Carlsbad, CA Indian Wedding by I Do Wedding Video

Hello ladies, welcome to today’s big film reveal! I Do Wedding Video is here to bring the story of Nicki and Ravishankar through a cheery highlight film! The blissful celebrations were launched with a night of garba dance and dandiya sticks that set the tone for the following events! The perfect time to get married arrived for Nicki and Ravishankar in a summery day of August at the sophisticated Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa. The arrival of the groom in a steed from Enchanted Carriages along with his wedding procession announced that the big moment had arrived for these two to marry at the coastal location which offered a perfect outdoor ceremony ambiance for the marriage rites. The lovely Nicki also made her grand entry decked in an alluring AsoPalav lehenga impeccably draped by the beauty expert squad of Bridal By Nisha and brightened her hands with a breathtaking mehndi design by Henna San Diego. All guests enjoyed some drinks while the Sitar of Ronobir Lahiri Music played on the background in a cocktail hour that preceded the big bash. Mantra Indian Cuisine served a fabulous dinner that suited every taste while the premier Fusion Sounds kept the guests moving by providing music entertainment all night long!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
We met in 2015 at Penn State, where we had both started working around the same time - I was the social butterfly who talks to everyone, and he helped me with my IT issues - a few weeks later, we had our first day-long date. I knew he was definitely "the one" when he got me the Mindy Kaling book "Why Not Me?" for Christmas when I had already owned/read it, but it told me he knew me well enough!

I am impossible to surprise, so I am very proud of Ravi for throwing me off on this one, by proposing when I was post-night shift and not-yet-caffeinated. He took me to my favorite botanical garden, Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania, and brought his best friend (and future best-man) and his girlfriend (now wife) and used the ongoing orchid festival as a cover-up. He proposed in a beautiful spot under a gorgeous bunch of orchids, and all I could say was "of course!"

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
-I think it takes a year (or so), a village, and a lot of patience. Social media can be helpful for finding people, but also terrible with constant comparison to other weddings which may look great, but may be significantly out of budget!
- For venue, I fell in love with multiple places around San Diego but did not want to have a different hotel or site for events without adjacent hotel rooms. If this is also important to you, do not settle for anything less! I loved having everything all in one place! Many venues are now more open to Indian weddings so I felt we had plenty to choose from. I was lucky to get married on my dream date, 8.18.18, which was a rare find!
- I was a busy 3rd-year resident while planning my wedding, and was planning a west coast wedding from the east coast, and to avoid getting overwhelmed I scheduled one thing per week to book/research. I had the venue sorted by June, most main vendors done by November. I went to India in January for 5 days and then afterward took a break with planning until around April, after I took a big board exam. We then focused for the most part from April to August, and everything worked out great! I think that break was a great way to not get burnt out from the wedding planning process.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
- We had the sitar player, Ronobir Lahiri, playing during our happy hour and guests LOVED this! For those who don't know him, he plays English and Indian songs by sitar - Youtube him! When doing my research, I loved Ronobir's music so much and knew we wouldn't really be part of the cocktail hour, so also had him play for an hour during dinner service, which was great since I also got to listen to it. Again, guests were OBSESSED!
- The food from Mantra catering was also spectacular on both days - all the fusion, traditional food, and desserts were amazing!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
- When I was told the wedding ceremony had ended THIRTY MINUTES EARLY!!!! I was SO happy! We did group photos on the mandap (this was going to be cut if we had run late) and I even got extra photos with my bridesmaids too. For my Type A personality, this made me extremely happy!

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Have a wedding coordinator (and all vendors, really) whom you trust, and who just "gets" Indian weddings, and isn't thrown off by the madness!

Come back tomorrow for more inspiration!

Discover all the splendor and sentiments captured on this marvelous highlight film!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Yogesh and I met at ICAP Garba in 2012 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He came up to me and the first thing he said was "What is your name?" and I'm thinking really? We ended up meeting again next year at the same place and just hit it off! (Maybe it was fate). About a year into our relationship I knew he was "the one" because I always wanted to marry someone who I share inside jokes with and makes me laugh at the awkwardest times. He turned out to be just that and because of it, we have great stories to tell our children.

