight and Fusion Sounds rocked out the crowd as guests dined on delectable cuisine from RasrajSpecial thanks to the bride and groom's friends Janak Savaliya and Gautam Kacchadiya along with bride's brother Taral, for making the beautiful photo seating chart and wedding programs. After you view the video, get lost in our full gallery; both captured by Aaroneye Photography.

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?

Mihir & I first met summer of 2016 at Dallas airport. It started with a conversation between two strangers, while waiting for our bags to arrive. I am someone who can literally talk to anyone or anything and Mihir is more quiet and calm. I think at first he did not know what had hit him, gave me this look "who are you and why are you talking to me?" But this opinion quickly turned into an instant connection with a discussion over life events, medicine and a deep bond of friendship over the next couple of weeks.  Let's just ignore the part where he bored me with his immense knowledge of Medicare and MACRA. We had no idea at the time, that Dallas is where we will both be moving to in less than a year, to start our new life together. He also tried to convince me while we waited for our bags that Shreveport, Louisiana is a big city and I should have known where it is located.  Being a California girl, I really had no idea where his hometown was! What can we say except that it takes a long time to get your bags at Dallas airport and sometimes cupids arrow can strike when you least expect it.

For my Birthday last year, Mihir gave me a Sephora bag at midnight.  I expected it to be perfume but as I opened it, there was a carat solitaire ring.  Mind you, this was only 3-4 months since we met.  I very gently closed the box and returned it to him and said that it was too early.  He said with shaky hands, "its not a proposal, you will know when I am proposing. This is a promise ring and I want to give this to you as a promise of my commitment to you." It was the sweetest birthday gift and of course I accepted.

For the actual proposal, we flew to Dubai for our friends Tharwat & Irina's destination wedding.  Day after the wedding they had planned a Desert Safari/Arabic buffet & entertainment.  As we arrived at the Sunset Buffet, the newlyweds called out our names for photos.  When we went on the stage the photographer kept repositioning us for the photo and somehow Mihir was kneeling in front of me and Tharwat and Irina had stepped off.  So with a beautiful sunset and desert sand in the backdrop, Mihir proposed to me and I said "Yes!"

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.

Planning started with me being completely clueless about wedding planning. However pretty soon my Friend Kajal came to my rescue. She dragged me to South Asian Bridal Expo in Irvine. We were able to meet a whole bunch of vendors there and start getting an idea on the wedding budget. Since we only had four months to plan, finding a venue was the priority.  As luck would have it we knew Sheena, who is the wedding Cordinator at Westin South Coast plaza. She took amazing care of us with her honest advice and great pricing she was able to get us. Then it all started to fall into place and we were able to find all the vendors that were our top choice. Deepti treated us like family with doing our decorations and her prices are truly the best. I just gave her a very generic outline of what I wanted and my budget and let her use her own creativity and she did not disappoint! Oscar, did not just do my hair & makeup, but was also a very big part of our wedding day by being a friend and making me feel like the most beautiful bride in the world. Shilpa’s team kept things running smoothly all day and always with a smile on their faces. Preeti did absolutely beautiful Mehndi designs for my guests and I. Sandeep and Krishan from fusion sounds were such great pleasure to work with from beginning to end.  Helping us with our song selection as well as keeping the crowd dancing all night.  Aaroneye played such a big role in capturing all of our special moments.  We were also able to get gorgeous and yummy fresh fruit cake from Beverly’s bakery in Yorba Linda for a great price. Last but not the least, our friends and family are still raving about the food from Rasraj. We truly feel we were blessed with all our vendors.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?

I really wanted Red for my bridal outfit and after visiting multiple stores in India and not liking anything, opted for custom order. For my reception got a peach gown however it got rejected by all my friends as they were worried it might get washed out in evening lights. Luckily my Mom was still in India and was able to find a perfect navy and gold lengha for me.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?

The best part of our wedding for both Mihir and I, was having all our favorite people there with us and everyone having a great time celebrating our union.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?

For sure the dancing and food!! We did not have an empty dance floor all evening.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?

For me the best memory was seeing the happiness on Mihir’s and all our friend’s/family’s faces throughout the day.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.

We had our Mehndi at my brother’s place. My brother (Taral)/ bhabhi (Ruchita) along with rest of my family, worked tirelessly in making this event happen. They not only did all the decorations but also the lighting and music setup. We also can’t thank, my cousin Palak, enough for taking amazing photos for our prewedding shoot as well as my Mehndi.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?

Wedding planning is a lot of work and can get very stressful at times.  My advice to future brides would be to try an enjoy this time because it will be over before you know it. Remember if something goes wrong during wedding day most likely no one else will even notice. So try to relax and enjoy this truly memorable time.

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)

My parents gave me a gorgeous long gold necklace set and Mihirs family gave me gold choker set. Together they both made up my bridal jewelry for the wedding.  For my reception I wore big earrings with my new Mangal Sutra.

Have a fab Friday Maharanis!

Charlottesville, VA Wedding by Whiddon Productions

Welcome back, Maharanis! Today we want to shine light on Swathi & Sumit’s wedding video, thoughtfully documented by cinematographer Whiddon Productions. They did a marvelous job zooming in on what truly matters on any wedding day: love! Our groom mastered riding a beautiful, white horse at the baraat, dressed in red and glittery gold, and delivered by Harmons Carriages. Another fine detail is the multi-colored umbrellas, which guests were using to shade for the beaming sun. The wedding guests were a mix of nationalities and everyone seemed to enjoy participating in the Indian wedding rituals. The ceremony was romantically taking place on a scenic field centered around a divine mandap! If you are searching for inspiration, take a good look at this love boat. Bride Swathi looked like a dream wearing a classic red and gold lehenga. Detailed henna tattoos covering her hands, white flowers decorating her dark hair, and a beautiful golden ear-piece stood out as elegant and unique symbols of beauty. We know how important hair and makeup are to any bride and The Spot Beauty Shop could take pride in creating a picturesque and stunning look. For the reception, our bride changed into a bright pink lehenga coated with tiny mirrors. If your groom is watching the video with you, he should also pay extra attention to the stylish groom! The reception as well as the ceremony were held at King Family Vineyards and after viewing the video, we definitely feel like paying them a visit! Thumbs up to wedding planner Colleen Miller Events who organized a masterpiece of a wedding. Floral and decor was professionally created by M Henry Design, the garlands were made by Vivek Flowers, and lighting setup by Blue Ridge Lighting. Food was catered by Bollywood Bistro and Dynasty AV & Entertainment took care of the audio atmosphere. The unique rented items were retrieved from Paisley & Jade and Liz Decorations and linens were delivered by MS Events. A & A Limo made sure transportation was on point and Tom Daly Photography was hired to capture the wedding photos. Now, please enjoy the wedding video of the loving couple created by Whiddon Productions. We are pretty sure you will love it as much as we do!

Did you notice the tiny, adorable dog wearing a blue dress?
