Welcome back sweeties! If you are here, you surely have checked out Maharani Deepal’s Royal Indian Fusion Affair that we shared on the main blog, right? If you haven’t, we will wait patiently with a cup of hot chai so we can both relish in the details of this super romantic, week long Indian wedding! This fusion wedding sprang out of Northern California in Palo Alto immersing both the Hindu and Jewish cultures. I instantly fell in in love with Deepal’s mehndi! Ladies, if you are looking for some inspiring mehndi work, make sure you look into the art of Maaz Henna Creations. Maaz is a master of his craft and his work shows in itself! Both the wedding ceremony and reception was held at the Oshman Family JCC with DJ Tanveer heading up the baraat as well as pumping up the dance floor with all of the latest hits. The event itself was gorgeous with the work of Aesthetic Event Planning and Design. Speaking of gorgeous, how amazing was Deepal’s many different looks? Local makeup artist Lavina Shah helmed the importance task of glorifying our Maharani. At the reception party, guests enjoyed fine Indian cuisine from a brand spanking new Indian restaurant, Sakoon while enjoying the photo booth from Philfoto. We can’t forget the very important element of invitations and Gemini Card Products in Mumbai supplied the stationary that brought all the guests to this magnificent wedding.

Roshni and Mihir share the classic story of meeting in high school and building the foundation that would eventually lead them to holy matrimony. Although it was always evident the two would eventually tie the knot, Mihir still managed to make his proposal a surprise! The theme of his proposal was in the adorable form of a scavenger hunt and you can catch all the details below where Maharani Roshni gushes about her special day. Their weekend long celebration included a garba night, mehndi night, wedding and reception. Both the wedding and reception were held at the LaCentre Conference & Banquet Facility. Planning multiple events and multiple days of celebration required a lot more coordination and Party Decor took on the task of making sure all events intertwined seamlessly. This is one Indian Wedding that was simple yet elegant and Roshni was determined to find the perfect traditional panetar, which is a white sari with red bhandhini borders, for her wedding day. She traveled across the world to India to find the best outfits and she looked absolutely stunning in both her wedding and reception lengha. Both of her lenghas had a subtle flair that was fit for this Gujarati wedding. The wedding ended up with a bang as fireworks were set off to celebrate the wedding celebrations which rocked out into the reception! Maharani Weddings was able to get the deets straight from the bride herself!

How did you meet your Raja and when did you know he was "the one"?

Mihir and I met when we were in high school and we have been inseparable ever since! We are high school sweethearts! At first, I didn't think he was someone that I would see myself with, but after becoming friends and getting to know him, it made me realize that this is someone I want to spend the rest of my life with. I saw how caring and genuinely good hearted he was and I knew this is someone that will always be there for me. I knew he was "the one", because he brought out the side of me that I didn't know existed. He taught me to always aim for the stars and to be great at everything you pursue. He taught me that life is an adventure, and you should make the most of each day. He brings out the best of me, and I knew then that this is someone I want to be with forever.

Do you have a super romantic proposal story or engagement memory?

Mihir proposed to me with a secret scavenger hunt around Cleveland with clues at each location. I received a text from Mihir that said "Go check your front door step for a package." We have done surprise gifts for each other in the past so I thought “Oooh, he must have bought me a gift". I go to the doorstep and I find a wrapped box and I open it to find a dress in it and a note that read "Today is the day that we have been waiting for" and a clue for my first location. I get to the Chinese food place at the mall where we had shared many plates of Chinese food, and of course the cashier gives me the next clue to the park we used to go and play tennis. I get there and I see an envelope is taped to the ground with my clue where we had our first date. I go the movie theatre and outside by the boards I received my next and final clue. I headed to the park where we use to go hiking and sat by a small pond and just talked for hours. I am walking along the path and and I get to this tiny bridge where he was waiting to propose.

How did you choose your lengha or lenghas? Did you work with a certain designer? Did you spend hours on the internet first?