Yogesh proposed by the Brooklyn Bridge in NYC. He invited all of our friends ( appx. 50 people) and drew out a big heart with flower petals on the floor. I was told we are going for a friend's birthday in NYC and meeting at the bridge for photos before the party. As soon as I walk up I see everyone with their backs facing me and I'm so confused. I begin walking to the side so I don't ruin someone's decor. As he takes me inside the heart, I see everyone turn around and I recognize everyone standing there. I look over and he is on his knee! I couldn't believe it was happening! He says" I won't promise you the world, I won't promise you wealth, and I won't promise you happiness BUT I do promise that I will try to give you the world, I will try to give you wealth, and I will try my darnest best to give you all the happiness in the world. On top of that, I promise one more thing, I promise you all the booze in the world. You'll be so intoxicated by it BUT more than that you'll be more intoxicated by my love! I love you a lot Jayti! Will you marry me?" (The booze part is because he owns a liquor store) And of course, by this time I was ugly crying and said YES!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
I planned my wedding on my own with help from friends and family of course! Love my make up artist, she was the best I could have gotten and she was so helpful both professionally and emotionally. (Susmita Patel). Decor was Ravi Verma from Wedding design and he did a fabulous job! I bought my outfits from India in January and my family in India helped me out with that! I got the Royal Queen look I was going for from Asopalav.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I had deep red in my mind when I buy my lehenga and actually went with a drawing of what I had in mind and found exactly that

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Wedding decor and food tastings. Designing my wedding mandap has always been a dream and of course, this was my one chance so I went all out!

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
They loved the organization because I took care of every single detail ahead of time. They loved the customized hotel key cards I made with our photos on it.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
One really special moment was the look on Yogesh's face when he opened boomf. (see link attached) https://boomf.com/

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Start planning as early as you can! The first thing you should book is the venue, and the next should be your make up artist! You want to look great on your wedding day. People will forget the food but photos are forever!

As much as I love him our timeline is a bit ridiculous. He proposed the weekend after helping me expand my business Shanti Healing which is named after my grandmother. He was supposed to fly home on Sunday evening and little did I know he rented a car to go stay at my best friends an hour away so he can go check out the perfect location down PCH.

He did an amazing job & I am very surprised no one slipped even with me hosting a paint nite as an early mother's day celebration the evening before.  All 4 of My best friend were pregnant at that time so one used the excuse of wanting to go check out pregnancy shoot locations and planned a girls day however little to our surprise as we were getting ready one friend was in the hospital giving birth and her text me was she wasn't feeling well so don't pick her up. We get to the beach I'm taking pictures of my friend and her husband and  I feel a tap on my shoulder ... rest is the beginning of our future after 7.5 months of dating.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I really wanted a red gown however my mom, sister's & aunts were strongly against it. I actually found my wedding out our 1st day in India, we had to facetime my Mami but with the time difference our connection failed but after seeing how many stores carried the print that I had originally went to India with I instantly fell in love with my outfit

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Getting so many random dates with my mother's (mom & 4 aunts)

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Heard a lot of compliments on how everyone enjoyed the events. We had paint nite at my mehndi,  churros & dipped ice cream at my reception,  and raised a toast with our audience rather than kissing at our I dos.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
The views on our wedding day, even though things were going wrong feeling that nervousness before I tapped his shoulder for our 1st look pictures. How family that rarely come to events all came to celebrate our love. Sooo many more moments

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Be ready for your MIL to pull last-minute shenanigans.  Try to keep in mind no matter how organized you are, how much time, sleeplessness goes into planning there will always be something that goes unplanned.

Enjoy your weekend!

