New Rochelle, NY Indian Fusion Wedding by Joseph Minasi Weddings

Happy Wednesday, Maharanis! Today we're sharing a magnificent Indian fusion wedding planned by the amazing team at Bridal Arts and Events! This spectacular shaadi was held at the beautiful Glen Island Harbor Club, and featured ultra dazzling decor by Elegant Affairs Inc. and the most delicious food from Moghul Caterers! Our lovely Indian bride Nameeta was radiant in all her wedding outfits, and hair and makeup from SV Bridal Concepts by Sanjana Vaswani were the final touches that made her look unbelievably gorgeous! Joseph Minasi Weddings captured all the most tender moments from this incredible wedding in their wonderful highlight film below (we especially loved the Maharani's sister's speech at 3:22!), so check it out and enjoy every heartwarming moment!

Maharani Nameeta on meeting her Raja:

"It all started back in late summer of 2012 when my friend Nicole asked me if I wanted to join an annual wine tour she organizes with her then boyfriend (now husband!) Nemo. Although I was initially hesitant, I said yes once I got my friend Rachel to join me.

The morning of the grand event, September 15th – a day I will never forget, I left my apartment to help Nicole put all of the food items and champagne bottles from Nemo’s Stuytown pad into the coach bus they had hired. That was my first time meeting Nemo. After everything was successfully loaded, I hopped onto the bus, excited to see Long Island wine country for the first time.

Since everyone had pretty much separated into groups of 'Nicole’s friends' and 'Nemo’s friends' in the front and back of the bus respectively, I spent the entire ride going to Long Island getting to know the former group. I actually didn’t even see or talk to Chris until the 3rd winery at Baiting Hollow (also a horse rescue farm) where we briefly spoke for only a few minutes until I got distracted by a tour to visit the stables.

It was really only on our way back to the city that the real action happened. I was looking out my window while we were on the Long Island Expressway in the right lane and saw a car that was in the middle lane trying to cross over to catch an exit. The guy must have been a pretty bad driver because instead, he rammed right into the side of our bus. Although luckily nobody got hurt, we had to pull over and wait for the police to come.

In the approximately 1.5 hours that we were waiting, everyone stood up and started chatting. That's when Chris came up to me to start a conversation. I honestly had no idea he liked me but he seemed to be a fellow foodie (now I know that couldn't be further from the truth!) so we exchanged numbers so we could meet up to try out an ice cream place together.

The poor guy tried for 4 weeks after to get me to commit to a date to get the aforementioned ice cream, but because of my busy work schedule, I kept postponing. But persistence pays off! Chris texted me every day and one day he mentioned he was going to be running a race pretty soon. I wished him good luck and he said 'Thanks! I'll run the last quarter mile for you!' A light bulb finally went off and I determined that it would definitely be worth it to make some time for a date. The rest as they say is history."

On the romantic proposal:

"We got engaged in Paris in December 2014. Chris asked me to marry him on the Pont des Arts, also known as the Love Lock Bridge. He led me there, got down on one knee, and held out a lock with our initials on it that had a diamond ring locked onto it. With his other hand he presented me with a key and asked if I would unlock our future together. I was so nervous, I dropped the key and it landed between the two wooden slats, about to drop into the river below! Luckily, Chris was able to gingerly pick it up and unlock the ring to put on my finger after I happily accepted his proposal!"

On her bridal outfits:

"I wore three different dresses during my wedding weekend - one for the sangeet, one for the ceremony, and one for the reception. Because I knew I wanted all three to be very different, I got them all custom made in Mumbai, India specifically at the Aishwarya Design Studio and Panihari stores in Vile Parle. For my sangeet, I wanted a very vibrant, fun color so I went with a mint green anarkali with antique gold embroidery. For the ceremony, my decor was based on a regal 'temple' setting that I wanted to match but also incorporate a bit of modernity and lightness, so I chose to wear a bright red-orange lehenga instead of pure dark red. For the reception, I wanted to add an element of fusion since this was a mixed wedding so for this event I chose a pink and navy blue fusion gown that had a Indo-western jacket style top with a net overlay bottom layered on top of a full skirt."

On the most magical moments of the wedding:

"There are two moments that really stand out for me. One, I had commissioned for Chris a special groom's cake that looked exactly like a Bloomberg terminal since he is a complete finance geek. I even personalized the screens to reflect actual Bloomberg stock price charts he had made for me and had fondant post-its written with special messages. After we cut our wedding cake, the DJ announced that there was something else. When they rolled the groom's cake out, the look on Chris's face was priceless. He loved it and that made it totally worth it.

