Happy Monday, ladies! We hope your week has been off to a great start! Ours has just been brightened up with your lovely company because we were dying to share Aisha & Aamer's intimate wedding celebration with all of you. Every single shot captured by Maria Fasih Studios overflows with beauty and traditional flair, and we cannot stress how much we love them! Just take a look at how beautiful our lovely Aisha looked. Simply amazing! But there is no surprise as she had the best allies by her side: Makeup by Iram in the beauty department, Saira Shakira and Faiza Saqlain taking care of her fashion needs, and Hanif Diamond Jewellers for the dazzling pieces of jewelry. What else can you ask for! Due to the emergence of COVID, these lovebirds tried to keep this wedding small and intimate. Still, it ended up being a dream come true. After all, it was our lovely Maharai who planned and designed every bit of this wedding. She had a vision of how she wanted her dream wedding to be, so she took the wheel to make it happen. How amazing is that! To achieve the final result, she brought Sarah Khan Event Styling to take care of the stage decor. And what a great decision it was as the talent they have in creating magical settings is out of the question, and this time was no exception! Ladies, if you can't get enough of this lovely wedding, make sure to visit today's gallery for a full reveal of all the charm and beauty that surrounded it. We are sure you are going to love it!
How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
We met 10 years ago not knowing that we'd ever be together. Life took us in different directions until we reconnected last year. Things didn't instantly click but when they did we moved forward very quickly. I travel a lot for work and personally, and I knew I didn't want to continue seeing the world without him.
Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
We had been openly talking about marriage and one day just asked our families to meet. With the overwhelming love support of our families we decided to move forward with their blessing. We were very traditional with it and I wouldn't change a thing.
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Wedding planning took a gigantic pivot due to the pandemic. We originally had a 2 day wedding planned for May in Chicago with our entire families from all over the states. We cancelled early on but didn't think we'd be able to reschedule. We ended up rescheduling 3 weeks prior to our wedding day in September and switched it up to my home in Virginia with only 21 guests. As soon as the wedding date was fixed, I knew I couldn't just have a regular party at home. It had to have all the details and love put into it. I didn't want aamer to feel that we didn't have the wedding he's always wanted with all our family and friends. I kicked it into high gear and DIY'd allot of the details in the wedding. From wedding favors, to desserts, gifts, lighting and florals. I wasn't too familiar with the vendors in the DMV area since I haven't lived here too long so I searched high and low on instagram for vendors that fit my aesthetic. Hiring Maria Fasih was an easy tough decision. In one conversation with her I knew she understood my vision and could execute. One of my friend's had to convince me to just with her and don't think twice and I'll be happy with the results. She was right, Maria and her team did a fantastic job and everyone at the wedding loved her professionalism.
I got lucky that I was able to do most of my shopping prior to the pandemic. I had a nikkah and reception outfit ready to go. I just needed my house to match my vibe. I wanted a simple and clean nikkah ceremony. I opted for a cream silk gown and wore my mother's wedding jewelry. I didn't want the outfit to compete with the jewelry and I made baby's breath and rose wrist garlands to go with my floral decor.
For the evening reception I wanted aamer and I to look like royalty. He had an understated but classic self embroidered black on black sherwani which paired well with my over the top egg white gown. I wanted modern jewelry for the reception because my mother's set for the nikkah was traditional multani jewelry.
Sarah Khan events styling was a fabulous vendor that worked around all the DIY details we had going on. Amena and sarah both from that team were fantastic, professional, and really went above and beyond making sure everything looked classy yet magical. In the short period of time and one phone call, they really delivered exactly what I wanted down to every rose.
The beauty about having an at home wedding was I was able to really have an intimate time with everyone that was there. Something I probably couldn't have had we had a larger wedding. I was also able to focus on all the little details and my entire house was decorated in fresh florals. Something that was much more doable since it was at home. I didn't think I would be able to pull off a modern classy rustic farmhouse vibe in a tent on my deck in the backyard. But with only 21 guests, I was able to manage all those fine details and having a small wedding turned into a blessing. I knew I needed roses, lots and lots of baby's breath, and eucalyptus. I love the simplicity of combining greenery with roses.
For makeup, I did my own makeup and hair for the nikkah. I knew I wanted to look like myself during the nikkah. When I look back at the ceremony pictures years later I'll know I had a no makeup makeup look that will remain timeless. I know about of bride's are into certain makeup trends these days, but I really recommend trying to be simple and subtle one of your events. That way you look timeless when you look back.
