Cancun, Mexico Indian Wedding by Mari Harsan Studios

Good morning, Maharanis! The week is almost over, and we are here to give you the inspiration that you need. Today, we are double featuring this fabulous event. You can enjoy a marvelous photo gallery created by Regeti's Photography, and on this installment, we are presenting the visual masterpiece created by the talented team from Mari Harsan Studios. Are you ready to be enchanted by this story? I bet you do! So let's go to the magical lands Cancun in Mexico, in the company of the best travel concierge: Indian Destination Weddings, to admire all the beauty that surrounded Shruthi & Anuj's wedding festivities. Dream Shaadi surprised us again with a perfectly trimmed and planned wedding. And let me tell you that all guests enjoyed every single part of this mesmerizing event. There were so much beauty and charm al over the place, but it was our gorgeous Maharani who stole the whole show, dazzling everyone with her innate beauty. She trusted her beauty needs to the talent of Styles By Swati - Salon SBS, who made sure to deliver nothing less than perfection. For the reception, The Grand at Moon Palace lighted up with the phenomenal beats from DynastyAV, who turned this gala into an epic party. Click the play icon down below to relive this unique wedding!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Anuj and Shruthi met on December 31, 2011 when Anuj's sister, Megha, invited Shruthi to their house for a New Year's Eve Party. Anuj, thinking he was too cool for his sister's friends, said hi to everyone, and went to go hang out with his own friends that night. When he returned later that night, he noticed Shruthi again, and looked at his friend Akhil and said "Dude, I think that girl is cute, what do you think?" After Akhil's encouragement, Anuj got the courage to say hi to her. Her immediate response was "Hey Megha's brother!" Anuj couldn't handle such dejection and walked away, thus ending their first encounter.

Jumping to a few years later (circa Spring 2013), Anuj was now a young working professional while Shruthi was a hard working student at VCU. Finally making a salary, Anuj decided to drive down to Richmond and “make it rain” on a college campus. As anticipated, Megha couldn't wait to see her loving, favorite brother, and decided to throw what was later coined as a "MeghaRager". There, Anuj met Shruthi again, but thought too highly of himself and assumed Shruthi and everyone else would be worshiping the ground he walked on. Shruthi, similar to the first interaction, did not acknowledge his existence. Unlike the previous time, Anuj was having too good of a time to care, and again they again went their separate ways.

Fast-forward to May 2015 when Anuj's cousin, Ayesha, was graduating from VCU. Unbeknownst to Anuj, Shruthi was also graduating at this same time. At this point, Anuj had forgotten about Shruthi and moved on to bigger and better things (or so he convinced himself). Once the post-graduation celebrations began, Anuj met Shruthi’s sister, Laya. Being two of the older people in the group, they passed the time talking about how things have changed in college since they graduated. Once again, Shruthi and Anuj interacted very little, but like a gentleman he offered his jacket to her when she was cold, which she wore all night. Anuj hoped to see her again the next day, but she was gone and Shruthi had simply left the jacket on the railing of the staircase along with his crushed hopes and dreams. A few days later they began texting each other talking about the graduation weekend and Shruthi’s post-graduation plans. Shruthi thought it was just an innocent conversation... after all he was just Megha’s older brother at the time. As the conversation continued and progressed, she found it very easy to talk to him and found herself laughing at all of his jokes. Then, she suddenly started to get the feeling that there may be a spark between the two of them.

Our next time hop will only be a few weeks later to end the of May when Shruthi and Anuj (now both interested in each other but too afraid to say it directly) met at a mutual friend, Sunna’s, graduation party. Luckily for Anuj, this party was in Anuj's 2nd home, Diya Restaurant. (contact Rahul & Ajay Arora for all your catering needs) With the confidence of familiar terrain, Anuj wasn't nearly as nervous as Shruthi. They awkwardly said hi while also doing their best to avoid each other; as the night progressed, they knew they couldn't keep ignoring each other and finally gathered the courage to say something. Anuj, mustering up the confidence to make the first move (obviously with his mouth full of butter chicken), used his Diya connections to impress Shruthi with a plate of her favorite dessert, gulab jamun, adding casually that he liked her. Shruthi was taken aback at first, but eventually told Anuj that she liked him as well. A few weeks later, Anuj decided to make it official by surprising Shruthi with a glass Coke bottle (her favorite) that was personalized to say, “Be my girlfriend?” Shruthi, now having been swept her off her feet twice, excitingly said "Yes!" and so it began...

