Flagstaff, AZ Engagement Film by Sameer Soorma Studios

Dear Maharanis, we have such a special treat for you today! We just had to feature Sheena and Tom's candy-coated engagement film because we think it's such great inspiration for all you newly engaged couples! Ever the innovative photojournalists, Sameer Soorma Studios put together a captivating storyline, cinematic transitions and locales seemingly straight out of Pleasantville for lovebirds Sheena and Tom to celebrate their engagement. Sheena and Tom, both lawyers from Phoenix, TX, are nature, candy, and biking aficionados and love to visit Flagstaff, AZ. Thus, a concept was born featuring a candy store heist, sweeping views of poppy fields, and romantic bicycling through the adorable streets of Flagstaff! It is such a beautiful showcase of their personalities and relationship, and we think this engagement film will be a very special keepsake for Sheena and Tom in the years to come! Since engagements are such precious, brief moments in time, we here at Maharani Weddings love the idea of E-films, and hope this gives all of you newly engaged couples ideas on how you'd like to celebrate your engagement!

Too adorable! Excuse us while we attempt to whip up some candy apples!

Austin, TX Indian Wedding by Epique Cinema

Hi Maharanis! Yesterday, we shared photographs by Joey T Photography of Nikita & Rohan's Texan wedding, and we're so pumped to share their wedding film by Epique Cinema today! This film takes us on such a wild ride, and could hold up to your favorite Bollywood flick, featuring a gorgeous couple, sparkling fashions, and colorful dance numbers. We were touched to find out that so many of Nikita and Rohan's family and friends flew in from all over the world, including 20 family members from India who had never been to the United States before! So sweet! Nikita and Rohan put together an all-star team to execute their wedding vision, including K.I. Weddings, who always come out in force for all wedding planning duties, and the visionaries at Prashe Decor, whose design concepts continue to astound us! The sangeet, ceremony, and reception events took place Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort & Spa, and featured delectable meals by Bombay Bistro, and non-stop music by DJ Prashant Poudyal. Nikita was decked out in hair and makeup by The Infinite Perfection and intricate henna by Nisha, and she glowed in every frame of this film! This couple and their family and friends are incredible dancers, and kept the party going past 1 am - Everyone looked like they were having a blast! Maharani Nikita fills us in on more details from her celebrations below, and you can also watch the video below to see more from these rocking festivities. And make sure to check out the full gallery to see more colorful moments!

Description of the Day from the Bride:

Our wedding week was AMAZING! I was kept happy and calm by my family, especially my younger sister and best maid of honor ever! We had friends and family fly in from Texas, Utah, Alabama, Florida, New Jersey, Washington, and about 20 family members who came all the way from India for the first time! Every event was carried out beautifully and my husband and I felt so much unconditional love. I was very nervous for our first look as my then fiancé and I were kept away from each other all day. As soon as I started walking up to him from behind, I immediately started tearing up at the relief of seeing him standing there. My husband always makes me feel so loved and secure, and seeing him made me feel that way just minutes before our wedding. We had so many friends and family give special performances and speeches during the wedding week. In particular, our wedding party of siblings, best friends, and roommates put on a wedding dance performance that highlighted our 6-year relationship. They practiced for weeks before the big finale and I still watch videos of the dance till today! I would go back and do the whole wedding week over again because of how special it was and what a great time we had planning it with our AMAZING vendors.

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?

I met my husband Rohan when we were both 19 years old at the University of Texas at Austin (hook 'em)! We happened to meet through a mutual friend and once we started to talk, found out that we were both Marathi. We spent some time together the summer of 2010 and by the time classes started, were officially dating. I knew Rohan was the one when he told his mom about me a few months into dating. Instead of feeling nervous at the possibility of meeting his parents, I felt excited for that next step in our relationship and what else was to come!

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!

Just shy of our 5 year anniversary, Rohan and I took a July 4th trip to Destin, Florida. He was living in New Orleans at the time so we drove the 3-4 hours to Destin. It was a beautiful day and we had so much fun at the beach. Rohan had made reservations at a beach restaurant but when we reached, he went in alone and told me that our table wouldn't be ready for another 10 minutes and we should take a walk on the beach. Looking back, it's funny that he even decided to propose to me, because I was so cranky and hungry and wanted to talk to the hostess myself - poor Rohan had to make so many excuses so I would just take the hint and walk on the beach with him! Rohan had a photographer waiting when he got down on one knee and we have the most amazing memories and pictures from that moment. I was so stunned at the moment that Rohan still reminds me till today that the first words out of my mouth after he proposed were "Are you serious or joking...is this really happening?" Haha!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?

Both our families are Marathi so I knew that my bridal sari would be a traditional silk Marathi one (turmeric yellow with green glass bangles). I knew this was also very important to my mother so we definitely connected over shopping for my sari and choosing colors/patterns. I wanted a color that would pop with the turmeric yellow color as well as match my bridesmaids beautiful skin tones, so I chose fuchsia. It looked beautiful on every girl as well as against the yellow of my sari!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?

When Rohan and I had our first look, I did not expect us to get emotional. The anticipation of being apart that whole morning all leading up to the wedding ceremony was making me so nervous. As I walked up to Rohan from behind, I started tearing up from relief that I could finally see him - he is the one who keeps me calm, cool and collected in all aspects of my life. Rohan also mentioned he was getting emotional seeing me decked up as a traditional bride. I think it's one of those memories that I did not anticipate, but smile when I think about every time.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.

