The hair and makeup, done by Rasine Hamilton and Natalia Golding, were flawless, with bridal jewelry from Minerali being the perfect complement making Anjali look like a true Maharani. How did you meet your Groom, and when did you know he was "the one"?
My husband actually tried forming a connection with me on social media 3 years before we actually met for the first time, and I never accepted his friend requests. Perseverance is key. Eventually, we started chatting, and somehow it felt like I was speaking to an old friend from the first conversation. It almost felt as though our souls were old friends from the past. I just felt so comforted, happy, and sure. After a few weeks of chatting and then eventually meeting for the first time, I knew that he was my person.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Mohnesh proposed to me at my favorite restaurant in my hometown, Barbados. It is a beautiful rooftop restaurant, and a section of the restaurant was covered in roses, candles, and a marry me sign. It was absolutely stunning!!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
Well, I always knew that I wanted to be a traditional bride. There is nothing more beautiful to me than wearing red during the pheras. I wanted something sultry yet classic, traditional, and modest. I went to Bombay to do my shopping because I wanted to have that true Indian bridal experience in the showrooms, where I am able to touch and feel the fabrics, try on the outfits, and drink chai. I was having a hard time finding my outfit because everything I tried on didn’t feel like me or it was the one. I had an appointment at the Sabyasachi showroom in Kala Goda and saw my outfit hanging up there in the showroom, and I knew it was the one before I even put it on.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
The food, drinks, decor, music, and the overall vibes! It was a movie.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
I was very particular about the decor and color themes I wanted for each event. Shoutout to my wedding planner, Neetu Vaswani, for bringing everything to life with the various vendors. For the welcome dinner, it was a starry night under the Caribbean sky. With special features like an irregular truss entrance and hookah bar, it took my breath away when I saw it for the first time. For our mehndi, I wanted a Jaipur-type of look with bright colors, lanterns, and bean bags. For the sangeet, we had a peacock theme with lots of blue, purple, green, and gold. For the reception, I wanted a very clean look with whites and rose gold, and fresh flowers. Every event took my breath away, and my visions were carried out perfectly. A huge thank you to Tai Flora Luxe and the Hilton Rose Hall teams for working until the wee hours of the morning to execute everything seamlessly.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Drink as much champagne as you can. Joking, trying to enjoy the process, and being as level-headed as possible throughout all the madness. I know it’s stressful, but everything goes how it is meant to!

They captured every aspect of the couple's love story with style and grace. The festivities began with a vibrant sangeet at Deewan Banquet, where family and friends danced the night away. The following day, the couple exchanged vows at the Gurudwara Bridgewater, surrounded by their loved ones and adorned in stunning floral decor by Wedding Design. Ronica looked radiant, thanks to the talented Looks by Jassi, who created a natural makeup look that perfectly complemented her gorgeous bridal outfit. How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
We met on Dil mil- a dating app. On October 31, I was at the airport when I decided to message Amrit on the app with no hope in mind that I may receive a message back. A few hours later, I was at a family reunion when I received a notification from Amrit.
After a few weeks of messaging and talking on the phone, we decided that it was finally time to meet. After two dates, we realized we were inseparable. When they say you know, you know!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I always wanted something with florals and non-traditional. Red was always the traditional color and for me that was too bright, I preferred pastel colors. I got some recommendations from friends to check out Sajda in Edison, NJ. I walked into Sajda the first day I was doing outfit trials and I instantly fell in love with my ivory lengha with embroidered florals in every color. It was the first outfit I tried and I instantly told myself this is the one!

For the reception, I knew I wanted three things: classy. gown, and gold. From the moment we started outfit shopping, I always had an idea of the gold gown I wanted. It was a Sabyasachi gold gown that was simple yet very elegant. After trips to many stores and one month left till the big day, I ended up back at Sajda. I showed them the picture of what I envisioned. They had a gold lengha they transformed into a gown. It was absolutely gorgeous!