The second moment was during our ceremony when we played a game where you have to find a ring in a pot of rosewater. The priest announced that whoever found the ring would be the dominant person of the household and then asked all the guests who they thought would win. Everyone started chanting 'Nameeta! Nameeta!' and I felt so much amazing energy in the room. And of course 5 minutes later I triumphantly held up the ring I found first."

On the special details:

"We both love elephants so we had an elephant theme incorporated into various parts of our wedding. For example, our cake toppers were gold elephants whose trunks formed a heart, our invitations had a gold elephant border, we had two gold elephants at the front of the aisle leading to the mandap, and Indian elephant place card holders."

We hope you enjoyed this stunning shaadi as much as we did, Maharanis! Have a fantastic day! We'll be back with another sublime wedding tomorrow!

Chantilly, VA Indian Wedding by Photographick Studios

Happy Thursday, Maharanis! You might've heard of today's fabulous Indian bride before -- Maharani Kamana is a lifestyle and fashion blogger! Her ultra glamorous Indian wedding was held at the marvelous Westfields Marriott Washington Dulles, and was filled with gorgeous fashion (including a coral  bridal lengha by Sabyasachi, 1:10!) and magnificent decor from L'Ambiance (1:22)! Of course, the blushing bride herself was also radiant, with hair, makeup and mehndi all done by the super talented team at Bridal Elegance by Suman Khosla! All her shaadi looks were dazzling, but we especially adored her ceremony look (1:53)! Photographick Studios beautifully captured all the most magical moments of this spectacular event, so witness everything for yourselves below!

Maharani Kamana on meeting her Raja and how she knew he was "the one":

"We met online during the end of December. When Shivanth first came to visit me in DC, the first thing I noticed was his smile. We met for brunch and ended up spending the day together, talking, laughing, getting to know each other. He was sweet, funny, and we ended up on a 10 hour long first date. Even though that winter was really cold, the weekend he came the weather was amazing we were able to walk around and explore the city. That’s the thing with us - everything always works out and feels so much better when we are together."

On the romantic proposal:

"After dating for eight months and meeting each other's family, we were ready to take the next step. I had planned a trip to visit Shiv (my fiancé) in SF, but was not expecting anything out of the ordinary. Shiv mentioned that he had an awards breakfast for work on Sunday. Thankfully, (since he knows me so well) Shiv mentioned that we would be taking pictures. After searching for a week, I found a pretty white shift dress on sale at Anthropology the day before my flight.

On Sunday morning, we drove to the idyllic Chateau St. Jean, nestled in the heart of Sonoma Valley. As we approached the estate, I saw an enchanting castle with vineyards, lush gardens and ivy-covered arches all around. Smelling the scent of vines, grapes and roses entwined with the morning dew, I marveled at how the scenery complimented the crisp summer morning. As we turned into the parking lot, I noticed there weren't many cars. Where is everyone? I wondered. I followed Shiv into the Chateau's secret garden. As I entered, I heard my favorite Atif Aslam song playing (the live acoustic version of 'Pehli Nazar Mein'). Walking in, I saw pink and white rose petals scattered on the walkway - leading to a cozy little couch. Above the couch were roses hanging from two trees with handwritten notes on heart-shaped cards. A monogram with our initials was etched on each mint and coral colored heart (my favorite colors). Inside each card was a message about why he loves me. Reading the cards, I was so touched by the elegance and beauty of each detail he had thought of. Then Shiv went down on one knee....

And he proposed with the most stunning ring I have ever seen. There were so many emotions and feelings of happiness wrapped in that moment. After the proposal, we called our parents to celebrate! We then took photos with our amazing photographer, Melissa, from Weddings by Sunnyside. We had the estate to ourselves since Shiv rented it out for the morning to keep the experience more intimate. Next we went for a reserve wine tasting in the Chateau's private outdoor lounge and enjoyed the estate's award-winning chardonnay. Ending the best afternoon of my life, we had brunch at Napa's historic Auberge du Soleil restaurant. We dined on the patio overlooking the gorgeous vineyards and enjoyed sparkling wine with our favorite dishes, including my favorite - chocolate mousse topped with triple crown blackberries, white velvet cake and pistachio dentelle - so delish!"

On her wedding style:

"Every girl has vision for their wedding day and I knew I wanted mine to be elegant, traditional and fun! When picturing my wedding, I always knew I wanted an outdoor ceremony. We selected the Westfields Marriott for its beautiful terrace and colonial look and feel. While we knew there could be a chance of rain, we decided to hope for the best. In wedding planning and in life, I’ve learned that not everything happens exactly how you wish. You have to trust that whatever happens, happens for the best - including rain on the morning of our wedding. Thankfully our friends and family were amazing and still danced in our baraat (a groom's outdoor wedding procession)! Our wedding planner Sagina saved the day by making sure our wedding ceremony was still as beautiful as we envisioned."

