From the Sangeet celebration hosted at the grand 2616 Commerce Event Center to the fabulous wedding reception attended at the marvelous Plano Ismaili Centre, we noticed the glamour and elegance that our Maharani delivered. She made the right choice by trusting the exceptional talent of Kashish By Hina, who took care of her beauty needs. How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Aamir and I met when I was in middle school and he was in high school! We started dating when I was 14 and he was 15. Little did we know that 13 years later we would be getting married. I think we knew that this was going to work for the long haul when we very quickly clicked. We went from being boyfriend/girlfriend to best friends and then to business partners. At that point, we knew that this relationship was going to be a love story for the books

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Every thanksgiving we vacation in Cancun with Aamir's family. This was the first thanksgiving that we were going to go along to Cancun. Naturally I knew something was up. We stayed at the Secrets the Vine in Cancun in the honeymoon suite. Aamir had been playing me since August and letting me book our trip when little did I know he knew which resort I would end up picking and from there he worked with the resort for a romantic beach proposal. It was the cutest and sweetest moment of my life! It was perfect! As we came around the corner to go down the steps to the beach you saw herds of people gathered around and I remember looking to Aamir and saying oh look someone is getting proposed too and then I remember doing a double take and being like OMG THATS MY NAME!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Honestly this was SO FUN FOR ME! Being a corporate event planner i was so excited to plan a more creative like event. My favorite part was planning all the little surprise and delight experiences and my least favorite part was deciding on my outfits. I LITERALLY could not make a decision cause the pressure was so high.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I knew for my indian lengha I wanted a traditional red lengha. I have always dreamed of being a traditional bride in a bright red lengha. As I got older my dream started getting mixed in with an american style reception. With that being said we ended up doing a combo to make both dreams come true. A red lengha for the sangeet and a white lace wedding dress for the reception

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Honestly it was when we were able to get our families together to do DIY projects, dance practices and wedding planning! It was so fun to get everyone together and it will be one of my favorite memories from the wedding. I am blessed to have such AMAZING family and cousins who were by my side during this whole wedding process

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
I think our guests favorite part of the wedding was how uniquely different it was. It had a good pairing of traditional and non-traditional elements.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Our special moment was spending the morning of the reception with our bridal party and close family. We truly were blown away seeing everyone come together and make our dream wedding come together. I remember walking out from my hair and make-up into the venue hall and having that ah-huh moment on how blessed we truly are!

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
Our 4 day wedding started off with a traditional mendhi at both the bride and grooms homes. It was filled with lots of food, laughter and dancing. We decided to change up the normal tradition and do the grooms egg rasum on this day to help the ease of the pithi/sangeet on the next day. The pithi and sangeet was our FAVORITE day! Our families put on wonderful performances and skits that talked about our relationship. Aamir and I are middle school sweethearts. Yes, middle school! The pithi had delicious indo-chinese food, chaat station, falooda station, bangle bar, bindi bar and dupatta bar. Guests were then served gourmet popcorn for their late night snack. The nikkah was on Friday and took place at our ismaili center in Plano. WE drove in style to the pithi in a McLaren and did the traditional khoba kobi game. Aamir build a WONDERFUL donut wall that we used to provide the traditional sweets for everyone to celebrate the marriage. On Saturday, we had a more americanized traditional reception! Growing up in the american culture but still having solid traditional roots made picking a theme for the wedding tough. Our happy medium was a FULL traditional mendhi, pithi, sangeet and nikkah with a non-traditional reception. We started the day off in a party bus and had a full day in the bridal and grooms suite with our bridal party! The evening kicked off with entrances, cake cutting and lots of dances. Each guest got to takeaway gourmet organic cotton candy for the favor. We catered barbeque food and had cupcakes and a smores bar for the desserts. We ended the evening with a sparkler exit and fireworks! It was truly a magical time!!

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Just enjoy every moment of it. All the stress during the weekend is not worth it! You have family to help with that. You want to be able to look back and be apart of your wedding

My mendhi had a few hidden elements that meant alot to me. For example an infinity sign with 2006 hidden in it. That is the year we started dating. Cake tasting was one of our favorite days! We wanted something different and seasonal so we went with mint chocolate chip, coffee flavored and cinnamon spice. The venue for each of our days were so different. Pithi/Sangeet had a more industrial and vibrant feel. The reception was rustic and modern at the same time. I truly think we paired a fusion of cultures into a very intimate and lovely little wedding.

