Queens, NY Indian Fusion Wedding by Artistry Captures

We have a one-of-a-kind love story for today, queens! Let's unveil Leena & Rani's celebration, shall we? These sweethearts literally made history with their union commemorated at Shri Shakti Mariammaa Temple, one of the first same-sex couples to get married in a Hindu temple, and we have all the details for you, Maharanis! This lovely celebration was one of a kind, with a cozy gathering at the Shandon Court venue. This heartwarming place was faultless for keeping the revelry going after an emotional and fulfilling wedding ceremony. Our Maharanis delighted their guests with a tasty cake from Magaly's Cakes and a dreamy ambiance courtesy of the skillful Zro The Dj. But enough about the scenery, ladies, we have two gorgeous Maharanis to lavish about for hours! Both Leena & Rani looked dapper with their stylish attires. The enchanting red tones made Leena sparkle throughout the day, and Rani was a princess with her traditional yet fashionable choice. The fabulous bridal fashion from Leena's boutique was perfect for this unforgettable day, and, of course, our Maharanis had a fantastic team in charge of their hair and make-up. While Bexxalicious Beauty outdid themselves with our couples' look for the ceremony, Blend by Lisa did too for the reception. Completing their demeanor with HennaDready by Natalia's heavenly mehndi art, the lovebirds dazzled more than one. Regardless of the moment, our Maharanis were a sight to behold! And we have a picturesque gallery that will take us behind the clever Artistry Captures' lenses for this fascinating wedding. So remember, my dear Maharanis, as the marvelous Leena said: Love prevailed!

Albany, NY Indian Fusion Wedding by Studio KSD

Good morning, Maharanis! Let me start your day with something beautiful. I have a lovely story for you, starring Shabeen & Asad. Our charming couple began their new life together with a spectacular celebration at The Desmond Hotel Albany. This luxurious venue is a fulfilled fantasy with breathtaking views at any turn. The adornment Abhishek Decorators impeccably did was the perfect companion for the place, bringing the most vibrant colors and scenery for such a particular occasion. Even the cake from Cake Street Sweets got its own decor with exquisite candy flowers that everyone admired and enjoyed. Ladies, our Mahanari, Shabeen, had some dreamy attires for the day, rocking hues that went from a traditional white to bold sea green. Her graceful mehndi art, courtesy of Laila Budhwani, stood out perfectly in contrast with her marvelous clothing. Shabeen's makeup was flawless, too. KC Makeup by Karuna Chani's talent is undeniable! And we cannot continue without talking about the groom. Asad's attire for the ceremony was glorious, one of Aainaa Fashion's best indeed. I am head over heels for their phenomenal and elegant looks! And so were the guests who could not resist the dance floor with Premier DJ Usa PSAV's enchanting ambiance. What a picture-perfect ceremony they had. Our beautiful couple will treasure this day for years to come, and Studio KSD's professional team made sure the sweetness of these memories was captured forever in a gorgeous set of pictures for them to cherish. My dears, I am excited to tell you that we have these captivating frames available for you in this radiant gallery. So, go get your inspiration, my loves!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Asad and I met seven years ago in New York through a mutual friend. I was actually considering leaving New York at the time so I wasn't interested in getting into a serious relationship. About a year into us dating and I received a job offer in Chicago. I assumed we would end things knowing that long distance is incredibly challenging but his overwhelming support of my career, the opportunity in front of me and his prioritization of what I wanted to do was one of the first times I realized how special are relationship was. There was never one single moment in which I "knew he was the one." The next six years of dating (including three years of long distance!) were a culmination of little moments full of love, support, growth and both of us deciding to choose happiness with each other.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
The day we got engaged was one of the funnest days of our relationship. We decided to visit the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens since neither of us have ever seen the cherry blossoms in NYC. When we got there the ticket collector claimed we had 3 tickets but there were only 2 of us there. Asad is a pretty calm person so he made me move on quickly (I was getting ready to call our bank about being overcharged!). We started walking through the gardens and stopped in the lavender fields. Asad asked what I thought was a stranger to take a picture of us with our polaroid camera. (Side note: he had gotten very obsessed with polaroid cameras the week before and insisted we bring the polaroid camera to the gardens). It was there that he proposed and to this day, I'm pretty sure I never even said yes to his question as all I could get out of my mouth was "Oh my god!" Everyone around us started cheering and it turned out we were in fact a group of three because that stranger he asked to take a photo of us was actually a photographer he had hired for the day. We then spent the day doing a beautiful photoshoot around the gardens. Our families surprised us later by decorating our apartment and taking us out to dinner that evening. I've never smiled and laughed so much in one day.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
It takes a village to plan an Indian wedding! With five events on the agenda, a pandemic that wasn't going anywhere and two huge loving families wanting to be involved in the planning process, we knew we had our work cut out for us. Having an older sister and lots of girl cousins who had planned their own weddings before me was a great place for me to start my planning process. We began our venue search in Albany, NY since Asad's family lives there. We thought it would be easier and more Covid-friendly to space our guests out upstate instead of in New York City. With that in mind, we tried to utilize a mix of local Albany and New York City vendors. Finding vendors who could help us design and execute on a vision wasn't easy, but once we found the right teams to coordinate with, everything fell seamlessly into place. Asad and I trusted our vendors to let them do what they do best which is why I think everything turned out incredibly.