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Let's be real - planning a wedding is not fun! The amount of stress to make sure everything is perfect will drive you nuts! However, it taught us that we work well as a team.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Till this day (five months later), we are still receiving numerous compliments from friends and family about how organized and fun our wedding events were. They enjoyed how well versed and short the speeches were at the reception. However, they couldn't stop talking about how DELICIOUS the food was at the reception (which we did not try because we forgot to eat, haha)!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
There is no specific moment - everything about the wedding and events leading up to the wedding were very special! It was extremely special seeing everyone we love gather together and have a great time. No one wanted to stop dancing - even on the party bus to the after party! :)

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
For the Brides- To-Be:
Planning a wedding is probably a stressful time you and your family will go through. Enjoy every moment of it and try to be patient. There may be times (many times) where you may think things are not going as planned and you will not have your PERFECT day. Just remember, the result is spending the rest of your life with your best friend and that's all that matters. Make sure not to stress out the week of the wedding and enjoy every moment of it!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
A story is as old as time--boy and girl are introduced by family, they start talking, and six weeks into it, they find themselves embroiled in a global pandemic. With so much uncertainty and travel restrictions in place, they had to get creative to get to know each other. We bonded over our mutual interests in medicine and healthcare and their passion for sports; Harpreet with his love for football, Tom Brady, and the Patriots, and me with my love for baseball and basketball (most notably the Dodgers and Lakers).

In June 2021, Harpreet surprised me with a proposal at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort, and boy was I surprised! After much thought and planning, he coordinated with my family (especially my sister-in-law, Shagun) to get me down to San Diego and to the proposal. Thinking that we were headed to dinner to celebrate my brother Harpreet's graduation from a cardiology fellowship, I stumbled upon an intricately planned proposal. A sign with my name on it, hand-plucked rose petals leading to a waterfront picnic, adorned with floral arrangements made by Harpreet, and a charcuterie board. As I finally exited the car and followed the path of rose petals, Harpreet met me in the middle, rose in hand, and the rest is history!
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
With experience from being a part of planning for my brother's wedding, I had the groundwork for what vendors I had already known about. I knew that I wanted to try and do an outdoor Sikh ceremony, so the Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel was a perfect venue with a breathtaking backdrop. We had considered utilizing different venues for all of the events, but eventually just did everything in the same place for convenience. I had been following Dolled Up By Lulu on Instagram and always loved their looks, so I went with them. I wore a Seema Gujral Anarkali that we actually found online and got ordered. In terms of decor for the Wedding and Reception, I had always had an affinity for flowers, and we got blessed with Square Root Designs. I told them that I wanted an enchanted garden meets Monet, and they had carte blanche. It was a dream! Another key detail was the incorporation of Coke bottles at each place setting at the reception as a tribute to my paternal grandfather, who was the Director of Research & Development at Coca-Cola for many years. Getting 400 bottles of Coca-Cola turned out to be our biggest obstacle, but with the help of our family, we were able to secure them all!
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
My wedding outfit took a while, as I didn't really have any idea of what I wanted. We wandered Pioneer Blvd in Artesia and identified some good options. When we walked into Shyamal & Bhumika, we roamed through their options before my Dad saw a lengha on a mannequin that he insisted I try on. Everyone really loved how it looked and the embroidery on it, and they told us that it could be in any color we wanted. I ended up getting it made in almost a dusty pink rose color.
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
I think our guests really loved how ethereal everything turned out and how family-oriented everything was. Our goal was not to make every event a show. We wanted it to be organic and have the opportunity to meet everyone and thank them for coming. We wanted everyone to have fun, and we wanted to be a part of it instead of being guests at our own wedding!

