How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Two years ago we were introduced by a common friend at some social gathering but i didn’t remember that introduction at all. So the next time my husband saw me was at a party.. he walked right up to me on the dance floor and acted like he was my best friend. I was like - who is this guy again? And then thought to myself "What the hell..  he’s cute, let’s explore! ” We got along like a house on fire and that very same night we spoke for three hours. After that we went on several creative creative dates and before we knew it we were officially dating. They're absolutely correct when they say " the right person will walk into your life & you'll have no idea from where he’ll come from" - mine literally walked up to me!
My experience was truly mystic and magical. Marriages really are made in heaven.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
It was straight out of a movie! We had gone to Bangkok for the weekend, to celebrate the sale lf his company in India. We extended the trip 3 times and stayed 14 days, because we just couldn't get enough of partying and spending time together. On the second last day he tells me that he's booked us for dinner at a really nice restaurant. Unsuspectingly I went along, it was on a boat and beautifully done up. The boat docked in front of a Buddhist temple and he asked me to come uo to take a look. Then and tehre he went down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. I was in tears, while everyone else on the boat was cheering. It was even more meaningful because I practice Budhism and he decided to do it in front of a Budhist temple which was lit up fully at night. The view and the proposal left me speechless.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
So blessed to have had the most surreal, intimate and beautiful wedding on the island of Oahu in Hawaii.

Exchanging vows on the ocean front along with a picture perfect view of the sunset, amongst the few people who love you the most - this truly was a fairy tale wedding.

As a true Delhi girl I always expected a big fat Indian wedding, but I knew that these challenging circumstances wouldn't allow that for a long time to come. Sometime in the 2nd week of June our parents decided to not wait indefinitely and go ahead with a traditional Hindu ceremony here in Hawaii- where all of us have been spending our lockdown. With just 2 weeks in hand we managed to organize both our outfits from New Delhi - fortunately I had brand new one which I'd bought earlier for my sisters wedding & for Rohan we actually did a video call with the designer and I took the measurements. The forces of the universe conspired to make this wedding flawless - outfits were tailored on time, couriers reached on time, we found a learned priest here in Hawaii, a venue with a view thats breathtaking, a talented hair artist who was available - trusted & with full safety measures, jewelry from his aunt whose based on this island, chura and mangalsutra flew in from LA, the best and most well-known team of photographers & videographers here and most importantly - perfect pleasant weather with no rain! Thankfully my husband's aunt here is a wedding planner - she was super resourceful with full attention to detail on every aspect.
The video team on my instructions had dedicated one person to take care of the zoom call using the stand that was organised. Watching my loved ones who had dressed up for the occasion virtually & taking their blessings was an incredible experience. I'm no make up expert, but somehow that day I did it perfectly - a look that soft, feminine, flirty, elegant yet a bit glamorous.. Apt for a day wedding. In my experience, a lot has to do with being happy within and as a bride your face just glows with joy, I didnt miss having a makeup artist at all!

With just 10 people physically present and several others there virtually - I enjoyed every moment of my wedding . Every moment sank in slowly and I lived/absorbed all of it with no chaos around, only the sound of waves :)

The one thing that we were all very particular about was that every vendor had to wear a mask, every surface/tool/gadget we touched was sanitized, we had sanitizer bottles everywhere. We also ensured that the family members attending as well as the ither vendors had been taking adequate safety measures a few days before the wedding. We didnt want to let our guard down for even one day - small risks could endanger someone's health and that would be terrible, as a result of this joyous occasion.

For everyone out there whose having a lockdown wedding - you should totally be on cloud nine, its your big day and your intimate wedding can be the most meaningful one if you're happy on the inside. Also, now with so many ideas out there its totally worth it to get a wedding planner as theres so much you can do!
Eg. Your bridesmaids can co ordinate their dress for zoom

- You can send out wedding favors/gifts with props for the call

- Favours can be sent after the wedding I had this organized in New Delhi. Sent a hamper of Royce chocolates with a personalized note to the extended family.

The zoom/e invite can be nicely drafted.

Milnis and other ceremonies on zoom

Personalized masks and sanitizer bottle covers.