Anaheim, CA Indian Wedding by Peter Nguyen Studio

It is time for an amazing new film, and you, my beautiful maharanis, will love it! You will be delighted by the fantastic job from our friends from Peter Nguyen Studio, who captured every single detail from Tamanna & Jay's celebrations. The Delta Hotels by Marriott Anaheim Garden Grove hosted the wedding ceremony and reception, and it was a perfect choice as they took care of not only Tamanna & Jay, our lovely duo, but of every guest as well. Everything was perfectly trimmed, and we can say that this was thanks to the professionalism and talented job from Subham Events, who made sure everything was perfect. Everyone had a blast during the weekend, from the pre-wedding traditional ceremonies to the wedding reception, where the well-selected music from Fusion Sounds turned the environment into a party. Something that delighted everyone, it was the splendid cuisine that Vishnu Catering served. Everyone was fascinated with this piece of heaven on earth. Just delicious! How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?

I had met Jay casually in October 2016 at our friends' surprise engagement but never really struck up a conversation.

In late January 2018, his name came up again.

I was paired with him to walk down the aisle at my best friend Jesal's wedding. I couldn't put a face to the name because so much time had passed.

It wasn't until Friday, February 2nd, 2018, 3 days after re-meeting him, where I first actually noticed Jay. He was wearing my favorite color, purple, at the Garba of our respective best friends, Jesal and Ravi. My friends teased me about him because we were wearing the same color. I joked back about it because I thought he was cute and I was interested in getting to know him. I even prepared a joke to say to Jay if I could gather the nerve to talk to him.

On the day of the wedding, we lined up side by side outside the main doors. Even though he seemed annoyed with me because the bridesmaids were running late and missed the initial entry song... I took my chances to lighten the mood.

"Are you ready to be the first guy I walk down the aisle with?" (since I had never been a bridesmaid before)

We met again at the wedding after-party & Superbowl party the next day. He messaged me on Facebook Messenger when I left and thereafter we would talk constantly via Messenger / Video Chat. He was quick to know that he wanted this forever and a few months later I knew there was just something different about the connection we had.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!

On the Sunday, a year after we first met, he claimed we were celebrating our friends' 1-year anniversary at Pelican Hill Resort. He, our friends, and another close friend who "happened to be in the area" were there with us at brunch. After they "sneakily" scoped out a place to propose since it was pouring rain outside, he walked me outside, laid down a napkin on the wet floor for his knee and to my "surprise", he proposed.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.

I was my own wedding planner. It was a good and bad experience. I think if you are clear on what you want and detailed enough to define it, being your own wedding planner saves on the cost of hoping someone else can achieve your vision. The bad part is that you have to trust vendors that you haven't worked with before. My mom was my assistant wedding planner and really helped me with a lot of the details and coordination. I couldn't have done it without her.

VENUES: The Ganesh Puja venue, my childhood home, was undoubtedly my favorite venue. We were able to do so much more because it was home and we were able to incorporate a lot of the personal elements into the decor. The meaning and significance behind the Ganesh Puja wouldn't have felt the same at any other venue. The sangeet venue, Fullerton Community Center, was a great choice for a pre-event due to affordability, ease of access and look and feel of the space. We did have to make some last minute fixes by buying chair covers because the standard chairs were of poor quality. The wedding/reception venue, Delta Hotels by Marriott, Anaheim/Garden Grove worked out well. I loved this venue because it was simple enough to feel like a family-hosted event and not a business event, and it had two ballrooms which worked out well to avoid any rushed transition time between the wedding and reception. Patty, my third coordinator at Delta Hotels, was great. She was personable, welcoming and great to work with. Though our wedding bags were not distributed by the check-in staff and other minor hiccups occurred, overall it was a great experience. It helped to have a clearly defined vision, details covered early-on and a lot of follow up.

HAIR & MAKEUP

Hair & Makeup for the pre-events were done by my hidden gem, Jewel Alonso. I loved every look of mine she was able to create. She was sweet and great to work with and I highly recommend her. Hair & Makeup for the wedding and reception were done by Drea Vlaovich. She was fun to work with and was definitely well-versed in Indian weddings. My favorite look of hers was my reception hair and makeup.

