Some of the most splendid, lively, and opulent celebrations we’ve come across are Gujarati weddings. They brim with vibrancy and details, and we love how age-old customs are held up, albeit in a modern setting. In recent times, a standout Gujarati wedding that we got to witness was Payal and Viral’s, brought to life by the dream team - the planners, K.I. Weddings, cinematography by Memories Films, and CB Art Photography. In addition to the ceremony and reception, they hosted a Mehndi night, a Welcome Dinner, and in keeping with the rituals, a Vidhi & Saatak event. Each event was more glorious than the previous one, resulting in what Payal described as a “labor of love.” The Welcome Night at the Meridian Convention and Event Center was a Bollywood themed spectacle - musical, melodramatic, and zesty. Bollywood magic was replicated, with the faces of Payal and Viral’s families photoshopped onto movie posters, and the groom's table had a custom Bollywood movie linen with bottles of Thumbs Up, Limca and fresh sugarcane juice. Prashe Decor did such a thorough job with details - upturned ethnic umbrellas were suspended from the ceiling, antique lamps and lanterns with colorful lights were placed around display setups, and iconic Bollywood movie posters in postcard sizes were hung along with string lights. Om Foods Catering & Nasta set up interesting stalls that sounded very scrumptious, like a Thirst Aid Station and Indian Street Food! Payal made for the most chic and comfortable-looking bride we’ve seen, in a tangerine lehenga paired with what seemed like a crop top, in bright blue. Her beau matched in a thread-embroidered floral vest worn over a light grey kurta. The next event was the traditional Vidhi and Saatak, which featured many rituals, a Haldi ceremony, and close-knit festivities. Yellow reigned supreme over the decor, and both Payal and her family wore coordinated outfits with a pop of jade green. Belladev Studio Hair and Makeup outdid themselves by giving Payal a distinctive, suitable look for every event, sometimes even two a day - kudos to their styling expertise!