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I knew I wanted to go with a lighter color. I didn't think I wanted white, but when I walked into the saira shakira bridal studio and saw this gown I knew this is what I wanted with no changes. For my nikkah dress, I wanted to go with cream, and wanted something very simple that wouldn't overpower my mother's wedding jewelry. I opted to wear her wedding jewelry for the nikkah and knew I wanted something clean and simple.
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part was to see how everyone enjoyed everything during the wedding. I didn't go through all that for myself. It was all for Aamer, and to see how happy he was, I would do it again... Maybe. It was a lot of work in a short amount of time. The best part was when my cousins all came in the day before to help out with the final details. It was a girl power moment when we put together the fairy light tunnel up in the front entrance. That was a labor of love and so satisfying to know that I did that with a team of my cousins.
My family was amazing for risking traveling during these pressing times to be there for me. I couldn't invite everyone but in spirit mine and Aamer's friends and family were all there with us.
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Everything. I'm still amazed at how beautiful everything turned out. And I get super happy to know that everyone you came enjoyed themselves. I think the best part was how happy the attendees on Zoom were. Two of my cousins did a fabulous job documenting the entire wedding for our zoom guests. We had 173 participants log in which means allot more people were able to virtually attend the wedding. I'm so grateful for how technology allowed us to still share everything with everyone that couldn't come because of the pandemic.
I think the guests made the party what the party was, and I hope they know they were the best part.
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Everything keeps playing over and over again. How great the food was, the fireworks, the smoke bombs, the lovely video Aamer's friends made for us, and the speeches. My sister in law cried while talking about me during her speech which I thought was so sweet. and I can't stop replaying that over and over again. But most importantly, I can't stop being happy about how happy Aamer was. That alone was worth everything. I know Aamer's family was sad it was a small affair since he comes from a large family. But I'm happy they were happy with how everything worked out. No one missed a beat because of the zoom meeting we had set up. We were also able to interact with everyone on the call.
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
If you're a covid bride, don't get caught up on theb limitations you have with your wedding because of the pandemic. Focus on you, your spouse, and those that are fortunate to be there for you on your lucky day. Smaller weddings can be a blessing because you are able to do things that you wouldn't be able to do if you had to do it on a larger scale. Don't forget that people can still attend your wedding virtually and enjoy your special day up close and personal. Whatever you do invest in your photographer. These are the memories that you will cherish and you want to be sure they are captured true to detail. Pandemic weddings are hard to plan because you never know what obstacle you'll hit a month before, a week before even a day before. Be sure you are asking your vendors to add a covid clause to your contracts. Don't get locked in with nonrefundable deposits that dictate which vendors you'll have to work with if you have to reschedule.
Try your best to get enough sleep! No amount of makeup will replace a good night's rest. Lean on family and friends for help even if they can't make your wedding.
We hope you have a great week! Don't forget to join us every day for an extra dose of inspiration.
Happy Friday, Maharanis! Can you believe how fast this week went by? It is unbelievable how time flies when you are having so much fun! Today, we wanted to give you an extra dose of inspiration so you can make it through the weekend and get back on Monday with your batteries recharged! So get ready to enjoy Sana & Muzamil's intimate and charming wedding celebration. Initially, these lovebirds planned a massive traditional 3-day Pakistani wedding; however, the emergence of COVID 19 flipped their plans upside down. So, Sana herself took the lead in planning this spectacular event to ensure that everything would look just as she wanted it, and she nailed it! In only 5 weeks, she put together a lovely Nikkah ceremony held at her parents' backyard. The elegance, the traditional flair, and the minimalist but exquisite decor put together by Saarah Bhaiji created the perfect setting for this festive occasion. But this lovely setting was just the preamble for the real beauty of the evening: Our lovely Maharani! She looked ravishing thanks to Rimsha Khan, who took care of her beauty needs making her look like a princess while walking down the aisle in a gorgeous attire from Zara Shahjahan. The whole evening was a huge success, and we have no words to describe how much we loved it. If you want to check more of this intimate celebration, don't miss the awe-inspiring shots by Ben Ramos Photography in today's full gallery. It is the best way to prepare for an inspiring weekend!
How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Muzzi and I knew of each other through mutual friends, we officially met in chemistry class our freshman year of college when we were 18 years old! We became quick friends and over time became best friends. Lots of things about our personalities and history were freakishly similar and we had no idea at the time that our relationship would turn into what it has today. We both anticipated it lasting a couple months at max, with warnings from friends about what a terrible decision we were making. We had tons of ups and downs through our college years, but here are we are celebrating 9 years together next month!
Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
We had been together for 7 and a half years and Muzzi proposed to me on the Chicago riverwalk! It was sentimatel because it's where he had told me he loved me several years prior. We had already planned an engagement party and I catch on to everythingggg, so pulling this off was EXTREMELY impressive! Muzzi worked with one of my best friends who was also my coworker at a new job I started, he got in touch with my manager and had her pretend we were meeting for dinner. I showed up to the dinner location to find Muzzi standing there in a suit with an umbrella and he walked me to the river where he had set up candles, flowers, and a guitarist. Of course, I said yes!!! Our immediate siblings and cousins were hiding, waiting to come down and surprise us with so much love! I thought we were headed off to dinner, but a second surprise was waiting for us at a nearby lounge with all of our closest friends who had decorated and we had the best night!
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
We had originally planned a massive traditional 3 -day Pakistani wedding with different venues for a mehndi, baraat, and valima. Each one picked over a long time. Both our families went to Pakistan early in 2020 to get outfits and prepare. All of that flipped upside down when COVID hit. We had no idea what was going to happen with our wedding events, and with Muzzi on a tight schedule for medical school, we didn't know how to plan from there. Our wedding was going to be mid-July, and we didn't make any decision on what to do until the very end of June (even then with tons of uncertainty). We decided the best thing for us was to have a religious ceremony and get married, we'd deal with the reception and large events at another time. So I pulled together the nikkah ceremony in my parent's backyard in 5 weeks. Things fell into place in ways that never would've happened had we kept our original wedding. The blessings in disguise revealed themselves throughout the planning, before, and after the event. Looking back, I wouldn't change a single thing!
I picked the theme (and probably drove everyone crazy with this) but asked everyone to wear white. I knew that Muzzi and I would also be wearing white, but I was really excited and kept envisioning an all white super intimiate backyard event with greenery, candles, lights, and flowers all around. I found a friend Saarah Bhaiji who set up all the decor with the help of some of my friends and I rented tables and chairs for the weekend through a local rental company.
I knew one of my best friends, Rimsha Khan, who is a makeup artist in the Chicagoland area would be doing my make-up, she does exactly what I want which is smokey but soft. I LOVED my hair and makeup, and she actually did this for me twice -- once for the event and again for the shoot we had a few days later.
The photo and video was SUPER important to Muzzi and I, so we booked Ben Ramos (photographer) and Paraagon Films (videographer). I could not have been happier with our decision, both of these professionals are incredible at what they do and created magical shots that we'll look back at forever! I was truly blown away at their work and they became an extension of our friends at our event.
Our venue was my parent's backyard which was also really special. My parents bougt this house some 15+ years ago, at the time my sister and I were in middle school and elementary school. An old married couple was selling this house and told my parents that both their daughters had gotten married in this backyard. My dad thought of my sister and I, he still says it was one of the main reasions he bought this house and told us that story constantly. Originally, we had no intention of doing our wedding in the backyard just because of how many guests were invited to each event! When we knew our limit was under 50, it just worked out so beautifully and it meant so much!
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I actually didn't ever order my nikkah outfit when I was in Pakistan, I was super SUPER indecisive. I knew I wanted to wear white, and that was it. I looked at a million styles and options. When we knew we were doing a backyard nikkah and I had kind of envisioned it in my head, I remembered this Zara ShahJahan lengha that I had just loved SO much because of how elegant and understated it was. I ordered it right away, which was still 5 weeks before our event. Even with all the COVID uncertainty, they were able to get it to me and I didn't have to make a SINGLE adjustment! It was perfect, I was so comfortable and I loved how it sparkled all night.
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
There was A LOT of stress around how we would pull this off logistically, a lot of things were super uncertain, we didn't know who would want to attend or not, how many people to anticipate, etc. So instead of capping out at 50, we decided to invite as minimally as possible. We got down to 35 guests. For two Pakistani families, that's nearly impossible. There were so many family members and friends on both sides that we were not able to include. We also decided against a driveby so that we could enjoy the event with whoever was there, and that was the best deicision ever! We still plan on celebrating with alll of our family and friends when things calm down with COVID, but this turned out to be so extremely special and intimate.
My favorite part of planning was that it was so much easier and less complicated than a big venue wedding(s). We got to make it so customized and special. We decided to do a single long table, add fresh flowers, make mini goodie bags for the ceremony portion, pick our favorite songs, etc. All of that made the planning so tailored to what we actually wanted, and that was so special.