OUTFITS

I bought a lot of my pre-wedding outfits from Aishwarya Design Studio in Santa Cruz Market, Mumbai. I reluctantly share their name because they will increase prices or not have good outfits left for me if too many people go. However, I have bought over 35+ outfits from there over the years so I think I have my fair share that it is okay if others go there now. My wedding outfit and reception outfit were made by a custom designer. The wedding outfit came out closer to my vision than the reception outfit but both turned out well for photos.

CHOREOGRAPHER

When I went to India for two weeks, we would call a choreographer, Nikita Pawar over each morning to choreograph for us. She was so sweet and fun to work with though it was her first experience working on something like this.

DECOR THEME

My Ganesh Puja was done by a little known gem, Araceli. She was passionate about what she did, committed to every element, engrossed in all the details and was affordable. Guests loved her work on the backdrop. Honestly, she was too good for what she charged. On the other hand, I worked with Kumba Events for all other wedding events. I had heard good things, he gave good promises with his vast years of experience, and I regrettably bought into the whole thing. From an outsider's perspective, the wedding and reception looked fine but if you saw the Idea Boards, detailed designs and written out logistics that I walked him through months in advance, you would see why I was greatly disappointed. The Sangeet was a disaster in terms of decor. We paid more to have elements that were not even achieved. Simple things like cut-out mango designs were promised and delivered in the wrong color and then changed to a very poor quality (not cut out). For the wedding and reception, the florist we worked with for samples delivered a far inferior quality for the actual day of or was not the florist he went with. Her work on Instagram far surpassed the work provided to us via Kumba Events. No matter how clear of details I provided, how much follow up, the only elements that seemed to have worked were the ones we achieved by my family decor team.

FOOD

I cannot say enough positive words about Mantra Catering and specifically Sumit Sharma. Sumit is like family and he truly delivered on an amazing spread of food and desserts for the Sangeet and Reception. My work family loved him so much that they invited him back for my Farewell Lunch at work and he received even more praise. I cannot recommend a better food vendor but make sure you get to him fast. He, for good reason, books up fast.

PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEOGRAPHY

Peter Nguyen Studio's photography came out beautiful. Ayesha and Bao were great during the Ganesh Puja and I couldn't imagine videography done by anyone but Bao. He's so great at it. The colors and quality, details captured and family photos were remarkable. The Same Day Edit created to play during the Reception was amazing. I had provided the songs and information I wanted to include before hand which helped a lot but it was the great video and editing that really made it come together. I'm really looking forward to the full-feature video and highlight video.

DJ & LIGHTING

Saved the best for last. Fusion Sounds, specifically Sandeep, is great work with. He was by far my most organized vendor. I gave him detailed timelines and song requests and he was truly able to deliver. He was very responsive and answered any and all questions whenever I had them.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?

I knew I wanted maroon velvet because I felt like it worked better with my skin tone compared to the traditional red. I wanted the gold and traditional maroon combination and to keep elements of the traditional mango design in the outfit. The pink was a designer added surprise. He wanted to create more contrast to the outfit and convinced my mom and consulting aunts to agree. I added personalized elements into the design including my grandfather's initials, my husband's name and my teddy bear's head. It was my once-in-a-lifetime outfit that I wanted to personalize where possible. I do wish it fanned out more so the design would be more visible.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?

Working so closely with family and friends. I really wanted to ensure that the event felt family-planned and family-coordinated. My family definitely came through and helped immensely with the execution of my vision. I couldn't have done it without them.

Additionally, the coordination of dances with family and friends was the best way to get everyone together and to make people feel part of the big day as well. A lot of family members and friends have mentioned how much fun they had rehearsing.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?

Guests loved the details - personalized elements, food and entertainment. They knew it was my wedding in terms of how planned the personalized details were. The food and desserts by Mantra did not disappoint and was truly a guest favorite. We were blessed with many family and friends from both sides willing or wanting to perform so we had two full nights of entertainment that worked out great. Guests have mentioned to me how much they enjoyed the dances and speeches at both events.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?

Before the wedding one of my close friends at work, Mario, told me to make sure I take a moment to soak it in. A moment to look out into the crowd and just appreciate all that this day was. Despite the number of things my perfectionist mindset called out, the really special moment was during the wedding, looking at Jay smiling and then panning the crowd and appreciating each and every person in the crowd that had taken the time, traveled from far, delayed vacation plans..etc. to be there for us. It was emotional and overwhelming but you truly felt the love and support in the room. I will definitely recommend this for every bride-to-be.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?