Since then, their relationship has gone through a lot of tests. Those challenges eventually grew as distance started to play a significant role with Shruthi moving from Virginia to New York City, back to Virginia, then Pittsburgh, and finally settling in Philadelphia. Let’s not forget Anuj’s equal sacrifice of going from DC to Tysons Corner.  But as true of the connection between and Anuj and Shruthi a few (hundred) miles haven’t gotten in the way of this blossoming love. They've stood by each other every day, successfully facing whatever life has thrown at them, and can't wait to embark on their next chapter together as husband and wife!

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
After receiving all the blessings and well wishes from his and Shruthi's families, Anuj couldn't wait to put his proposal plan into action. He had booked an Escape Room outing in DC for the two of them (where the final clue was going to be the proposal) and was planning a post proposal party with their close family and friends afterwards to celebrate.

Until...

Shruthi one day non-nonchalantly mentioned that her company was sending her to Bologna, Italy for a week-long conference and how she was going to spend an extra day in Venice before coming back. Immediately an idea started to form... what if Anuj proposed in Venice instead? The Bagai house went in full lockdown mode as there were only 2 weeks to plan a proposal (not to mention, Anuj was in NYC for a week for work). The flight was booked, Shruthi's parents and siblings were on board, and the wheels started to turn. Due to the time difference, Anuj and his older brother, Sumeet, were talking to companies in Venice in the early morning hours to see how to pull off a proposal Shruthi would surely never forget.

Shruthi did not make it any easier on Anuj. He had to tell her he was going out for the night and his phone was going to die so he could go on a 14 hour flight undetected. The night before the proposal she kept FaceTiming him to see his face (who can blame her there?), but he had to keep ignoring her calls since he was already in the streets of Venice by then. He even had his colleague/acquaintance/friend Vishal send him a picture from work that Anuj then sent to her to convince her that they were still in the office working late.

As the morning of the proposal approached Anuj was anxiously awaiting Shruthi's arrival to the surprise proposal point. Due to the time difference, he was unable to find out if had she made it to Venice since it was only 4 AM EST and he couldn’t text her without tipping her off. Anuj was so stressed that he checked out of his hotel room 3 hours early and stayed on the same corner of the same street in fear of running into her in Venice. All his hard efforts paid off when finally...

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Our planning process was made a lot smoother due to the success of our wedding planning who is also our older brother. We are so thankful for all of his support and would not have been able to pull off our dream wedding without Dream Shaadi.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
As a Malayali bride I always knew I wanted to wear a Kerala cream colored outfit, but as a fusion destination wedding I wanted to combine our north Indian and south Indian cultures. I wore a custom made ivory and maroon silk gotapatti lehenga made by Nazranaa. I absolutely loved it!

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part of our planning process was the creative details that may have gone unnoticed to some but was fun for us to put together. (i.e. logo, hashtags, newsletters, welcome bags, wedding favors, t-shirts etc.)

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Our guest loved the fireworks we had at our post wedding event.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
I most memorable parts of our wedding that keep replaying in my mind are obviously walking down the aisle at the wedding ceremony as well as seeing our guests reaction when the fireworks went off. It was a surprise to all of our guests including our immediate family.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
We tried to keep a reoccurring color scheme at each event and really took advantage of all the outdoor spaces available at the Grand at Moon Palace Resort to give our guests the ultimate destination wedding experience. The Post-wedding dinner party after our wedding ceremony is still the most talked about/memorable event for us and many of our guests.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Marry a man that makes you laugh and is willing to do anything to make you happy. The rest will all fall into place. Keep reminding yourself this even in the most stressful moments.

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
We loved all our vendors and could not have pulled off our dream wedding without them. We're also thankful for all our family and friends that helped throughout the process.

To relive more love stories like this one, don't forget to visit us tomorrow! We have something special prepared just for you.