On her favorite part of planning:

"Personal touches. We wanted our ceremony to be a reflection of our love for each other, our family, and loved ones. Shiv and I are both very close to our grandparents. We added century old photos of our grandparents on their wedding day to our entrance and felt their blessings with us."

On choosing her bridal lengha:

"Coral is my favorite color and of course my wedding outfit had to be coral! I love how the color paired so well with our mint and gold decor and custom mint colored saris for my bridesmaids."

On the most magical parts of the weddings:

"While Indian weddings ceremonies run longer than most (over an hour!), we wanted our guests to have fun. The baraat - accompanied by a horse, DJ and dhol player, set the tone for a festive mood. The bride’s side wanted to make sure we had our own fun with 'jutti chupai,' a tradition where the bride’s sisters and bridesmaids stealthily take away and hide the shoes of the bridegroom. Our 'jutti chupai' lasted over a half hour with intense negotiations from the groom's side on how to get the shoes back!"

On the sangeet:

"Of all our wedding events, our sangeet was our favorite. From the start, we set the tone that our wedding should be fun, memorable and a reflection of us as a couple. Most important, we wanted our guests to feel taken care of. Our Sangeet catering, décor and set up was all done by Silk Restaurant & Banquet Services. Sanjeev, the owner of Silk, and his team worked tirelessly with us to understand our vision and create a one-of-a-kind experience. From spending hours going through my Pinterest boards to coming up with his own ideas, Sanjeev and I worked together to design the stage, color schemes, and décor, along with the menu (which our guests still rave about!)."

On the reception:

"Our intention for our reception was simple: have a blast! Let’s be honest, wedding planning can be stressful. Our reception was the perfect way to enjoy all the months of planning and spend time with our family and friends. We kept the program (speeches, performances, etc.) to a minimum and let our dance floor be the focus! With a laid back vibe, our reception was full of fun and one big party!"

Have an amazing day, Maharanis! We'll be back with another delightful wedding tomorrow!

Maharani Simran, on meeting the Raja of her dreams, Prabhdeep:

"Prabhdeep and I met in the summer of 2011 and it was an immediate connection. We had actually met as kids 10 years ago in India and I never knew I would see him again. He lived in Toronto, Canada when I met him and I was from LA. After that summer, our long distance relationship of 3 years began. It went from facebook messages to Skype calls to meeting every 2-3 months at different locations through North America. It was the time when he visited me in LA and bonded instantly with my family making me realize that he is "the one"."

On her Raja's proposal:

"I always wanted to have a cute proposal but he never believed in proposals. Therefore, when he actually did, it came as a total surprise. The setting was perfect, we met in New York for Valentine's Day. It was freezing cold and he suddenly decided to visit Central Park. As we were strolling through the park, he took me to this romantic aisle where he got down on one knee and proposed. It was the cutest gesture ever. The best part was that he had taken my mother's approval before the proposal."

On her wedding style:

"I kept my wedding style very traditional. Right from jewelry to my bridal lengha to the décor, I wanted to keep everything very authentic. I focused on bright colors such as orange and pink to enhance our culture and traditions. Getting an orange lengha was very hard since its not the most popular color in lenghas. Hence, it took a lot of research to find that one lengha that would fit my traditional style. Also, I was lucky to have some amazing decorators who were able to match the wedding style I was going for. My mother and sister played a key role in deciding my jewelry and outfits. They helped me create the perfect Maharani."

On what she enjoyed most about planning her dream wedding:

"The most enjoyable part of planning this dream Indian wedding was the research that involved meeting new people. I would spend hours looking at pictures and work of different vendors on the Maharani Weddings website and admiring how rich our culture is. This process taught me a lot about different cultures and ethnicities and how grand our weddings are. It inspired me to portray our rich culture and traditions through our dream wedding. I also met some amazing vendors through this process, who work really hard in this profession and help create some amazing weddings. Also, the fact that my temple, Antelope Valley Sikh Center, was hosting only its second wedding gave me the freedom to decorate in accordance to my wedding theme."

On working with MUA, Nida Gazi:

"The moment I saw Nida Gazi's work on Instagram, I knew that she would be the person to get me the ideal look for my wedding. I had this Punjabi bridal look in mind with my jewelry and make up. Nida did complete justice to the look I wanted to create. From the setting of the jhumar to tikka setting to my dupatta, she created the perfect maharani look I was going for."

Have a splendid weekend my dears!
