We’re thrilled to share Dipti and Rikin’s jubilant reception gala in sunny Cancun! We’re swooning over the breezy ceremony setup at the Grand Oasis Cancun Resort by the design aficionados from Dipti Munshi and Latin Asia Destination Wedding Decor. We so wish we’d gotten an invite to this lux, beachy gala. We’re obsessing over the red and orange parasols and red mandap dotting the white beach side ceremony space. The sweet and emotional ceremony featured sunny skies, splashing waves, and the most delightful Indian bridal fashions. So gorg! After the lovebirds were pronounced husband and wife, everyone was raring to get the bangin’ reception party started! Guests chowed down on tropical bites and creamy desserts by Taste of India Cancun as a majestic sunset drenched the evening. While planning an international getaway can be daunting, Dipti Munshi and Oweddings helped the couple every step of the way for this sensational bash. As darkness fell, DJ Omar Figueroa Bautista played the latest and greatest Bollywood hits and set the dance floor on fire! The grand finale included dazzling sparklers that were the perfect symbol of Dipti and Rikin’s fiery and beautiful love story. Hurry over to watch this wedding clip by WeddingNama to catch all the loving moments between this gorg duo at their tropical paradise wedding! And scroll below for all the inside scoop by the bride herself.

Welcome Party / Game Night:

Our wedding weekend kicked off with an informal “bienvenidos fiesta” or welcome party. This event took place on a terrace garden surrounded by a beautiful coy fish pond. Since most of our guests had just arrived that day, we wanted to give everyone a chance to meet and greet. That evening, we handed out personalized welcome bags. It consisted of a welcome packet - a thank you message, itinerary for the weekend, map of the resort highlighted with where the events are going to take place, and helpful spanish phrases. It also had a few essential items, a handy hangover kit, and customized ladkewale/ladkiwale tshirts. We asked all our guests to wear these t-shirts to the game night which took place later that night to represent their respective side. This was the perfect icebreaker between both sides as everyone got super competitive and super comfortable with each other. Obviously, the ladkiwale team won by a landslide.

Haldi / Pool Party:

The haldi was a cute little informal ceremony held on the infinity deck with a breathtaking view of the beach. We asked our guests to be dressed in yellow which made for incredibly vibrant pictures. After the haldi, all the aunties and uncles stripped down to their bathing suits and jumped in the pool and we all spent the afternoon getting wild at the pool party.

Sangeet:

The sangeet was held poolside and was Bollywood themed. It had a laid back set up with white lounge furniture but very pop-art, colorful, and kitsch décor. We included the poolside cabanas as part of the seating arrangement so our guests could laze whilst watching the performances. The décor included vibrant pillows, kites, pinwheels, Chinese lanterns, neon parrots that Rikin and I spent countless hours cutting and gluing together (he still hates me for that). We lit up the surrounding palm trees with bright and multicolored up-lights and fairy lights. The highlight was the Bollywood photobooth backdrop that we created ourselves. Our guests really enjoyed posing in front of the unique backdrop with fun props that included lots of Bollywood dialogues. On one of our first dates, we watched the Bollywood movie Andaaz Apna Apna and since then it’s been a staple in our relationship. We pretty much watch the movie every month and frequently talk to each other in dialogues from the movie. Because of our obsession with the movie, we knew it had to be a part of our wedding. We created props with dialogues from the movie and used them as fun centerpieces and photobooth props as well. “Gogo ji, aapka ghagra” was my favorite! The evening comprised of jaw-dropping surprise performances by our guests. More than half of the guests that attended, put up a choreographed performance. Instead of doing speeches, our friends and cousins gave a “roast” of the bride and groom, sharing hilarious mishaps and jokes about us. My sister and bridesmaids put together an amazing skit about the couple that was made solely from Bollywood dialogues that had all the guests in splits. The performances were followed by countless tequila shots and an open dance floor. Our playlist that night was all bollywood with mostly our favorite 90s dhinchak music.

Wedding:

As the 1.2km of Cancun’s ocean and white sand beach have a magnificent beauty of its own, it was important for us to keep the wedding décor simple yet elegant. Our color theme was pink, peach and red with white flowers which looked striking against the turquoise water in the background. We knew it was going to be a hot day so we had to think of creative ways to keep our guests cool. We gave everyone bright parasol umbrellas that matched our color scheme. In addition to providing kulfis, ice slushies, and coconut water, we also gave personal fans that attached to your phone - these were quite a hit.