For our sangeet, Rohan and I wanted pops of color wherever you looked! We wanted the traditional Sangeet décor with bright shades of fushia, orange, and pink. We also wanted there to be personalized touches so we had 2 specialty drinks made. A "Niki-rita" (strawberry margarita) and a "Hur-Ro-cane" (a classic rum drink famous in New Orleans as Rohan had lived there for the past 2 years). Since there was going to be indian food the following day for wedding and reception, we also wanted to showcase classic "Tex Mex" food for all our visiting friends and family. We had the Hyatt resort prepare classic Tex Mex dishes (chips/salsa/queso, shrimp fajitas, spinach enchiladas, plus deconstructed tres leches and churros with nutella sauce for dessert!) We had amazing performances from 10 of his mom's best friends, my childhood group from Round Rock, and his 20 (!) childhood friends...some who have never danced before! This event made us feel SO loved that people put in all the time to give us such great performances!

We loved hearing Nikita's behind-the-scenes stories! See you all tomorrow!

Kirkland, WA Indian Wedding by Aaron Horton Productions

Our wedding film today comes from the emerald state of Washington and was created by Aaron Horton Productions. The waterfront wedding locales at the Woodmark Hotel were a photographer's dream, and all stills were captured by Victor Zerga Photography. The natural surroundings were perfect for the couple's portraits, and the watercolor sky at sunset combined with the couple's vibrant ensembles and smiles made for some classic photographs. Maharani Vidya was decked out in mehndi by Eela, hair and makeup by Hanna Mazur, and her bridal fashions came all the way from India and London. Her traditional yet elegant ceremony sari was selected by her aunt in India, and her deep green and blue lehenga was a custom design from Charmi Creations in London. We thought her reception outfit was the perfect choice to match the vibrant blue water and sky that surrounded the festivities. Nalini's Flowers and Decor decorated the event elegantly, with gorgeous florals and draping that complemented the natural, chic surroundings perfectly, while Manette Gracie Events was in charge of the wedding planning and coordination. Adding to the fun was delicious food by Lakshmi, an enormous tiered cake by Decadence Custom Cakes, and incredible music by DJ Aanshul. It was many of Vidya & Kavi's guests' first time at an Indian wedding, and they were thrilled by the dancing, colors, and traditions swirling through the entire weekend. We're so happy to witness this lovely couple's wedding and please click play to watch more! Also, we talked to Maharani Vidya to get some inside scoop on the wedding celebrations, so you can read more from her below!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the One?"

We had an interesting first date - a few jokes and stories. We saw promise and scheduled a second date. That's when we knew we had something special. The rest is history!

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!

Kavi was sweet and traditional at the same time. I flew to Seattle to be with my family the day before Thanksgiving, and he joined us on Thanksgiving Day. He was talking to my Dad and asked his permission to marry me right in front of me! My whole family was so overjoyed to be part of such a special moment.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.

I had a lot of help with planning! Once the venue and date were set, the rest fell right into place. We wanted an elegant but relaxed feel. We couldn't have asked for a better location - waterfront and gorgeous. We decided on royal blue and gold for our reception. Once I chose my reception lehnga, my Mom and Nalini, our florist, chose the perfect table arrangements to complement it, complete with elephant centerpieces!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?

My wedding sari was selected in India by my aunt. It was classic and clean. I didn't have time to travel to India to choose my lehnga. After extensively searching online, I decided to have a bespoke lehnga made by Charmi Creations in London. The process was streamlined and the fit was flawless.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?

Kavi and I had a great time working on the invitations. The excitement of our engagement was still fresh and we had a ball looking at different samples. We also had a fun time putting our favors together. I'm a coffee girl and he's a tea guy, so we chose to combine those two into a simple and fragrant favor!

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?

The location! We got so many positive comments. So many of our friends had never attended a Hindu wedding, so the combination of its beauty and the beautiful venue made for a wonderful event!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?

There were so many special moments in our wedding! I think the most special moment was walking up to the Mandap and seeing my parents, family, and friends all around me and all smiles - it was an amazing feeling.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?

Enjoy the process! Details are fun and important, but they're not everything. Enjoying yourself, savoring the moment, and smiling is even more important.

So great to hear about Vidya's great experience! We'll see you all tomorrow!

Dear Maharanis, we have a sumptuous sneak peek wedding film for you today, coming from San Tan Valley, Arizona and created by the incredible talents at Sameer Soorma Studios. The ceremony took place at Encanterra Weddings, and the outdoor grounds of the venue created such a picturesque backdrop to showcase the lovely bride and groom and was the perfect place for them to experience their magical first look. Stunning Maharani Sarika was a knockout in her deep pink and white lehenga with perfectly done hair and makeup by Ahseia Adina. The clip of her running through the venue's stone halls with her lehenga billowing gracefully around her was breathtaking! Tru Elegance, LLC planned the wedding to perfection with floral and decor by Wendell Florist. We can't wait to see the photographs by the incredible Ushna Khan Photography for more inspiration from this lavish affair! Vancouver, Canada Wedding by Huqa Live/Films

Dear Maharanis, we loved the wedding film of Rabail and Qasim created by the artists at Huqa Live/Films. The beautiful bride and groom looked radiant throughout the festivities, and were constantly surrounded by their excited loved ones. Huqa Live/Films captured such moving speeches by the couple’s closest family and friends - It is obvious how adored and admired Rabail and Qasim are! We also must discuss Maharani Rabail’s glittering bridal fashions. Each ensemble was so gorgeous and impeccably designed - We were drooling over every look, especially her pale green gown and brick red lehenga, both of which were embroidered and beaded from head to toe! She truly looked like a vision throughout the celebrations! Events by Khadejah perfectly planned and designed the wedding, resulting in a lavish, romantic affair featuring so many sparkling lights, lush florals, and rich draping.