She delivered natural beauty and dazzled everyone, thanks to the marvelous talent of Suzanne Morel Face and Body Care, who took care of her beauty needs. Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
During my fourth year of dental school, Indy and I planned an impromptu trip to Paris. I spent a lot of time planning out the whole trip with Indy, little did I know he already had it all planned out! Our first morning in Paris, we went to Montmartre, my favorite part of Paris. It was a bit of a gloomy morning but Indy insisted we go anyway. Once we were there, Indy proposed in a garden in front of The Wall of Love and had a photographer waiting there to capture the moment! She captured the entire proposal as well as the snow flurries that begun falling immediately after he proposed! We spent the next 5 days enjoying everything that Paris has to offer.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
I could not have planned this wedding without the help of our wedding planner, Therese (Electric Karma), and our families! It truly was a team effort with each member of our family playing a big part. After visiting Cabo with my parents and Therese, we immediately chose Paradisus Los Cabos as our venue. Once the venue was in place, Therese guided us in picking all of the vendors, most of which she knew personally. We got lucky with the most incredible group of vendors who we worked with closely over the course of one year to plan all of the details.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part was the amount of time that Indy and I spent talking to our parents and sisters and bouncing ideas off each other throughout the year. I felt that both of our families really bonded through the wedding planning process. The brunches, family "meetings" and phone calls made the planning process fun! Especially because Indy and I lived in New York and Boston, respectively, for half of the planning process, so it was nice being in touch with our family in Texas.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
The guests loved how much detail went around planning four days of events. It is very rare for an Indian wedding to stick to a schedule, but we were able to make it work! We had our wedding in Cabo San Lucas at the Paradisus Los Cabos resort, a relatively small resort which means our wedding took over the majority of rooms with all ~240 guests staying there. We had beautiful weather the whole week and Cabo is such a breathtaking place to spend time with friends and family before getting married! Everyone was in vacation-mode and had plenty of energy for the four days of fun that we had planned! Guests also had plenty of time each day to enjoy the resort, beach and the town since we had the Sangeet, Wedding Ceremony, and Reception each on a separate day.

Everyone also loved the food! The resort had a variety of great sit-down restaurants and we were lucky to have Chef Gaurav Anand fly in from New York City to cater our wedding! He curated a wonderful menu of Indian, Mexican, and International dishes for the Sangeet, Wedding Day, Cocktail hour and Reception. He put together an incredible plated Indian dinner for our reception which was the one thing I really wanted all along!!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
I just keep dreaming about the whole week of countless amazing memories! We truly had the best week of our lives in paradise with all of our family and friends. We're already planning a reunion trip!

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
There are so many aspects to planning a wedding that I never even thought of before this whole process. Having a knowledgable wedding planner, such as Therese, who has done this almost 1,000 times (literally!) really helped us achieve everything we wanted! Without her knowledge and experience, we would have been overwhelmed, especially since we chose to do a destination wedding.

If you were inspired today, wait to see what we have prepared just for you tomorrow. So stay tuned!

The exclusive Sri Sathya Sai Baba Centre of Scarborough hosted the spectacular ceremony, where every guest enjoyed the magical aura surrounding this life-changing event. Once the ceremony concluded, everyone attended the wedding reception hosted at Scarborough Convention Centre, a perfect venue for a magical celebration. Two different families gather to celebrate their favorites on an unforgettable night. And before we end this feature, we want to take a moment to admire Sangeeta's look, who dazzled everyone with such a royal look! And who was the mastermind behind this ravishing look? It was none other than Khalisah who designed a jaw-dropping hairstyle and makeup. To relive this moment, go ahead and click on the play icon below. We are sure you are going to have a great time!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Believe it or not, my father introduced me to him while we were at the temple! I knew he was the one during our second date when we spent an entire evening drinking herbal tea, listening to music and just sharing our life stories with each other. He was just so easy to talk to and I felt like I've known him my whole life.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
He told me to get dressed up and meet him downtown to go to his office Christmas party. When I arrived at his place, I walked in to see rose petals, candles and fairy lights beautifully decorating the entire living room and then he got down on one knee and said "I love you" for the very first time and asked me to marry him. I was so shocked that I almost forgot to say yes!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
I had a very clear idea of what I wanted since I had an entire Pinterest board dedicated to my dream wedding for years. My husband and I made most of our decisions quite quickly because we knew what we liked and we were very aligned in our vision. We only met with each of our vendors about 2-3 times and had all the details confirmed.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I knew exactly what colours I wanted but I decided to try different styles and colours to open up my options. I tried on many bridal lenghas at different stores all over Toronto but then I ended up getting my outfits over a video call at 3am while my dad was in India shopping around for me. I watched the store attendants try on outfits for me. In under an hour, I had outfits for my wedding and reception!