Special thank you to all the vendors who gave us the wedding of our dreams: Crowne Plaza Albany Desmond Hotel, Studio KSD Photo & Cinema, Abhishek Decorators, DJ Ambition of Premier Entertainment, Moghul Catering, Mazadar Mediterranean Kitchen, Parivar Food & Spices, Karuna Chani Makeup, Henna by Laila Budhwani, Brides by Sabaa, Custom Garlands BK by Amara, The Paanwaala, Zuria Dor, Elan Atlanta, Aainaa Fashion, Suit Supply, JinaShili by Shili, Crossover Bollywood Se, SKB Sweets and CakeStreet Sweets.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I've always loved the idea of having a traditional Indian wedding. I felt it was powerful to partake in the traditions that millions of Indian brides before me had experienced. While I didn't have a specific color in mind for my Nikah or Reception outfits, I assumed I would wear red for one of my wedding events. What would end up happening was way out of my control! Travel and in store bridal appointments were limited because of Covid so I took to Instagram for inspiration. I stumbled across the gorgeous blue-green Maera bridal saree from Pakistani designer, Zuria Dor, and as much as I tried to look at other options, I couldn't get that stunning piece out of my head. My Nikah saree was the first outfit I picked (out of 5 of events) so I figured I would wear red for my Reception. I looked for months for something special and tried on every shade of red I could find but nothing spoke to me. It wasn't until my mother-in-law and I discovered that gold, stone-studded bridal lengha from Elan in Atlanta that I knew I had found my Reception outfit. I may not have ended up not wearing red for any of my Wedding events but tradition is even more fun when you get to make it your own!

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
We went the extra mile to make sure our guests had a memorable and enjoyable weekend celebrating us and we're so grateful they could share in our love. We heard many compliments ranging from the amazing food (thank you Moghul Catering!) to the stunning decor (thank you Abhishek Decorators!) and all the details in between. There was a lot to be happy about that weekend and we loved that our wedding could bring everyone together (cheers for having a covid-free wedding!). Our favorite compliment has to be everyone telling us how happy we looked as a bride and groom. We were overjoyed to be tying the knot and I love that everyone could see the joy on our faces and feel our excitement in the room.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Walking down the aisle with my older brother on my arm and my husband tearing up in front of all of our loved ones is a memory that constantly replays in my mind. I walked out to Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling In Love" played by our incredible string quartet (thank you Hudson String Quartet!). We practiced walking down the aisle in our living room that week but no amount of practice can prepare you for how emotional and remarkable that moment will be! Locking eyes with my husband during that song is a memory I'll cherish forever. The room was full of friends and family but Asad was the only one I could see.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
I decided a color scheme early on for each of the five wedding events. That helped guide our decor and outfit selections from the start. Both of our families love to dance so we knew the Sangeet night would be a night to remember. My amazing siblings, cousins and friends blew me away on the night of the Sangeet (including a surprise dance - thanks Nitin and Mun!). Asad's family, cousins and aunts all had incredible dance performances and his immediate family even pulled me into one which was so sweet and welcoming. Since we got married on Halloween weekend, we decided to setup a Halloween table full of treats and games at the Reception for the kids forced to attend our wedding. It was the least we could do for taking Halloween weekend away from them! We made it a point to spend as much time as possible with our guests and our vendors because we really wouldn't have had as magical of a wedding weekend without the people in that room.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Plan for all the big and small details until you're exhausted and right before your events start, let it all go so you can focus on the person you're going to marry. When something goes wrong (and it inevitably will), remind yourself how lucky you are to be surrounded by people willing to help and support you. Take pauses to soak in every moment you can because I promise, all you will really remember is how happy you felt looking at your person. P.S. Try not to sweat the small stuff - no one really cares what shade of white your tablecloths are!

Maharanis, I hope you loved this story. Keep coming back for more!