And lots more! Get creative

Believe me, theres nothing like marrying the one you love amongst the people who really matter - its blissful, its joyful and an experience you ll never forget.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
Fortunately for me I had a brand new heavy bridal lehenga by Siddharth Tytler lying with me in Delhi. I had bought it a few years agi for my sisters wedding and didn't end up wearing it, because I bought so many more! The shopaholic that I am :)
With such a short notice and during these challenging times it was impossible to get a lehenga in Hawaii. Hence I had this one couriered. I was quite sure it wont reach on time and was planning a back up outfit. But to my surprise the parcel came within a week and I could wear that lovely red bridal lehenga. It's true, you really do feel like an Indian bride once you're all dressed, and the traditional red lehenga has a huge role to play in that.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
R. It's like an exciting project! I think I had the best time choosing the venue. Because we were getting married on this beautiful island, every location was stunning. It was going to be a small intimate wedding and hence I wanted the best view. The venue, the flowers, the decor and figuring out a zoom display. All of it was fun, unique, unexpected and quite an adventure

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
The fact that it was only family and as loved ones they could be a part of every moment, absorb everything thats going on. They coyld bless us and witness every ceremony peacefully. This is what got everyone very emotional and I had a momemt of realization - that this is what a wedding ceremony should be like. With large weddings a lot of my friends barely remember the rituals/traditions followed because there's so many people, so many thoughts in your head.. Its chaotic.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
The moments when neither my husband nor I could understand what the priest was saying as he was talking in Sanskrit and my prankster husband decides to say/do things to amuse us. Several times we were caught giggling on camera during a very serious ceremony. I'll never forget that, for me those were the moments I decided that we are now going to be together forever..

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
For me it was all in one day! Starting from the chura, baraat, my entry as a bride, the hindu wedding ceremony, the griha pravesh, muh dikhai and the celebrations with some bubbly.
I was fortunate to be able to have all the ceremonies despite my challenging circumstances. I got married in Hawaii,
my Lehenga came from India, my Chura came from LA, I had worn my husband's aunts jewelry, did my own make up, the decor was stunning, the food was fabulous and the videographers were the most co operative as the had to keep on eye on the zoom video telecast too. All the vendors that we worked with were so helpful, they would take a lot of interest, make exceptions when its not necessary etc. I thought to myself this is the spirit of Hawaiian people, they're just so friendly and caring.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Live every second of your wedding!
Especially for Covid Brides -
Its still yoir special say, you're the star.. Never onve feel that your wedding was a compromise because it actually is a blessing in disguise. You ll feel so much more with just tbise who matter around you.

The glow only comes from within, hence pls do everything you can to remain happy those days. There is no need to stress, wnough people arw working to make your wedding the most special.

The one thing you can focus on is your pictures, makeup and your look. Those who couldn't attend the wedding will live it through the photos and also in future your children /grandchildren will see these. Images are timeless.

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
I did have a really cute and colorful Mehendi ceremony the day before at our home. His parents and relatives came over and we had a blast with the dholki and singing traditional punjabi songs. Of course all this was also telecast on zoom for my family that wasnt there. His aunt did my haldi and put mehendi for me on my hands and feet.

I felt so touched, that everyone throughout this wedding had gone out of their way to make me feel special. I wouldn't have it any other way :)

What a great way to start the day! Remember that we have new stories every day, so make sure to join us tomorrow for more.

So, wait no more, hit the play icon below, and enjoy today's film!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Nikhil and I met 10 years before we got married, at Wayne State University, in the heart of Detroit. We were neighbors in the dorm and first met on the elevator. I noticed Nikhil was carrying a biology lab book and mentioned that I need to buy one of those too, and he immediately offered me his, and said that he had an extra one. I stepped in his room to grab the book and was so impressed with how clean he kept his room, and that's when I knew he was the one! Haha just kidding! We quickly became best friends and spent so much time together between our classes, studying, and doing homework. We danced together on the Wayne State Raas team, ate countless meals together at the dining halls, and ignited a passion for traveling during our long walks around the city.

Nikhil has been my personal hype man and always encouraged and supported me throughout my years of medical training. He stands by my side and empowers me to be the absolute best version of myself. Whenever I'm with Nikhil, we laugh until our bellies hurt, I forget all of my worries, and seeing him makes my soul light up.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
We went to Thailand in June 2018. It was a medical school graduation gift to me from Nikhil. He told me we had to go to Thailand and nowhere else because there were elephants there and of course how could I say anything but yes to that! After all, elephants are my favorite animal and it has always been a dream of mine to meet one of these majestic beasts.

It was exactly halfway through our trip. June 6th, 2018. We woke up super early and got ready just like every other day so far on the trip. But this day was different. This was the day I would get to spend the day playing with elephants and taking care of them! I was ecstatic to say the least.

I couldn't figure out the perfect outfit to wear, so he gave me one of his sweaters to wear. Luckily I got my nails done the night before because I insisted that my nails needed to look cute for the elephants! We got to the elephant sanctuary and I didn't realize a group of wild animals could make me this happy. Little did I know, I was about to become exponentially happier.

I was playing with two baby elephants when I heard "hey Navya..." I turned around and saw Nikhil down on one knee. I didn't really hear anything else he said after that (don't worry we have it captured on video). Of course I said yes and we shared the rest of our day with those glorious beasts that were part of the proposal.