Sourabh and I had been living on the Upper East Side of Manhattan for a few years, so Sourabh knew he wanted the proposal to take place somewhere in our neighborhood and chose to arrange for it at Carl Shurz park. When we set out that morning for what I thought thought was brunch with friends, I noticed it was a really cloudy day and actually commented to Sourabh saying "Boy, it'd be a terrible day to take pictures"! But as we stepped in the park, I knew brunch was not on the menu. Sourabh got down on one knee, while Ashley Fox captured the moment. It was the perfect New York morning!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
We chose to have the wedding in Cincinnati since that's where both of our families are from. When we started venue searching, Anderson Pavilion was the first venue we saw and we immediately fell in love with it. Anderson Pavilion had glass walls, incredible views of the Ohio River while nestled against the Cincinnati skyline, and it had a carousel! Our vision for the ceremony was based off the venue since it was set up for a ton of natural light so we opted for a bright, white, traditional décor with a boho touch. B3 Decor took our vision and executed beyond our wildest dreams.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
When Sourabh and I were planning our wedding, we knew that we wanted to make it a memorable experience for everyone involved. We had been together for eleven years and had grown up as a couple in front of our family and friends. So, we wanted to create an experience that not only celebrated our love, but also celebrated our guests.

We chose B3Events as our planning team and worked with their team member, Vini Desai. Vini was with us every step of the way and helped us create an experience that our guests still talk about. Our guests were also blown away by the decor that B3Events arranged.

The other memorable element for our guests was the food prepared by Taj Mahal from Pittsburgh. They pulled together an extensive menu full of variety which included chaat items for our sangeet, Aam panna to sip on during the ceremony, and a traditional Gujarati and Marathi lunch, complete with undhiyu, shrikhand, and poori!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Vini and the B3 team always made sure Sourabh and I had a private venue reveal before each event to see the decor, look at the set up, and just have a moment to ourselves. When we first walked into the sangeet, I remember my jaw dropping at the decor, the stunning lighting and realizing in that moment the we are finally here, the party starts now!

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.

For our reception, we opted for a "speakeasy" theme with dark reds and blues for the color pallette as an homage to New York City. Our cake from A Spoon Fulla Sugar had brush stroked painted in oranges and reds, and B3 set up candelabra-style candles and table settings. After dinner, we moved all of our guests outside to the pavilion terrace where Sourabh and I did our first dance, followed by dancing under the stars and city skyline, a truly magical experience.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Finding the balance between budget, family opinions, your personal vision, and overall logistics is really tough! But making sure that you're listening to your gut and making the decisions that feel right for you and your fiancé should be priority. Your family and friends just want to celebrate you, so don't put too much pressure on yourself to pull everything together!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
I met Srini in the midst of a 10-day quarantine. Thankfully, I had started to feel better a few days into it and thought Moksha and I would get to spend some quality time together! Moksha is a 50-pound black standard poodle whom I had met as a puppy and fallen in love with a few months earlier.

Srini and I had been texting to figure out a time to meet. I thought, this guy is too smart to be normal, let’s just get this date over with. With a popsicle in one hand for hydration and my glasses on because who had the energy for contact lenses, I had my first FaceTime date with my husband-to-be.

He ended up being a dream come true for me and for Moksha, who had been on the lookout for the best dog-dad ever. The rest is history!

Srini took me to a place called Pismo Preserve in Southern California. We had hiked there before with our Mokshee trotting happily alongside us on the beautiful, peaceful trail - rolling green hills on one side, sparkling ocean on the other.

The top of the trail had a wooden park bench under a large, shade-casting tree, where we sat to soak it all in. We promised ourselves we would come back.

The day we returned there was the day was before my birthday. Srini’s parents, my parents, and my sister Deepa had come into town to have a combined birthday celebration for Srini’s mother and I. Our birthdays are 3 days apart!

Srini, Deepa, and I went for a hike on that same favorite trail. At the top, Deepa left for “a phone call”. As we sat on the park bench looking out into the ocean, Srini said, “I have a present for Mokshee.”

I said, “Oh yeah?” And reached over to unwrap it.

Mokshee sat like a statue, waiting patiently for what she probably hoped was a treat. Even better, it was a doggie squeaky toy of a ring box, and inside was a stuffed toy ring!

