San Diego, CA Indian Fusion Wedding by Peter Nguyen Studio

Today we add one more spectacular wedding to our pages and couldn't be more excited! Peter Nguyen Studio seamlessly captured all the emotions and sentiments of Pavitraa and Matt and put it into an elegant and artistic film you are about to see! This authentic and memorable celebration was flawlessly planned and executed by SD Weddings by Gina at the beautiful Hilton Bayfront San Diego. The stunning waterfront plaza ceremony had a beautiful display of the union of two cultures under a mandap that embraced shades of blue and blush created by the genius decorators of Kismet Event Design. The high-end reception had the extraordinary culinary touch of Mantra Indian Cuisine who created an elaborate and exquisite menu for this memorable night. Pavitraa’s impeccable taste and wedding style was echoed in a bespoke gown that fused both cultures; “a beautiful silk ivory gown with Indian embroidery and a delicate dupatta that mimic’d a veil.” What a bombshell she was! Unveil the most romantic western-Indian fusion wedding below!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?

Matt and I met on Match.com. We spent a few weeks texting back and forth and decided to meet for happy hour. I think we both knew there was great chemistry as we spent 4.5 hours talking about your life, jobs, families, and everything in between. Matt was my first and only date on Match.com so I’m fortunate that online dating brought this perfect man to me.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
I’ve never wanted a big over-the-top proposal. All I ever wanted is to have family around when it happened. Well, I never told Matt this but somehow he knew (I told you, he’s perfect!). We were celebrating Matt’s birthday that weekend and as a surprise to me, he called my sister and brother in law to visit us. The night before his birthday party, the four of us went out to dinner at my favorite restaurant in Scottsdale, Sassi. Once we were all seated, Matt told me that he had another surprise for me. After seeing my sister and brother in law, I, of course, said: “are mom and dad here too?” (As I looked around the restaurant). By that time Matt was on one knee and asking me to marry him. It was the perfect most unforgettable evening.

Matt’s birthday party ended up turning into more of an engagement party for us but it was still a spectacular weekend!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
From the onset of planning the wedding, I wanted to make sure I was incorporating both cultures (Indian and western) and both religions (Hindu and Christian).

Being born and raised in San Diego, I always wanted to get married by the water. Luckily, Matt loves San Diego so it was an easy choice. My dad recommended the Hilton Bayfront and it was love at first sight. The venue was perfect for the events that we wanted to incorporate and the staff was great to work with. I wanted the decor to be simple but elegant - shades of blue and some pops of blush. My bridesmaids wore beautiful shalwar kameezs and the groomsmen sported dapper tuxedos.

After my dad walked me down the aisle, the Hindu Pandit led us through portions of the Hindu wedding during the first part of our ceremony - which included a Ganesh puja, garland exchange, and saptapadi. We then transitioned to the Christian part of the ceremony, officiated by our friend Brett, - which included a Bible reading, vow exchange, and ring exchange. I wanted to have a fusion of the ceremonies rather than having multiple ceremonies.

Being on time is something that I and my family take pretty seriously and I had an amazing wedding planner who kept us on schedule the entire day. I think by the time the reception started, we were only 20 minutes behind!!

We are so grateful to my parents who gave us such a beautiful and memorable wedding day and we can’t thank them enough for it.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I worked with one of my family friends to design my wedding dress. My vision to fuse both cultures came to reality as my dress was a beautiful silk ivory gown with Indian embroidery and a dupatta that mimic’d a Veil. Continuing with the blue color scheme, I chose navy blue and gold embroidery and work. I wore the same gown for the reception party but removed the dupatta so I would be more comfortable dancing the night away.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part of the process was seeing it all come together in the last week - it was so rewarding. Wedding planning IS stressful but it’s all worth it in the end. We had family and friends fly-in a few days early to spend time on any last minute planning and to just celebrate our big day. My favorite part was knowing that the work we had all put into this big day was all coming together!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
This is a hard one - there are so many special moments from that day! Prior to our wedding, one of our friends told us to “remember to take a moment, just the two of you, to soak it all in.” During the cocktail hour when our guests were finding their tables for dinner, Matt and I were sitting in another room. We had about 10 minutes to ourselves for the first time that day before we made our grand entrance as husband and wife. We talked about how grateful we were that everyone in the ballroom next door was here for us and to celebrate our love. It’s not every day you get to have all your special and loved ones in one room. It was also an opportunity for us to soak in the fact that we had just gotten married and that it was truly one of the happiest days of our life (I get a huge smile on my face thinking about those ten special minutes).

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
We could talk on and on about this day because it was one of the best days of our lives. We still feel like it was all a dream and the best dream, at that. We’re so thankful to our wonderful and accommodating vendors who made this day so special and customized for us.

Enjoy your day ladies and remember to visit us again tomorrow!