We called our family that evening and I found out that Nikhil went to my parents house before our trip to ask their permission to marry me! He made sure I was out of the house by asking me to go shopping for our trip and he knew this would keep me out of the house for a few hours. Haha he knows me so well!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
We wanted a very simple and elegant wedding ceremony so we could keep the focus on the main event of the day- getting married! We designed a custom monogram/logo together and had a custom vinyl runner made with it. We also had take away bags printed with this monogram.

We all know Indian wedding ceremonies can be long, so we made a fun wedding program with a crossword puzzle on it. The clues were questions about Nikhil and I and all of our guests had so much fun figuring out the answers!

Nikhil and I collect ornaments from each new place we visit, so we wanted to give our wedding guests a Detroit ornament to commemorate the beginning of our journey! City Bird had the best wooden ornaments custom made for us and they were the perfect take away gift!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
Nikhil and I went to India and went to countless stores to try on all the dresses! Each dress I wore, Nikhil would ask me how I felt in it and then he would tell me if he liked the dress or not. I had no idea what color dress I wanted, but I was definitely leaning towards a lighter color- because I love all things light, bright and airy! However, every time I tried on a light colored lengha, I was not impressed and did not feel special. I realized that I loved the way jewel tones looked on me and shifted my entire focus for the dress search. After several days of not finding "the one," I finally found a store that had the fabric types and dress styles that I loved. I tried on THE dress and immediately fell in love with it, and so did Nikhil!

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Right after we got engaged, I moved across the country and started my medical residency. Busy with work and living in another state made wedding planning a bit of a challenge but my sweet husband made the entire process a breeze for me. Although we were only able to see each other a handful of times over that year, we became closer than ever!

I spent my evenings planning and designing each event, and then I would convey my thoughts to Nikhil over a phone call. I would find a list of vendors that I thought would be suitable for us, and Nikhil would set up meetings and go to visit each one of them, and facetime me each time. He coordinated with both of our families, arranged all the taste testings, vendor meetings, and went to every meeting prepared with a document with all of the details I asked for.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
To this day, over one year later, our guests continue to talk about the food at our wedding. We couldn't be happier because food is what makes both of us the happiest, so we are so pleased that our family and friends thought that the food at our wedding was as great as we hoped it would be.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Although we planned to do a first look, we didn't have the chance to do one. The first time we saw each other was at the mandap, and I will never forget the look on Nikhil's face when he saw me. That was the moment that we both realized that we finally get to marry each other and we were so excited.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
The mehendi was an intimate event with close friends and family hosted in our parents backyard. My decor inspiration came from the handwritten notes that Nikhil would fold into origami paper cranes and give to me back in college. I showed him my vision and he and his family hand made hundreds of paper cranes to make it come to life!

We wanted the sangeet to be all about dancing and food, so we had a very colorful and dance oriented street fair themed event. We really wanted authentic Indian street vendor style food and Taste of India Suvai made our wishes come true with live food stations. Our guests spent the entire night dancing away and snuck away to the outdoor food stations whenever they had the chance.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Have fun planning and enjoy the whole process, it'll be over before you know it! Don't stress about the little things and keep your eye on the big picture because no one will know about those little details except for you! Pick vendors that you can get along with and communication is key!

It can be hard with Indian weddings to plan everything the way you want it, because traditions, culture, and family is such a big part of it. But, find a way to make your vision work while keeping those things in mind. Work with your family to see how you can incorporate your flair while keeping in mind some of the more traditional elements.

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
Thank you to all of our vendors who made our wedding weekend so special and memorable!

We hope you've loved this story as much as we did! Don't forget to join us tomorrow for more.

Somerset, NJ Indian Wedding by Regal Palette Studio

Happy Monday, ladies! Let's start this week with an extra boost of inspiration by taking a look at the blockbuster film by Regal Palette Studio, showcasing Radha & Kishan's big wedding celebration! This time around, we are bringing you inside the halls of The Marigold to join these lovebirds in their magical journey into a happily ever after. And believe us, you are going to enjoy this marvelous celebration to the fullest. The entire wedding bash was orchestrated by Pearl Events & Co., who took care of the planning and execution of all events while Nirali Decor crafted a marvelous decor to die for! This winning combination resulted in a spectacular event like no other we've seen in quite a while! From the outdoor photoshoot to the grand reception party enlivened by Powerhouse DJs, everything was beautiful beyond words. But nothing compared to the jaw-dropping look of our gorgeous Maharani Radha after being pampered by Cinderella Bridez and Luxey Looks Beauty. And we cannot talk about her spectacular look without mentioning the striking Mehndi design by Mehndikalogie. It was an absolute masterpiece! Ladies, if you want to check more of this grand event, wait no more and hit the play icon below. We are sure you will get tons of inspiring ideas from it!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Kishan and I met multiple times throughout our childhood, without ever knowing it. We then officially met at a wedding in Cleveland where he asked me to be his dandiya partner when I was only 9 years old. We unfortunately went out seperate ways until we met again years later on Facebook, where we reconnected. I lived in Ohio and he lived in Maryland at the time. We met halfway in West Virginia when I was 19 and the rest was history. After 7 years of long distance I moved the Maryland and we finally got married!