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part of wedding planning was food tasting! Food is one of the most important parts of the wedding and we wanted to ensure our all-vegetarian menu was a hit! Being able to explore different dishes and customize our options was really fun and delicious.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
That's a tough one, I've heard so much great feedback from our friends and family. I think one thing that everyone said was that they had a blast at the reception because the music was really good. And I couldn't agree more! The dance floor was packed from beginning to end. Koodos to our DJ!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
The moment I sat down next to husband at our wedding ceremony definitely stands out. I was so anxious and stressed out until that moment. But when I sat next to him, he made a joke about me taking forever to get ready and I laughed and all the stressed melted away.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
My family all flew in from Trinidad, India, New Jersey and Florida for the wedding. The maticoor night which was the night before the wedding, was really special because it was an intimate event with just my closest family and friends. Everyone pitched in: my mom and aunts spent the entire day cooking all the delicious Trinidadian food, my cousins rehearsed our dance for the reception and my best friend helped me oversee my uncles decorating the entire house and setting up the stage. It was truly a special day.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
There will always be a reason to stress out, there is always something that doesn't work out the way you planned, but at the end of the day, it's important to share the happy moments with those around you and cherish these memories. This is a happy time in your life! Be present, be happy and show gratitude to those around you that are sharing in your moments.

We hope you enjoyed this time as much as we did. And this is not it, as we have more for you. So visit us tomorrow for more.

Cancun, MX Indian Wedding by Mike Cantarell Films

A new filmy time is here! We are beginning this week by reliving Sonam & Herman's wedding celebrations. Thanks to the magnificent talent from Jonathan Cossu Photographer, we previously showed you details from this fantastic event. Today you can be fully-inspired by a tremendous and emotive film prepared by Mike Cantarell Films. We are heading to Cancun Mexico, where the Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres Resort & Spa was selected by our lovebirds to host their wedding festivities. First of all, let me warn you that you might lose your breath away due to the magnificent look of our beautiful Maharani. She dazzled us during the entire festivities with the impeccable style provided by Alex Corbanezi Beauty, who took care of Sonam's beauty needs. As you can see in the video below, a piece of India was carried to the fantastic beaches of Cancun thanks to Shaadi Destinations, the expert Travel Concierge who assisted the couple during their stay. Every detail decorated by Grupo Gama reminds us of the Indian traditions just as Raja Herman stated: "Cancun finally sees the greatest Indian wedding of all times." Everyone had a blast weekend enjoying every single moment from this unforgettable wedding. Click play and relive this amazing bash. You can also visit the photo gallery here!

ow did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
I met Herman on Halloween, in a bar in the middle of New York City, dressed up as a witch. He was dressed up in a Totoro onesie. For those of you that don't know, Totoro is a Japanese anime character that I just happened to watch religiously growing up. The rest is history.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Herman proposed to me on the beach in April 2018. He told me we were going to an engagement party, and while we were on the way he insisted on stopping off at a nearby beach to enjoy the view. When I got out of the car, I saw the most incredible set-up right there next to the water. There was champagne, a wooden arch with photos of all the memories we had made so far, flowers, and everything else I could've ever wanted. It was really something to see.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The best part of the planning process was the chance to make the events something that was truly our style. We got married in Cancun, Mexico, so we already had a destination wedding going for us. We really wanted our guests to enjoy every part of the wedding because at the end of the day, it was a vacation for them too. We scheduled out events in a way that there was one free day for guests to do as they pleased during the 3 day event period. We scheduled a massive all-day pool party for the guests (and us!) to fully unwind and have fun in an informal setting. Our guests could not stop talking about it!

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
A piece of advice that many married couples gave us before our big day was to not let anything get in the way of our happiness and our enjoyment of all the events. Being the bride and groom, it is inevitable to be stressed about things going wrong, but it's so important to remember that you are getting married to the love of your life and you should be present to fully enjoy that. You shouldn't worry about the things that can go wrong, because things will go wrong. You should go into your wedding week with the mindset that nothing will ruin this time for you both, and to make the most of every moment because it goes by so quick.

I hope you enjoyed this lovely destination wedding as much as I did! See ya, ladies.