I traveled to India with my mom and my in-laws to shop for my garba, mehndi, wedding and reception lengha. We traveled to Ahmedabad, Surat, and Bombay in search for the perfect lengha for each event that would make me feel and look beautiful for each event.

I wasn't the typical bride that had centerpiece ideas or cake designs or decor ideas for the wedding day, but there was one thing that I had always dreamed of and it was a perfect panetar with the traditional bright reds and white in color. I looked in several cities and tried on handfuls of wedding lengths before I reached Surat. When I tried on my panetar and the moment I came out of the fitting room, I knew it was  the one. I didn't need to think about it twice to make the decision that it was the one I wanted on my wedding day! We also customized each of Mihir's outfits to match my lenghas.

Looking back, was there a really special moment that you remember from your wedding that stands out as the most magical?

Coming out on the doli was a very special moment for me. It felt just perfect going down the aisle to marry the love of my life. I didn't feel nervous for a moment going down the aisle. I knew this was everything I've ever dreamed of. Once the curtain (Antarpat) that separated Mihir and I was removed and when I saw him at the altar, his smile was the most amazing moment of the wedding for me. His smile radiated so much happiness and excitement. I can still feel the same happiness I felt then when I think back to us looking at each other and smiling and feeling like we were the only people in that room at that moment.

Did family or friends help out with certain special details that really added to the event?

Our family and friends were such a huge part of the planning process. Both sets of parents were so supportive in our decisions and guided us through the entire process. We did not have a wedding planner so having the support of family and friends through little hiccups throughout the weekend kept everything so smooth. Mihir and I planned majority of the details, and the support of the family helped us to execute everything perfectly!

It is finally Friday Maharanis! It’s time to click off those heels and grab a cup of lavender tea (hint, it helps you unwind!) as we venture to the beautiful city of San Francisco for Maharani Ruhee’s royal Indian wedding affair. This fusion wedding intertwined Pakistani, Punjabi and Guajarati cultures seamlessly! On the mehndi night, held at the Chandni Restaurant, the venue was decked out by Samira Sarwat.  Ruhee was a stunner in all her Indian bridal fashion by Queens. From a dark emerald lengha to a dusty pink and gold dress right down to her crimson red wedding outfit, this is one Bride that mastered the art of slaying at being a Maharani! Ruhee is naturally gorgeous and was further beautified by the magic hands of Farhana Baig and the henna master at charge was Shazneen Subedar. The venue, Fremont Marriott, on wedding night, glistened with glitter and glam and I especially loved the romantic touch of the linens draping the ceiling by Moh from Prime Party Rentals.. Maharaja Saif, alongside his dhol player, brought the party with him and surprised his soon to be Bride with a choreographed dance to Tera Hero Idhar Hai on their mehndi night! Truly a scene that pleasantly shocked Ruhee. Finally the big day arrived and guests returned to enjoy the festitives and the chicken tikka and naan from Chandni Restaurant and savory, sweet desserts from Rachel’s Cakes. This wonderful cinematic film celebrating the fusion of Indian glamour and glitz is brought to you by Vitaliy Lyuvezhanin with Aperina Studios and photography work by Paul Lyubezhanin.

There are some wedding videos that make you smile on the inside, some that make you cry like a baby, but this one made us cry as we smiled the whole time. Binny and Jason’s wedding film by PS Photography & Films was a work of art. The four day affair comprised of the Mendhi, welcome party, Sangeet, Vidhi, ceremony and an afterparty, all held at the Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa. The Royal Collection created personalized and cutesy invitations and stationery that included wine bottles and playing cards, for guests. The ceremony decor by EC Floral Design and Events was opulent and visually dramatic at every turn, synonymous with the baraat music and lighting by Pavan Events. Set on a platform, the canopy-style mandap featured asymmetric drapes in mint, with pastel floral arrangements adorning the edges. Suhaag Garden set the tone for the Sangeet with a vibrant color scheme. Dalsimer Atlas's choice of white and gold hues gave a refined look to the reception venue, Henry Morrison Flagler Museum, where DJ Jay Dabhi had the guests movin' and groovin'. Binny’s trousseau outfit, which was chiefly red, with pops of mint and peach was designed by the bride and Binny and her bae's clothes were adorably color-coordinated. Binny fondly recalled how Jason sneaked into her room to gift her 3 pairs of Louboutins because she had forgotten to bring her bridal shoes - what a perfect soul mate! Hair and makeup by Lauren Walsh of True Love Bridal Beauty ensured that Binny photographed flawlessly.  Jennifer J Events undoubtedly put together a wedding that made Binny and Jason’s tropical dreams come true. We sat down for a quick tete-a-tete with Binny to get an inside scoop on their balmy wedding: 