- Be smart about who you put in charge of what. Sometimes your closest family or closest friends won't come with the best attitude to support you and some surprising family and friends will step forward. Put willing people in charge to be you when you need to be the bride.

- Know your vendors and read their reviews. Know what matters to you and what doesn't. Know what you want before you meet with vendors otherwise your wedding will become someone else's.

- Enjoy every moment of the day and remember to look back at your significant other a ton. Honestly, all I remember from most of the day's events is his smile throughout each of the events, how happy I was to see it, and how excited I was to see that smile forever. Everything else is just a blur.

JEWELRY

A lot of my jewelry was designed by Suram Jewels in Mumbai. As family, there was no one else I could trust with this and it meant so much to have jewelry done by Swati (masi). She was able to combine what I liked with the styles of my outfit and delivered great custom designs. I truly recommend her!

Milford, MA Indian Wedding by WSS Weddings

Apsara Events orchestrated the events that started with an array of colorful days of tradition, and that led to an elegant ceremony and reception at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Boston - Milford. Alankar delivered only the best for the couple and created a magical ambiance for the last two events, but Vrunda's ravishing beauty soon surpassed the spectacular decor. Our bride's delicate sparkling look was crowned by the makeup Pink Orchid Studio created for this newlywed queen. And of course, Sunny's wedding looks imposing on his brocade white sherwani. Kalamazoo, MI Indian Wedding by Shan Photography

This one has everything you expect out of a superb Indian wedding celebration, ladies! Heartfelt moments, stunning fashion choices, colors and lots and lots of family members! Today, we have the pleasure to share with your beautiful selves, a couple that just shines so brightly. They are Sonali & Hitesh, and in case you missed their gorgeous picture gallery we had a couple of days ago, you can always go back here. Today, it is time to get comfortable, call you bridesmaids, open a bottle of wine and sigh because today's filmy is oh so beautiful! The Radisson Plaza Hotel at Kalamazoo Center was looking at its very best to house the gala, and as we will see, the scenography was just dreamlike! And speaking of dreams, guess who was looking like a real-life princess? Maharani Sonali just left everyone stunned and Makeup By Karishma knows a thing or two about that! Look at the colors of her makeup! So chic! We are so loving this bash, ladies, as you can probably tell. So time to press play and get enchanted by today's filmy brought to us by Shan Photography! How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?

We matched on the Dil Mil dating app and talked for two months before finally deciding to meet in person in Chicago. He was in residency in St. Louis and I was in medical school in Detroit, so that was a good halfway point for us. We had talked on the phone and FaceTimed several times before meeting in person so it felt like I already knew him. We toured the city and eventually ended up sitting by the lakeshore talking about our lives, our goals, and our feelings. Honestly, I think I knew then that he was the one. I knew this was something special.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.

The wedding planning process is without a doubt a very stressful experience, but it was completely worth it. We did not hire a wedding planner because my family and I love planning events and we wanted to go about this our own way. We searched for vendors in both the Chicago and Detroit areas because the wedding was in my hometown Kalamazoo which is halfway between the two. Now as I look back, I couldn't have asked for anyone better. Everything was perfect and exactly the way I dreamed/wanted it to be.

Our venue coordinators at the Radisson (Lindsay and Sam) were PHENOMENAL from the day we booked the Radisson Plaza Hotel until the very end. They didn't have much experience with Indian weddings, but we were excited and willing to learn. We met several times to go over details and timelines and they didn't miss a thing. They were so key in keeping all the events running smoothly.

For hair and makeup, Karishma Mehta of Makeup By Karishma was also a dream come true. I shared pictures and Pinterest posts of the looks I was going for, and she nailed it. Each event was totally unique and totally perfect. At first, I struggled with an Indian vs non-Indian makeup artist due to costs. In the end, I am glad I chose Karishma because she was able to set my jewelry and do my draping without much additional instruction, allowing my mother, sister, and other family members to also get ready in a timely fashion.

Last but certainly not the least, we had the BEST DJ in the industry. DJ Mixta (Micky Singh of Singh Innovations) served as our DJ and MC. We met several times over the course of the planning process to go over timing, entrances, intros, and song selections. He was our personal hype man and to this day our guests RAVE about his charisma and his energy. He worked closely with our venue coordinators to ensure things were running in a timely fashion.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?