Riviera Maya, Mexico Indian Fusion Wedding by Dean Sanderson Weddings

Happy Valentine’s Day Maharanis! On this wonderful holiday, we’ve brought you an extra special wedding film filled with hearts, roses, and an adorable couple. Khomarie and Saieid’s wedding feature compelled us to pause multiple times while viewing, in order to take a closer look at each lovely moment captured by Dean Sanderson Photography. The effort this couple put into blending various elements of their diverse Hindu and Muslim backgrounds clearly showed. The combination of the rich traditions, picturesque locale, and plenty of glitter and glam resulted in one sensational soiree! A clear highlight was definitely Khomarie’s bridal outfits, featuring oodles of sparkling details and accessorized with layers of royal jewels. Bridal Rang by Samiha dolled Khomarie up for each of her events, and she looked absolutely ethereal throughout the proceedings. After traditional Hindu and Muslim ceremonies, the couple and their guests were all set to party the night away at the Hard Rock Riviera Maya. We were head over heels for the gold draping and abundance of luminous lighting created by Latin Asia. It was truly the perfect mix of elegant, chic, and modern. Please click play to watch the magical moments from this elegant fete!

Saieid and I went to Orlando, Florida for our good friends' wedding weekend. We decided to extend our stay and make a little mini vacation out of our time away. I am a Disney fanatic, so there was no way we were going to Florida and not visiting Disney World. Beforehand Saieid planned out an itinerary including Universal Studios and Disney and I was so excited! We spent a fun filled day in Magic Kingdom and right before we left he insisted that we take some selfies next to Cinderella's castle. We took our selfies and out of nowhere Saieid got on one knee, I was so surprised, excited and speechless. It was indeed a "fairy tale " proposal in the most magical place in the world.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.

When people hear "destination wedding" they think oh it must be easy. Planning a traditional Indian wedding away from home was very hard but very doable. Hard Rock was very accommodating to everything I needed. But unlike most weddings planned away I had 3 ceremonies and a reception; so it required a lot of attention. I made sure to go through every single last detail several times and ended up traveling with 14 suitcases to make sure we had every element needed to perform a traditional Indian wedding.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?

Choosing my outfits were one of the hardest things I did in planning! I wanted to be different but its hard to be different when your following traditions. Finding a different red lengha and a different white dress was a challenge. For my reception dress, I just couldn't decide whether to get a fitted dress or a princess dress. I always imagined having a big poofy dress but I also loved the way a fitted dress looked. So i got both! The dress I wore was by YSA Makino and came fitted with a princess overlay skirt. So I got the best of both worlds.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?

For many of my guests this was the first time they were attending a destination wedding so they didn't know what to expect. I tried my best to keep the entire wedding traditional even though it was away from home. We had 160 + guest attend our wedding and they were all so thrilled with the experience. I think people loved the fact that they were on a vacation and attending a wedding at the same time. Everyone was so relaxed, didn't have to worry about driving anywhere, cooking or cleaning. Just came to entirely unwind and attend a wedding.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?

Prior brides used to tell me all the time, enjoy planning because when it's done you're going to miss it. My advice to future brides to be is... enjoy planning because when its done you're going to miss it! While planning, I thought how in the world could you miss something this hard!? But the truth is it should be enjoyable and when it's all done all you have to look back on is memories and you also will never know what to do with all the extra time you'll have! Soak every moment in, focus on you and your fiance and making yourself happy. Don't stress too much about being " different." Indeed everyone has their own unique ways on doing things but it's extremely hard to be different when a standard traditional wedding asks of certain colors, themes and ideas. HAVE FUN!

Have a wonderful Valentine's Day Maharanis! Make sure to read up on our Platinum Guide Feature today, where we've highlighted a sensational 50th anniversary party!

Description of the Day:

When Vivek proposed to me in Thailand, his mother, two sisters and I began planning our perfect wedding THAT EVENING! I knew immediately that I wanted to have a predominantly Hindu wedding incorporating a few important American customs. Every part of wedding planning was amazing.  From choosing the decor to shopping for the most beautiful Indian clothing, I was in awe. The Sangeet was a blast. I never imagined that I would be part of an Indian performance let alone performing in front of so many people. The next morning, our wedding day finally arrived! Everyone kept asking me if I was nervous. I expected to be nervous, but surpassingly was not. I couldn't wait to marry the man of my dreams! Our morning started out with all of the girls in the family getting ready in the bridal suite. This was very special to me because I was able to begin this journey with my sisters and cousins as well as my newly acquired family members. When it was time for the baraat, I was able to get a peek as it arrived at the hotel. My heart began racing as the ceremony time approached.  My father walked me down the aisle. I had been telling Vivek for weeks that I was wearing American to the ceremony. I could see the look of surprise on his face as I walked toward him wearing a traditional red wedding lehenga as well as adorning solah shringar. Our wedding consisted of a hindu ceremony as well as ring and vow exchange. After we were pronounced husband and wife, it was time to start preparing for the reception. Our reception was absolutely more than I could have dreamed of. After dances, speeches, and a surprise Indian performance, we danced the night away with friends and family.

So adorable. We hope you loved the film Maharanis!