The groom entered in style on a jet ski and then danced down the beach with his baraat. The bridesmaids and groomsmen entered the mandap to a choreographed performance of “abhi toh party shuru hui hai”. We had a hindu wedding ceremony which was perfectly condensed to under an hour.

Reception:

Our reception was on the beach as well. There was a storm coming that night so the calm before the storm brought by an incredible breeze and you could tell the weather gods were smiling down on us. Our decor was an all white dream. Our goal was the create a classy and romantic setting. We choose white tiffany chairs, white chair sashes, white linens, white backdrop, white victorian sweetheart sofa, white bird cages, and white flowers with some peach and blush pink accents. We lit up the place with hundreds of candles and had multiple ornate free standing chandeliers marking the isle and surrounding the periphery of the venue. Our table placement cards were very unique. The evening started on a fun note as we put all our guests pictures with their table numbers in a tequila shot so they had to ‘take a shot, and take a seat’.

Words from the Bride:

Right after Rikin and I danced down the aisle as we entered the reception, my dad came up to us, gave us a hug and said “Look at what you have created, it’s incredible”. I couldn’t help hold back my tears. Seeing how beautiful the reception looked and how our years worth of hard work had culminated to this one, perfect night, was the highlight of the whole weekend.

Our first dance was choreographed by one of our best friends. It was quite a production as she had the task to teach us how to dance with our two left feet! We started with a waltz to “Aaj jaane ki zid na karo” which is easily my all time favorite song and paired it perfectly with fireworks. It went on to “Rukmini Rukmini” at the groom’s insistence which was rather scandalous but hilarious. We ended it with the Friends theme song “I’ll be there for you”, which is a daily staple in our life. This was followed by very emotional speeches by our parents, sisters and best friends that brought both of us to tears. After that each and every one of our guest got up and performed in a surprise flash mob to “Tujhko banakar ke le jayenge, badri ki dulhaniya” which was so amazing! Right towards the end of the night, we had a few minutes of rain which was such a blessing. The music stopped for a few minutes and all the guests embraced the drizzle and continued to sing in tandem and danced along till the music restarted. After the reception was over, everyone migrated to the nightclub in the resort and continued the party till five in the morning. After a while the night club DJ and the local crowd embraced our craziness and started playing Bollywood music. It was simply incredible - from what the two sober people remember since everyone else was entirely wasted.

Have a wonderful Thursday Maharanis!

Bermuda Indian Engagement by R5 Vibe

If you’re an Indian Bride seeking dreamy ideas for your engagement shoot, look no further than this spectacular destination engagement film by R5 Vibe. After Harveer popped the question to Maharani Sukhraaj, they jetted off to sunny Bermuda to soak in the monumental occasion before the wedding craziness set in. Basking in the beauty of the golden sands, cascades of ocean and glow of bright sunshine was the most magical way for Sukhraaj and Harveer to relish their upcoming journey as husband and wife. We were thrilled by all the decadent locales and fashions in this video, and have been living vicariously through Sukhraaj and Harveer’s tropical adventures by playing the clip on repeat. We can’t wait to witness this dynamic duo’s wedding film. They were married in Ontario, Canada, and with an engagement this sensational, we cannot imagine how jaw dropping the wedding must have been! For a sneak peek, scroll below to read a description of the darling duo’s wedding weekend featuring vibrant decor by Xclusive Designs and Dream Party Decor and photography by Z Molu Photography. We can’t wait! In the meantime, let your stresses wash away while witnessing Sukhraaj and Harveer’s glorious engagement film.

Description of Sukhraaj & Harveer’s Wedding Weekend

The bride, Sukhraaj, had envisioned a fairytale wedding ever since she could remember. She was ecstatic to begin planning her special day two years ago, after the love of her life went down on one knee asking for her hand in marriage. To get the ball rolling, she consulted a graphic designer to help her create a wedding card that would truly stand out. The wedding card beautifully illustrated well thought out themes for each of her events leading up to her reception.

The first event, the Mehendi, took place with her beautiful backyard of a large forest, serving as a backdrop for her “Enchanted Forest” theme. The bride-to-be sat on jhoola while getting mehendi done and enjoying beautiful Bollywood music with friends and family.