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
It was the week of my 26th birthday, I was supposed to leave to go see him on Saturday. But I spent the Friday with my little sister, priya, who every year blindfolds me and surprises me with a fun filled day. I didn’t think anything of it. She asked me to get dressed because she was going to take me to a new restaurant that was super fancy. So I got dressed, she blindfolded me and we left. However when we got to the “restaurant” she took off the blindfold and there he was, the man of my dreams on one knee with a purple runner and lights on an airport runway with a helicopter behind him. After all these years he still managed to surprise me. I was in shock and literally couldn’t move. But I eventually said YES!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
As every girl does, I have always dreamt of what my wedding day would look like. I knew what was most important to Kishan and I was convenience for our guests. Because most of our family and friends live in New Jersey we decided to have our wedding there. Next was finding a venue that provided shuttle service to a nearby hotel so people wouldn't have to worry about driving. Once we found the venue, came the guest list. The hardest part of any indian wedding is the guest list. We managed to make it work and the rest was easy. We both had sisters that married a few years ago, so we used the same vendors as they did. We loved our vendors. We felt like we had known them our entire life. They made the process fun and stress free. We are blessed that we got to take a trip to India to do our wedding shopping. My wedding outfit came from Asov Palav. I originally did not want a red lehnga. I wanted a non traditional outfit. But as soon as I tried the red lehnga on, I fell in love. I knew it was the one. As for the decor, Nirali decor was extremely patient with me because I was so indecisive. She made my dream into a reality. Purple is not only my favorite color, but my late grandfather's favorite color as well. Which is why I incorporated different shades of Purple throughout the wedding Decor. My overall experience was pleasant. There will always be a few bumps in the road, but just remember all that matters is that you get to marry your best friend and the man you love. There will be things that are beyond our control, but it will all work out. My best advice, don't stress the things you can't control.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I knew I wanted to get my wedding outfit from Asav Palav before I went to India. I wanted a non-traditional wedding dress. However, as soon as I tried on the first dress that happened to be red, I fell absolutely in love.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Food tasting! My husband and I are Foodies. We loved trying different items and working with our vendors to find the perfect items for our guests. The professionalism of all of our vendors made the process less stressful and for us more enjoyable!

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Our guests loved how involved Kishan and I were with meeting everyone. They were shocked by how relaxed we were and how much fun we were having. Everyone knew that what was most important to us was the union of both families and having a great time! We are so happy our guests had such a good time!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
The most special moment that I will always remember is my husband and his groomsmen surprising me with a dance that I don't think anyone will forget. It was so thoughtful and he captured the attention of all the guests with his amazing speech.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
Our Garba night was all Radha Kishan themed. Nirali decor helped us create a night that was filled with colors and greenery throughout the venue. The life size tree with hanging candle and lanterns was eye capturing. Kishan and I love to dance, so we wanted to surprise our guests with Radha Kishan themed songs for our performance.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Start with a budget. Don't stress yourself out about the things you can't control. Be sure to not let the stress get the best of you. You are going to have an amazing day no matter what happens. The energy of the Bride and Groom will drive the energy of your guests! So when your wedding week begins, let go of all the stress and get LIT!

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
Mehndi Kalogie was very punctual and professional. My artist did an amazing job for my family, friends, and my Bridal Henna. She was so sweet and I'm very happy I went with her as my choice as a vendor. Bhargavi from Cinderella Brides is not only an artist but a necessity on your wedding day, she made me feel and look like a queen. Luxey looks by Ami and Linda worked wonders on my friends and family. They were very easy and flexible to work with. Without Pearl events, this day would not have gone as smooth as it did. Thank you for executing every detail to perfection. Thank you to our caterer, Bhukhara Grill. Vicky did an amazing job with all of the food, our guests are still talking about it. DJ Vik and his team from Powerhouse DJ's helped us create our mixes for our dances and made sure all the guests were on their feet the entire night. Nirali decor slayed the decorations for all events. They were so kind and patient with us in selecting our decor. The Marigold was the perfect venue for us! Dave from the Marigold answered our calls and emails immediately and always answered all of our questions whenever we had any. Last, but not the least Regal Palette. They took the time to get to know us on a personal level, and listened to everything we wanted. From the engagement shoot to the wedding video, they captured every moment, every reaction, every laugh, and every cry. I am so happy we chose the vendors we did! Thank you to all the vendors for making our wedding weekend one we will never forget!

Enjoy the rest of your day, ladies! And don't forget to join us tomorrow for more.