I definitely wanted a more traditional red and gold look for the wedding. Red is such a bold color and just screams bridal, and I couldn't imagine getting married in anything else. I spent one day in Rajouri Gardens in Delhi, trying on different styles and designs, but nothing clicked. I eventually ended up at CTC mall which was recommended by a friend. Their selection was unbelievable. My bridal lehenga happened to be the last one I tried on at the end of the night, right as the store was closing. When they draped it on me and I twirled around, I didn't need to look any further. I just knew I had found the right one.

On the other hand, searching for my reception gown turned out to be more difficult that I imagined. I searched high and low through Delhi and Vadodara trying to find the perfect dress. I had always envisioned a "Starry Night" themed reception and wanted a dress to match. Ideally, it would be navy blue and silver. But with the color trends these days, that was almost impossible to find. After days and days, and dresses on dresses, I finally arrived at Sequinze. The shopkeepers were determined to make my dream come true and pulled out their very best. The gown I chose fit me perfectly. It was silver and sparkly, and could perfectly complement a navy blue backdrop. They paired it with silver jewelry set from their store, and I felt like a princess.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?

I'm a total filmy Bollywood girl at heart. I absolutely loved picking songs with special meanings for each part of every event and our DJ was key in playing them at the right times. I also loved choreographing some of the dance performances! Danced with my bridesmaids at the sangeet, choreographed the first dance with my husband, and put together a fun skit/dance for the bridal party to perform at the reception.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?

The DJ's constant energy and enthusiasm pumping up the crowd for performances, entrances, and the open dance floor.

Huntington Beach, CA South Asian Wedding by Dove Weddings

Our filmy of the day showcases Priyanka & Pratik's day of magic and everything that went along with it. The pre-wedding celebrations, the nerve-wracking moments of the ceremony and of course, the lavish party at The Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort, we have it all here for your inspiration and sighing thanks to the striking talent of Dove Weddings who also crafted the lovely gallery we had here some days ago. How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?

Pratik and I were classmates while attending medical school in Kansas City, MO. We were introduced to each other by a common friend (Mauli) and spent a significant portion of our first year hanging out as a group. During our second term, he'd meet us at the library but anytime he’d sit with me I’d get up and move because I wasn’t sure what his deal was and idk it was hard to concentrate because he kept trying to talk lol! Anyways, during the Spring of our first year, Pratik asked me out to our medical school formal by singing me a medley of a few my favorite songs (omg right??). Of course, I said “yes!” After a fun evening together, we became really good friends and before we knew it, we had our first “date” at Coal Vines Pizza in Kansas City. That was the official start of our beginning.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!

When I came back from work, Pratik surprised me with a new dress, a new pair of shoes, and an evening planned in downtown Indianapolis to celebrate 4 years of dating. By this time I probably should have figured it out, but I didn’t!! I actually had no idea Pratik had even talked to my parents about proposing. As we made our way towards the Indiana War Memorial, we flipped through a photo album that Pratik made which highlighted the past 4 years together. Before I knew it, he got down on one knee in the middle of a heart full of roses, pulled out a ring, and popped the question. I had no idea what was going on and I immediately burst into tears. In the heat of the moment, I’m not even sure I said yes (or so he says). I still laugh because I actually asked Pratik later on, “did you ask my parents??” still in disbelief that I was engaged!

After Pratik gave me the most beautiful ring (that he designed for me) our closest friends crept up from behind and surprised me! I absolutely freaked out when I saw that some of my friends from Ohio, New York, Michigan, and DC who had made the trip! A few minutes later, Pratik’s parents, grandmother, and brother start walking towards me and I’m still bawling at this point when I see them. Then, I saw my parents walk towards me from the other side of the memorial with the biggest smiles on their face (I thought I was hallucinating at first since they live in California). And last but not least my big brother Abhishek makes his entrance! We took lots of pictures together and ended the evening at this Italian restaurant in Indianapolis. It was just the most incredible day filled with lots of laughter and tears! I’ll always remember it!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.

Planning a wedding in California during the middle of residency and while living in separate states, really wasn’t easy. Initially, we did a lot of research on our own regarding venues, vendors, and décor. We used Maharani Weddings to get an overall feel of which vendors to contact and how to organize our weekend. Once we found our Event Coordinator, Jen with First Pick Planning she really helped get the ball rolling. We received high recommendations for Azra Bholat with Dream Décor who was very easy and a pleasure to work with. Everything we envisioned for our big day was brought to reality. I found Instagram super helpful when it came to finding my mehndi artist (Gopi Henna) and makeup artist (Peace Love Sakina) and from their online portfolios I knew their work was in line with what I had in mind for my look.