The second event, the Sangeet, took place at a local park. The outdoor touch coupled with a horse and carriage entrance painted a truly magical picture. The Sangeet saw an explosion of colours and dancing that saw an escalating party atmosphere in anticipation of the weekend.

The final pre-event was the Maiyaan and Choora. The Maiyaan was a chance to laugh and let loose before tomorrow’s wedding ceremony. The event was capped off with a friendly water fight among the cousins and the bride.

On the day of Canada’s 150th year anniversary, Sukhraaj and Harveer would be united under the one true God at the Golden Triangle Sikh Association in Peterborough, Ontario. The snacks and lunch were served outdoor in a tent, on the beautiful sunny day. The ceremony itself was indoors with the floor layered in all white to help the glowing cherry blossoms truly stand out, adding a delicate touch. The event was capped off with treats for all the guests, courtesy of an ice cream truck playing its characteristic melody.

The week of festivities was down to the last day, the reception, which took place at Apollo Convention Centre. This night featured a “Twilight Romance” theme elegantly portrayed by the castle backdrop, featuring balconies with cascading greenery. The bride ventured away from the traditional Indian attire, and wore a beautiful flowy gown truly reflective of a princess. Guests entered the hall and were served cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, fresh sushi and enjoyed contemporary jazz music.

The party was kickstarted by the couple’s entrance, followed by a truly memorable choreographed first dance. The bride also joined the girls performance as the first of many surprises. Once the dance floor opened, the electricity could be felt all night. The second surprise saw beloved Disney characters accompany the bride and groom, and dhol players on stage to amp up the crowd. The couple also sprayed the crowd with CO2 gas before joining the DJ on the turntables. The atmosphere even had the police on duty dancing. “Best Party Ever” was among the most common sentiment mentioned that night!

Simply gorgeous! We'll be back on Monday with another fabulous wedding!

Newport Beach, CA Indian Wedding by Aaroneye Photography

This sunny Newport Beach wedding of Payal and Amam was jam-packed with action, captured in an incredible film by Aaroneye Photography. Pre-wedding celebrations included a talent-filled sangeet, with the highlight being Payal dancing gracefully for her adoring future hubby! The Marigold Company helmed the planning and design duties, and seamlessly executed the numerous events. The ceremony day began with a bang, featuring a little token from the Dark Knight himself, as Amam led his baraat in a Batmobile. The photos by Greycard Photography of the groom in his larger-than-life mode of transportation made for some classic portraits! Amam couldn’t have made a cooler entrance, and the baraat music by 3D Sounds pumped excitement into the crowd, which only heightened as the ceremony began. The pristine grounds of the Newport Beach Marriott were dotted with palm trees, and the cerulean and white drapings on the elegant mandap swayed gently in the ocean breeze. The beautiful bride was primped and polished to perfection with hair and makeup by Dolled Up by Lulu and a vibrant red and cream lehenga. The natural light outside lit the bride and groom perfectly, and the traditional ceremony was meaningful and went off without a hitch! Afterwards, the quick-on-their-feet newlyweds couldn’t wait to get the party started! Payal and Amam’s reception was pure elegance, featuring a gilded wall of flickering candles and pink-hued florals designed by Kumba Entertainment. Guests were on their feet the entire event, cheering on all the incredible performances! When 3D Sounds hit the DJ booth, the party leveled up even more, with guests dancing to their hearts’ delight and taking breaks to take silly pics in the photo booth by A Little Scene! Check out the video below for all the action!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?

The first time Viral and I met was at a mutual friend's engagement. Although we did not keep in touch then, we happened to see each other again while on a family trip to Charleston, SC and stayed in touch after. We talked for several months and finally met up for an "official" date while I was in South Carolina for work. Viral is a genuinely sweet guy and after seeing him interact with my family and friends I knew I could see him as my husband.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.

Although I initially had a vision for what I wanted the wedding to be in terms of style and themes, I quickly realized I would need a ton of help putting all my ideas together due to the size of our wedding. Our wedding was truly a labor of love. My parents and siblings were paramount in helping me come up with unique ideas and the rest of my family and friends were there to help execution process. A family member had worked with KI Weddings and I was able to see first hand how helpful it was to have a planning company to help everything come together seamlessly. All of our vendors were incredible to work with and made my dream wedding a reality.