Herndon, Virginia Indian Wedding by Akbar Sayed Photography

It's always exciting to receive a wedding from Akbar, you know it's going to be unique and today it's not an exception. I'm happy to present to you Abi and Varun's inspiring wedding film by Akbar Sayed Photography! We had the pleasure of featuring their stunning wedding images in our blog so make sure to check them out! I love the cinematic style that takes us through a wedding weekend like no other at the Dulles Hyatt. DMV Decor was in charge of bringing our couple's vision to life with mesmerizing decor on each of their events, from colorful umbrellas for their Sangeet to a night under the starts for their reception, absolutely beautiful! Abi looked jaw-dropping with every look but my favorite is seeing her emerge donning a stunning red lengha further beautified with the perfect kundan jewelry, ready to surprise Varun in a lovely first look moment marking the start of their wedding day. They had a reception to remember for many years to come, concluding with a lively party where all the guests celebrated their union and were able to take a memento home thanks to Poze N Cheez. Kudos to Extravagant Affairs for pulling the perfect weekend for Abi and Varun!

See you tomorrow, Maharanis!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?

We met in college through mutual friends. He once told my best friend that his next girlfriend would be someone like me. I wanted to be single and decided not to approach him because I told that same friend "he's boyfriend material." It didn't last long and every time we saw each other there was definitely a pull. We started dating but in complete denial that they were dates, so we don't even have a date that we started dating! it was the same when we fell in love. Neither of us can pinpoint when, it just happened and we just knew this was meant to be!

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
I love the summer, beaches, and anything nautical. My best friends took me to Long Branch beach and I had an inkling but they did an amazing job convincing me I was wrong. One of my friends said "let's go see the sunset" and as we were walking and I was telling them a rather gruesome story about how my parrot died, they were recording me and laughing. I looked ahead and under a gazebo and in front of the sunset, he stood. I fell in love all over again and now I get to fall for him everyday :)

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
I didn't dream of my wedding growing up. When we started talking about the wedding, I just knew I had to get everything in place so everyone can enjoy the wedding day. As I continued planning, we argued over small things and disagreements but at some point, I realized something very important. The whole point of the wedding was to have a successful marriage. We planned together and allowed our loved ones to take part and give suggestions. What else is a wedding if you don't include everyone and add some chaos!

All of my vendors were first time picks. My makeup and bridal hair attendants worked on me during my cousins wedding two years prior and I told them right there and then that they would be my attendants! I knew that I not only wanted talent, but I wanted people to be a part of my day and memory. My decorators went above and beyond and truly captured not just want I payed for but they added additional items the day of that they knew I would love!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I went shopping in India for a month after 14 years for my wedding! I had seen a Manish Malhotra dress on Instagram that I absolutely fell in love with. When I got to India, I couldn't find a similar one and ended up buying a dress. My sister, and maid of honor, sensed that I wasn't exactly happy the way I was about my other outfits. We stayed up all night and she told me she felt like she let me down as well for letting me make a quick decision. We called first thing in the morning just as they were opening the dress for alterations and told them to hold off. I went in the next day with a clear mind and reminded myself that I was buying this dress for my wedding day and for Amit to be wowed! I chose a dress and had pleats added to the bottom of my skirt and had them make me a custom solid blouse that they had to dye. Lastly, I had them make me a specific shade of mint that I wanted incorporated into my wedding . Everything came together so beautifully!

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why
The most enjoyable part of the planning process was seeing my family and friends often! We get so busy in our everyday lives. We truly were in awe that everyone came together to make the day special for us. It wasn't just the wedding that we will remember forever but truly the people in our lives that showed us how loved we are.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
I didn't get a chance to ask all of my guests but seeing the smiles and happiness on their faces, I hope they loved the positive energy!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
After the saat phere were completed, my dad went to hug my father in law. As he went in for a hug he broke down and said "please take care of my daughter" and my father in law broke down and said, "she's our daughter too now." I gained twice the amount of love that day!

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
Everyone knew they had to do a dance at the wedding because dance has always been a big part of my life. My parents never danced and even they went up for a quick performance! It was amazing to see how much time and effort everyone put in.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Remember that the wedding is your journey to a successful marriage. Remember that the day of is not all about all of the perfections but about how much people go above and beyond to try to make it perfect for you!

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
No cake- save the time and opt for more desserts! We did chocolate covered strawberries and it was such a hit! Pay for flowers- don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Fresh flowers will make you happy and you'll feel good- keep them by you in the morning as you get ready. If you're like me, put the entire bouquet in your bun! Cheers to love!

Congrats to Krupa and Amit on a beautiful wedding!