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
I think our guests really loved the actual nikkah ceremony -- the imaam that did our nikkah did so in English and gave us such valuable advice and information on how to start our marriage and how to continue to be in our marriage. It was so beautiful and powerful, but short and sweet. They all also really loved the decor and vibe of the event.
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
SO MANY THINGS! I remember every single moment of that day, intentionally. I woke up actually smiling and in just such a great mood. I felt like the energy was so powerful and positive all day. I remember giong out on a drive alone in the morning with my coffee to pick up some fresh flowers for the cake. I was listening to some of my favorite songs, the weather was incredible, and I was looking at the sky paying attention to every detail of the day so that I would remember what it felt like. That was actually the only time I cried all day, and it was all tears of happiness and just joy. I felt really good about how the day was going to go.
I walked in under my grandmother's wedding veil into the instrumental piano version of kuch kuch hota hai with my brother. It was right as the sun was setting so the ligh was coming down, so the timing was perfect. I did trip on some uneven ground during my enterance *face palm* but laughed it off and it became such a funny memory.
The nikkah ceremony was so special because my grandpa was right next to me. The imaam, someone who's lectured I used to attend and raved about to basically everyone I knew, gave us (and everyone there) such simple but powerful advice. We hugged each other's families and hugged each other last, and I felt just so extremely happy.
One of my FAVORITE moments from the night was when everyone sat down to eat dinner. It was dark and literally everything I had hoped and imagined came to life at that moment. The lights and candles were so dreamy. It was so incredible to look out onto the table and see so many people that are so close to us together in the middle of a pandemic to celebrate our marriage. More than anything else, I got to actually enjoy our nikkah with my best friend and HUSBAND (whoa) and we were so happy to finally be married.
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Every single couple and every single scenario is SO unique, and often times weddings don't reflect that! I'd say to pick really awesome vendors, let your wedding reflect you two as a couple, and enjoy the heck out of the night. Had we spent the entire night on a stage taking photos, there is no way we'd get to enjoy it the way we did! All the minor things that did go wrong didn't matter at all. I'm a control freak and care so much about details, but the day of I really thoroughly enjoyed from the moment I woke up until the night ended.
What a great way to end the week, isn't it? Enjoy your weekend and don't forget to join us on Monday for more!

Very early in our relationship he would always say "I'm going to marry you". When he told me his parents are going to come over for my hand I laughed because I loved his persistent pursuit of me despite me playing hard to get (even though I was head over heels myself). It is so nice to be with someone who knows exactly what he wants from day one and is not afraid of the next step. So after him and his parents asked for my hand things moved quickly and we started ring shopping. Let me tell you! My husband is the most trendy fashion forward man I know! He learned everything there is to know about diamonds and had such a strong opinion on the design. He wanted a solitaire and I was all about the details like a halo. We came up with a ring design we both loved and met in the middle with a solitaire look with a micropavé band. He was so involved in the process and cared so much about the design it was so sweet. I knew he had the ring but I wasn’t sure of when he would do it. I have always been the type of girl to want an intimate proposal with no one but my significant other. When COVID hit I expected there to be no detailed proposal. Little did I know that when he spontaneously visited me for my birthday weekend he would do it then! Since options were limited due to lockdown he decided to do it at home and make it super sentimental. The proposal made me cry because it was so well thought out and detailed! He set up a HUGE rose petal heart in my basement with a rose petal/candle walkway leading up to it. He bought a helium tank and filled heart balloons to line up the walkway. By the floral heart there was a board that said "Will you marry me?" with a book titled "Dream Come True" in which he laminated/pasted little details he saved from our relationship over time. I could not believe this guy saved some of the things that he did! He had his first boarding pass from his first visit to me, my first boarding pass to visit him, a rose petal from the first flowers he gave me, a piece of the gift bag from our first valentines day, first theme park entrance tickets, etc. He had worked on this book for 5 months before proposing to me with it. I could not stop myself from tears! He always jokes that I didn't even care about the ring, I was all over the book. I am so happy I get to hold onto that book and cherish it forever.

Truth be told I grew up in the DMV area and have known where I would have my wedding and who I would use as my vendors for a long time! Due to COVID we ended up doing a mayoun hosted by my uncle/aunt at their house and a nikkah at my house for now. Stay tuned for the Mehndi and Reception details in Virginia and San Francisco next year (iA, God willing)!
So for now, venue for the Nikkah was my house which ended up being the best thing ever! There is something about leaving from your house as a bride with your husband that is so so soooo special, which I may have missed out on if it had not been for COVID (silver lining of the pandemic).