Our family was a huge support through it all. My parents live in California and were a huge help in the wedding planning process. They visited all the venues in SoCal that would accommodate our number and we all agreed that the Hilton was by far the best. Pratik’s family special ordered some Paan and Mithai from a store in Gujarat. His mom and Nani made a ton of Indian snacks that we put in our welcome bags which everyone appreciated.

Regarding themes, we wanted a sort of traditional Indian look with vibrant colors at our sangeet to create a fun and welcoming atmosphere for our guests. For the other events, we stuck with a more elegant look theme, incorporating my favorite colors, coral and white, into our clothing and decor. My wedding cards were also designed with roses in mind.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?

I tried to coordinate my bridal outfits with the decor. For my bridal lehenga, I wanted to choose a traditional Red but also incorporate some coral details. I was able to customize my lehenga at Frontier Raas in Delhi including the colors, cut, fabric, borders, and embroidery. They definitely worked some magic putting everything together. You can make anything happen there – I highly recommend it for all brides.

I found my sangeet and reception outfits at Ritu Kumar also in New Delhi, India. RK has a huge variety and I was naturally drawn to her designs from the second I walked into the store. My sangeet outfit was colorful with brocade and the golden drape sleeves on my reception gown (special credit to my mom) added a lot of twinkles that evening.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?

The most enjoyable part of the planning process is watching your family and friends get excited about your special day. It’s amazing -- you realize what a big support system you have and how everyone is working tirelessly to make that weekend perfect. Even though finding outfits can be chaotic, once you say “Yes!” it’s also pretty awesome!

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?

Aside from the view of the pacific ocean which was truly breathtaking, everyone complimented the decorations and food the entire weekend. Azra with Dream Decor was very easy to work with and made everything we envisioned a reality. Natraj in SoCal is absolutely the best. I still dream about the Ravioli with Makhani sauce!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?

On the morning of the Sangeet, I’ll always remember how I felt when I heard that Pratik and his family landed in LA and had finally arrived to the hotel! I was beyond excited to meet them and I think that’s the moment reality set in! Also, Pratik’s expression, when he saw me for the first time at the Mandap, is something I’ll cherish for a lifetime :)

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.

My haldi/mehendi celebration was at home with close friends and family. My father had made a homemade mandap of marigolds which meant a lot to me, and it was a special place to have both of those ceremonies.

At the reception, Pratik and I wrote out some of our fondest memories and incorporated them into the centerpieces at each table. We wrote a memory about our medical school prom, Pratik’s proposal, our trip to Thailand and many many more.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?

I designed my bridesmaids and groomsmen’s outfits and handpicked all the material when I went to Delhi. This may sound like a lot of work, but it was a ton of fun and well worth the effort. Getting them custom made (and exactly how I wanted them) also had more meaning behind them since they were for our closest friends to wear.

Also, get your family and friends involved! They are there to help and sometimes they have the best ideas. Pratik's younger brother is an amazing dancer and so he choreographed several awesome dances for us that weekend which we loved!

Located right on PCH, the views at the Hilton Waterfront are absolutely GORGEOUS! The mirror walls in the Breakwater ballroom are too beautiful to hide. The cocktail hour overlooked the pacific ocean sunset, and the sangeet had a cute outdoor space for cocktails and mingling. When we checked in, we were greeted with a bottle of champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries. Also, our Bridal suite had an incredible panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean. Vanessa Delp at the Waterfront was very easy to communicate with and super helpful throughout the process. She and Jen made sure our families were well taken care of and made sure they ate!

We chose a guava mango cake – courtesy of Keith at Tasty Temptations. It was delicious and 100% vegan! Azra added a few white flowers on top – it was beautiful! We also had a few small bite-sized desserts (Tres leches, Tiramisu, and Chocolate Fantasy) which were a hit (and after the reception, I definitely indulged in all of the above lol).

Check out Shrihari Diagems in Delhi. Vinay's work is really beautiful and he actually designed a few pieces for Deepika Padukone in Bajirao Mastani. The haath phool were my mom's at her wedding.