Raleigh, NC Indian Fusion Wedding by Perry Vaile Photography

Good morning, everyone. I hope your morning is as beautiful as you are! How about we start the day with a dose of romance with today's love story, courtesy of Shantha & Aneesh. These lovebirds started their forever in the best way possible. With a grand bash surrounded by all their loved ones! There are so many details that made this celebration stand out, but one that cannot go unnoticed is the sensational work of Harmony Weddings & Events with the planning and design. This one was a gorgeous wedding, ladies, and our Maharani got to enjoy every moment thanks to the professional team behind the scenes, keeping every aspect in check. Of course, a magnificent event deserves magnificent invites, and our couple trusted Customizing Creativity's capable hands to make and design their invitations. I am sure all the guests will keep their invites as a small token of a grand day! The newlyweds were confident that the most important thing for them was serenity. By choosing Pavilion at Carriage Farm, they ensured that everyone had an intimate instant while celebrating their union. Wild Flora Farm's gorgeous decor complemented the lovely open space. These are some of the most beautiful bouquets I have ever seen! Darlings, but nothing was as beautiful as Shantha. Our Maharani was undeniably divine with the gorgeous hair and makeup by Bella FacciaThe delicate Mehdi Henna by NeenaJain did was as magnificent as her clothing and combined perfectly with Kushal's Fashion Jewellery's elegant touch. Our couple delighted everyone not only with their style but also with delicious cuisine. Even the pickiest palate was pleased with delicacies, from a tasty Italian dinner at The Laurelbrook to a mouthwatering crepe tower from The Crepe Cakerie. Shantha & Aneesh were incredibly thoughtful. Even the live music from Udeshi Hargett and The Lost Strings was excellent to accompany each moment of their journey to marriage. The precious memories created during this charming wedding were perfectly photographed by the brilliant Perry Vaile Photography and are available for you in this gallery. Maharanis, you'll love it!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
I met Aneesh through my very close family friend who happens to be Aneesh's first cousin. After spending time with Aneesh, I quickly understood that I had never met someone as kind, grounded and respectful as him and knew wedding bells were in our future. Our meeting will always remain so special because we were joined by someone very close to both of us.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Aneesh and I had made plans to spend a few days in Lake Tahoe with his parents around Christmas. At least, that's what I thought... As we drove from San Francisco to the Tahoe airport to pick up his parents, they texted that their flight was delayed. Aneesh rerouted us to a restaurant that we visited on our first trip together a year prior. After a lovely lunch, we walked out on the pier listening to a medley of our favorite songs before Aneesh got down on one knee. Afterwards, I walked into an airbnb filled with close friends, family and most importantly, both sets of parents. It was a night to remember.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Aneesh and I are planners! We love attention to detail and wanted our wedding weekend to be an incredible experience for all our guests. After putting a lot of thought into the location and venue style of our events, we decided on Raleigh, NC and The Pavilion at Carriage Farm for the ceremony. It was important that we incorporate indoor and outdoor space for all of our events. The pandemic hit soon after we started planning and we were forced to plan our wedding during the pandemic from across the country. The best decision we ever made was hiring our wedding planner, Aneesa Glines. She was able to take care of everything we could not due to distance. She encouraged our creative minds to come up with everything we desired and executed every idea seamlessly. Instead of hiring a decor company, we worked together to design each and every event and relied on excellent vendors to bring our designs to life.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I am a huge fan of neutrals and wanted to look and feel as much of myself as possible. My mom helped me find a beautiful deep cream silk saree that suited me, and a designer that I love in Bangalore, India helped create a stunning blouse to complement it.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The details and working with our vendors! We had a LONG list of amazing vendors that fostered our creativity. We loved creating our wedding stationery, specifically the ceremony program filled with games! We enjoyed handwriting our reception seating cards and coming up with fun clues for our guests. Even helping our caterers come up with unique ways of serving food was enjoyable. I could go on and on about the details!

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
I can't speak on behalf of our guests, but I think everyone loved the close-knit family feeling we maintained across the weekend. The hotel was the perfect size and made everyone feel like they were staying at a large home. The event venues were the large enough to accommodate our guests while still giving that intimate feel.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Walking into the reception hall before our guests arrived and seeing our decor ideas come to life was so exciting. Aneesh and I practiced our first dance alone in the venue and we felt a sense of joy and peace that I can't describe. We were married and all that was left was to have fun and spend time with our guests.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
The more prep work you do ahead of time, the more you can truly be present and enjoy your weekend! Hire a reliable wedding planner!

I hope you loved this entry, dears. I'll see for the next love story!