Photography/Videography: None other than Maria Fasih. This decision was one I didn't even have to think about. I met Maria at my best friend's wedding. As the maid of honor at her wedding I worked closely with her vendors including Maria. In just one night we got so close! I told her right then and there that she would cover my wedding and she has accommodated me no matter how many times I had changed the dates. She has become a lifelong friend who is super talented and will drop everything for her clients. I cannot wait for future shoots with her. Her work speaks for itself but when you meet her, you will understand that her work ethic and personality is unmatched.
Hair & Makeup: Mahwish Ali Beauty. There are so many talented hair and makeup artists that I have tried in the area that I love for their own unique styles. However, when it came down to my mayoun and nikkah I knew Mahwish was the one who could give me my "ideal" looks for both events. She is so talented and super sweet! Loved everything about my mayoun and nikkah look! The amount of detail and effort she puts into her work really shows! I fell in love with my looks as soon as I saw myself in the mirror but when my husband was obsessed with both my looks I knew Mahwish hit the nail on the head.
Outfits: Embellished By Sadaf Amir. Not only is she basically family she is a GREAT designer. I have known her for years and her work is nothing short of perfect. I basically told her my vision for my mayoun and nikkah outfits and with her own expertise she elevated those outfits to the next level. She always does an amazing job with all my clothes so I knew she had to be a part of my wedding looks. She is not just a designer who will talk business with you, she will go the extra mile to keep you happy. She dealt with all my tantrums and I will forever be grateful for her.
Decor: Sarah Khan Event Styling. Where do I start with them? There aren't enough nice words I can say about Sarah Khan and her team. From even before the pandemic when we were planning my events they had been sorting through ideas and working so hard for my dream wedding. When the pandemic hit they were honestly not just decorators but also a listening ear. I will never forget all the venting sessions I had with them and how cooperative they were with all my changing plans. They gave me a more ideal wedding than I could have had in a huge venue. I mean how did they turn my house into something out of a fairytale?! Until this day the decor is being talked about and people keep asking me who did it! Ahhh, I still look back at the pictures and obsess over the details!
Mehndi/Henna: Naseem for my BEAUTIFUL mehndi. She spent hours on my hands and feet with impeccable detail and the stain was beyond beautiful. She is so talented and super sweet. I will never get my mehndi done by anyone else! LOVE her work!
Desserts: Fatima for the AMAZING cake, macarons, cake pops, and cookies. Not only were they soooo pretty they tasted so good too! Super talented and fun to work with. I have gotten desserts from her in the past too and each time she exceeds my expectations!
Extra Details: Saher for the super cute "Qubool Hai" sign and chocolate bar favors. The amount of detail and talent in her work really shows and she is so down to earth and sweet on top of that! I have ordered her favors and art work many times and will continue to do so!
Thank you to ALL our vendors for making our events even better than what they would have been pre-pandemic. Their loyalty to their clients really showed during such an uncertain time. So thankful for the life long friendships we made along the way. We could not have asked for a better team!
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part of planning for our wedding was the time we spent together. For most couples wedding planning leads to stress and added tension but for us it was a little different. Sure, there were days where I was being a complete bridezilla but I cannot say enough good things about my husband. He was a true gem throughout it all. He lightened up every situation and made me laugh. I think if the groom is just as involved in the planning as the bride then the memories you make are unforgettable. If you truly love each other, wedding planning should bring you closer together.
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Honestly I try to remember how I felt in each moment to relive that day in my head. However, there are TWO very important moments that I will NEVER forget. One is when we were doing our photoshoot on the HOTTEST day of the summer my husband was blowing air on me, fixing my outfit, fixing my hair, and constantly making sure I am hydrated. In those moments he didn't care that he was also burning hot, he was just worried about me. Reminded me of why I fell in love with him. Two is during/after the Rukhsati (send off) he held my hand and told me "I know how much you mean to your whole family and I can't even imagine one day giving our daughter to someone else to take away to the other side of the country...but I promise to always try to fill your dad's shoes by loving and cherishing you" That moment made me more emotional than the actual Rukhsati because here I was worried about having my dream wedding when in reality none of that matters when you have the dream partner, the #DreamBaig if you will haha!
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Enjoy every moment because it flies by so quickly! I was the type of bride to worry about each and every detail but luckily my husband is very good at making me want to live in the moment. He joked around and made me laugh all night. Looking back at pictures/videos all I can see is a happy couple and that is exactly how you want to remember your big day. At the end of the day you won't remember or care about any detail, all you will remember is how happy you were in the moment. Take it from a major bridezilla!
That is all for today, darlings. Don't forget to join us tomorrow for more.