I wanted my family to all compliment each other and match. For the men I made sure that their outfits went well with the ladies in my family which also matched mine. For example, for the satak we all wore green, and it turned out really nice, and we got a lot of compliments about it.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?

I was lucky enough to be able to go to India twice last year in order to shop for the wedding. Unfortunately, I did not have any luck finding my "dream" lengha at any shop with ready made clothing. My cousin recommended a design studio that she had used for her own wedding and I decided to give it a shot. It worked out perfectly because I was able to choose the fabric, color, pattern and dupatta to my exact specifications.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?

I loved planning the details the most. Our Welcome Party was a Bollywood theme so I had old Bollywood movie posters personalized to have our families' faces printed on them and the Groom's table had a custom Bollywood movie printed tablecloth along with bottles of Thumbs Up, Limca and fresh sugarcane juice. For our Reception, we had an aerialist performing during cocktail hour and we had someone to do caricatures of our guests. It was so much fun to come up with these particulars and watching them come to life on the day of.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.

I have done a lot of Bollywood dances growing up, and one in particular that I did at a competition saath samundar. I still have the outfit I wore and my niece actually wore that outfit and did the exact same dance as me. The thing that made it even more special was the actual dance I performed was playing in the screen behind her.

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)

For the ceremony, I knew I always wanted to use a blush pink color scheme. Pink was my late maternal grandmother's favorite color(her name was also Gulab!). I also wore some of her jewelry on the wedding day and incorporated photos of her and my paternal grandparents into my bouquet. It was so important to me to be able to honor them and include them in one of the biggest days of my life.

What a lovely Bollywood affair! We featured this wedding in November in all of its glory, you can check out editorial piece right here with images captured by CB Art Photography and Cinematography! See you tomorrow lovebirds!

Charlotte, NC Indian Wedding by Afterglow Creative

If you're anything like us, you're still dreaming about Rajneet and Romil's marvellous Indian wedding from the Platinum Vendor blog last week (if you missed it, catch up on Vesic Photography's incredible photos here); today we're bringing it back in a glorious wedding film by Afterglow Creative! Planned by Elegant Events, the fantastic ceremony and reception were held at The Westin Charlotte, where New Creations added stunning florals to the venue (4:00, 4:56)! Maharani Rajneet was also dazzling at every event, thanks to hair and makeup by MADE by pammy & gurveen (1:36) and fabulous outfits from Made In India and Well Groomed! With food from Bombay Grille and desserts from Wow Factor Cakes to round out the night, this shaadi was one hundred percent unforgettable! See every breathtaking moment in the video below!

Maharani Rajneet on her favorite part of planning:

"The most enjoyable process of planning my dream wedding was working with Eric Weiner at The Westin. He was an absolutely incredible wedding coordinator and I would have been lost without his guidance, support, and friendship!"

On choosing her wedding outfits:

"Shopping for my wedding outfits was a bit challenging. Time constraints prevented me from being able to plan a long shopping trip in India, so in the end I turned to my make-up and hair artists for advice (Made by Pammy and Gurveen). I was able to find all of my wedding outfits in Surrey (Made in India and Well Groomed), and purchased all of my beautiful jewelry through Evocature (based in California)."

On their first dance:

"Our first dance was to a song by my husband's favorite band, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, 'Hard to Concentrate.' Anthony Kiedis wrote the song for his bassist to use as a wedding proposal. The lyrics are so beautiful and meaningful, and it moved me that the person who suggested this song in the first place was Romil (my husband). Suffice to say, it was the first and easiest decision we made in the wedding planning process!"

On her hair and makeup:

"I felt clueless when it came to hair and make-up. Cue the most talented and down-to-earth bridal team, Made by Pammy and Gurveen! They were SO helpful in the year leading up to the wedding. I'm sure I annoyed them with texts more than I would like to admit, but their responses were always prompt and reassuring. We never met in person until the night of my sangeet, but they blew me away with their vision and talent! It also helped that both Pammy and Gurveen are so sweet and funny, it made getting ready with them one of the most memorable and enjoyable parts of my wedding weekend!"

On the vendors who made her day extra special:

"We had THE most incredible wedding cake and dessert table by The Wow Factor Cakes in Charlotte, NC. I also want to recognize our amazing photographer, Hooman Bahrani of Vesic Photography. His photos are a work of art!"

Join us tomorrow to see another magical wedding film!