As she galloped excitedly around the park bench with her toy squeaking, Srini asked me to marry him. Well, I suppose he asked Mokshee first. I don’t remember his words much, I was too overcome. But I remember the emotion, the surroundings, Mokshee’s wagging tail, Deepa’s sort of sucky photography skills that day.
It was perfect.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details
We looked at venues in California, where we were living at the time, and later decided to focus on Texas, where we were moving together. Venue searching when planning an Indian wedding sure is an experience!

There are specifications to Indian weddings that, in all honesty, I had never considered in much detail. I had attended so many hotel-based Indian weddings that I thought it might be fun to try something different. I understood during the process, though, why hotel venues can be so much easier - you do not have to hire outside catering staff, your guests have a convenient location from which to attend events, and outside catering from a place of your choice is generally more accepted (though the latter still depends on the hotel). We ended up putting up our guests in a hotel nearby all three venues, so it all worked out, but required a bit more logistics planning!

I really had only wanted two things for the ceremony - for Moksha to be a part of it and for the ceremony to be outside. But these things can be a big ask when you are accommodating many guests, and your Pelli muhurtham (auspicious day/time for the wedding) falls in December!

There are also a lot of special considerations for outdoor weddings that I did not fully realize. It basically needs to be a 0% chance of rain the day off and the day before, and of course, it needs to not be too cold. Even if there is the tiniest chance of rain, and it doesn’t end up actually raining, there is a good chance you will be pressured to move it inside to avoid ruining the decor. So, it could not be as much of a game-time decision as I imagined it would be!

We ended up having indoor/outdoor moments for both the Sangeet and the wedding ceremony, as the rain had been light on the forecast, and it rained overnight on our wedding day. Moksha ended up being a part of the ceremony - one of my best friends walked her in before I came in! We got her an outfit from @modispooch (highly recommend them), and she got a special groom with two red bows placed in her ears. It ended up being beautiful.

I have never felt as beautiful as when Alex (@mspaintedlady) did my hair and makeup! I think this was important since I have had makeup done before that felt like too much! Alex, just plain and simple, is really talented.

We also absolutely adored Suman Pai, our decorator. She exceeded our expectations for all 3 events (Sangeet, Mehndi, Reception) by a long shot, and we were in true awe of her work.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I selected all my bridal lenghas in Edison, New Jersey (I was born and raised in New Jersey and frequented trips to Edison growing up). Highly recommend Silver Tulip! Anil's uncle is wonderful. I was going for a playful look for the Sangeet and a bit more elegant for the reception. My eyes immediately fell on an off-white lengha with pastel colors for the reception, and I never really wavered from that one!

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Learning dances with Srini was probably the most enjoyable and hilarious part of planning. Neither of us had really danced much, me maybe a bit more than him. He proclaimed before all of it, “I don’t dance”.

But he was such a good sport, and the song Morni Banke and the bhangra moves that ensued from there have since become a source of pride for him.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
My sister Deepa and my cousin Neena (who is our little sister), did a skit imitating Srini and I during our Sangeet. Neena played me, and Deepa played Srini. Neena got a stuffed toy dog that she danced around the stage with, and Deepa walked around on stilts because Srini is quite a bit taller than me. I went to bed the night before our wedding, still laughing about it.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Enjoy it, enjoy it, enjoy it. It goes by so quickly. Savor the venue visits, food tastings, song selections, and dance practices. Don’t sweat the small stuff! And don’t expect every little thing to go according to plan or perfectly.

When I replayed our wedding events in my mind, I was worried about things that didn’t go exactly how I had imagined. But truly, the joy isn’t in those things - it’s in the means, the special time with special people, and all the love!
If you can finagle it, plan your events so that you get to sleep before your wedding day (with all the constraints of Indian weddings, this is challenging and not prioritized, but I think this is the one thing that would have made everything even more enjoyable and less of a blur for me!)

At the end of the day, the special part - the part that truly matters - is celebrating your love with the people you love. And if you stay light-hearted and positive through it all, you can simply treasure it as a magical time!