Describe your wedding weekend to us!

The weekend was picturesque and more than we could've dreamt of. We opted for a destination wedding and knew our closest family and friends would travel the distance to celebrate our big day. The gesture of taking the time out meant a lot to us, so the comfort of our guests was a big priority. We wanted them to feel as if they were on a vacation. Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa fit all our requirements, and we hosted all the events until the reception, here.The ceremony ended just as the sun was setting down behind us, followed by a full Gujarati dinner, with live music from a full string orchestra. The traditional aspect of the ceremony ended with a yet another twist on the Vidaai- with a "Sparkler Send Off" and violinist. The baraat arrived on jet skis and let us take advantage of our oceanfront resort and scenic backdrop. It really added to the liveliness of the party.

Tell us about your wedding style. When you sat down to figure out how your dream wedding would look, did you start with one central color, a palette of colors, or a theme that served as your inspiration?

I love the traditional Indian colors of a panetar (red, green and white) but felt this would be a stark comparison to the ocean backdrop. So we opted for pastel versions of these shades (coral, mint green and ivory) and complemented our attire with a white based mandap, with mint drapery and coral peonies. We focused a lot on our guests so each day had poolside cabanas with food and alcohol, which paired perfectly with the sunshine, ocean view and music. There was karaoke & bingo for the elders, and a full-day hospitality suite with kids' activities, coloring books, and movies.

What did you enjoy most about the process of planning your dream Indian wedding?

We had a welcome stationery kit with an itinerary and personalized infographics, program lists with personalized caricatures (thanks, sis!) and several personalized gifts to place in the hospitality suite (playing cards, mini wine bottles) which all turned out to be a huge hit with our friends and family. It felt great to hear that all the time and preparation was appreciated!

Looking back, was there the one special moment that stands out as the most magical?

The entire day was just so perfect. From start to finish - it will all be etched in our memories forever. If I had to point out, it would certainly be getting ready with my mom and sister. There was just so much emotion and excitement in the air - our conversations were so sentimental and touching. Another favorite would be when Jason surprised me the morning of the ceremony by sneaking into my room and placing 3 pairs of Louboutin's on my bed. Being such a shoe fanatic, I somehow forgot to shop for my own wedding shoes and I was devastated that I meticulously prepared for everything throughout the weekend but forgot the little detail that would make me feel beautiful - which has always been shoes! I'm still not sure how he knew I would forget them or if he found out after the fact.

Did family or friends help out with certain special details that really added to the event?

My family was a huge part of the wedding.  My parents were amazing throughout the process and gave me the freedom to plan a destination wedding. We had a full event planner but no one knows me better than my family and siblings. They helped through all the little hiccups that appeared and never let me worry about a single detail. My sister really took charge with all the stationary, dances, and last minute details for my bridal look; my brother and brother-in-law helped tremendously with logistics, vendors, managing the details, etc; and my sister in law pulled through for the seating arrangements hours before the reception!

We'd love to hear all about your other details!

The unofficial Afterparty was so much fun. We had an open bar, party food (Flatbread pizza, Egg and Cheese Mini Croissants with Tater Tots, Buffalo Style Chicken Wings, Parmesan Dusted Shoestring Fries with Truffle Aioli, Warm Cookies and Milkshake Shots, Endless cupcakes) and DJ Jay Dabhi’s music. The party lasted until 4 am for most people (except the bride of course!)
