How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Ronak and I met my freshman year of college at a dance competition we hosted at UT Austin. We randomly kept in touch as friends for several years after that and met up again in Chicago when I went to visit some friends in 2014. We talked nonstop after that and officially started dating a few months later. We did long distance for about 2.5 years before we both moved to Philadelphia to finally be closer to each other!

I'm not sure if there was an exact moment in time that I knew Ronak was "the one", but I knew pretty early on that he was someone I could see myself spending the rest of my life with. :)

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Ronak proposed on Friday, October 5th, 2018 at a gazebo behind the Philadelphia Museum of Art. I arrived thinking I was just attending a 'Yelp Elite' wine tasting event with my soon-to-be sister-in-law and another friend. When we arrived at the top of the hill and started walking towards the gazebo I saw Ronak standing in the middle of it, suited up and looking as handsome as ever. :) I immediately started to cry (lol) and he held out his hand and asked me to dance (he had 'Thinking Out Loud' playing on his phone in his pocket haha). He said a bunch of sweet things that I can honestly hardly remember but before I knew it, he was down on one knee asking me to marry him! Then both of our families came and surprised me, and we all went to dinner together. Just when I thought the night couldn't get any better, Ronak pulled off one final surprise by throwing a huge party with all our closest friends at the rooftop of his apartment building. It was truly one of the most perfect days! :)

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
We started off venue shopping in Texas last year (where I'm from and where my parents live), thinking that's where we'd be hosting the wedding. After spending an entire weekend looking at venues and hotels that all looked the same, I came back to Philly and complained to Ronak that I didn't find one I loved. He threw out the idea of doing a destination wedding, and I laughed and said our parents would probably never agree to that. Long story short, they agreed and we decided on a destination wedding in Mexico, and it was honestly one of the best decisions we made!

Besides working with Ateet Ahuja from Indian Destination Weddings to help our guests get booked, I decided to do all the planning myself. I'll admit it was very hard at times since the majority, if not all, of the planning was done via email since we weren't able to go meet our vendors in person. But honestly all the vendors there are great to work with, and so understanding of what we need for an Indian wedding. Here's who we worked with for everything:

Travel Concierge: Indian Destination Weddings
Venue: Hard Rock Riviera Maya
Decor: Latin Asia
Florist: Tulipania
Food: Hard Rock Riviera Maya
Hair/MUA: Alex Corbanezi Beauty & Co.
Photo/video: Sarani Weddings
DJ: Dhoom Events - DJ Milin Jani
Audio/video equipment: PSAV Mexico
Entertainment:
Producciones Arteum - salsa lesson for our Welcome Fiesta and live saxophonist for the cocktail hour

Drums in Paradise - dhol player and vintage car for the baraat

Pyrotech - cold fireworks for the reception

Quiroo photobooth - photobooth at the cocktail hour and reception

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I didn't really have a clear cut vision of what I wanted, but I'm so glad I took the time to try on a variety of styles because I really didn't like some of the styles that I thought I'd love. I went home to Houston one weekend to get some shopping done, and after looking up and down every store on Hilcroft and not finding anything, we decided to check out Panache by Sharmeen, as I'd heard great things about her and her selection. We originally went to look for reception outfits there, but my sister came across this beautiful red lehenga. She made me try it on and we all fell in love with it! Sharmeen worked with me on making a custom blouse for it since I knew I wanted to have emerald green, and we also custom made the dupatta's I wore. I love how it all turned out and Sharmeen was great to work with!

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Probably selecting the decor details and then seeing it all come together towards the end! And of course having the weekend go as smoothly and flawlessly as possible, and hearing our guests tell us how much they enjoyed everything was just the cherry on top :)

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
From what we've heard, everyone really loved and appreciated the uniqueness of the destination wedding. I know they're getting increasingly popular these days but the majority of our guests had never attended one, and everyone just loved how our wedding also served as a mini-vacation for them!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
It truly went by in the blink of an eye, but seeing Ronak on our wedding morning for our first look photos is a moment I'll never forget. :)

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
Check out my wedding highlights on my Instagram page for all the deets :)

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Enjoy the process! Wedding planning isn't always the most fun, but it pays off and will truly be the most memorable time in your life! Also, try on different styles of outfits before committing to one! Everything always looks better on Pinterest, but you may not always love how it looks on yourself. :)

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
Check out my wedding highlights on my Instagram page for all the deets :)

There is still more beauty left to see, so stay tuned if you don't want to miss it!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Arpit and I matched on a dating app, Coffee Meets Bagel, in February 2017. For our first date, we had intended to only go out for dinner, but ended up going to three different places just to make the date last longer. Over the next few weeks we were talking multiple times a day, and the chemistry just kept getting stronger. I knew this was it when the feelings I developed for him were like none other I had ever experienced before.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
It's incredibly difficult to keep secrets from me, I'm too observant. Turns out Arpit had planned my proposal by getting my cousin Shilpa involved as his sidekick. I'm always her backup plus-one for events, and she had asked me to accompany her to an engagement party for a good friend of hers. On the way to the party, she told me she had to stop by a flower shop to pick up a few things for the engagement venue. We went to the Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool, a beautiful park in Lincoln Park Chicago and was approached by a girl who had told us the park was offering a scavenger hunt. I immediately declined since we were only there to pick up flowers (and of course, we're in evening dresses and high heels) but Shilpa said we still had plenty of time before the party. The girl handed me a canister with a scroll, which said to get ready for a journey and to search for the first clue. I looked up, and the girl was gone. I immediately thought this was a little creepy, and told Shilpa that we should go. She said she saw the second clue on a rock not too far away, and we should give it a try. Long story short, Arpit had set up clues all around the park, which led me to him standing under a bridge. He proposed, and I was definitely not expecting any of it! To make it better, the girl who had given me the first scroll was the photographer he hired to capture the proposal! :)

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Planning for 5 events (Mendhi, Grah Shanti, Sangeet, Wedding, and Reception) meant 5 iteniraries, menus, outfits, decor schemes, hair and makeup looks, etc. I really had to get organized, so I made my own wedding planner book that I took to every vendor meeting and used to put inspiration in.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I really wanted to go the traditional route for my bridal lengha. I chose a bright, beautiful red with gold stitching.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
I loved that Arpit was just as excited about wedding planning as I was. We worked together on most things and I think that made it a lot more fun.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
The food was definitely a hit. Also, we loved surprising our guests! During the Sangeet, Arpit and I put on a surprise dance performance, and during the reception, we surprised our guests by driving into the reception hall!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
This was a behind the scenes moment that always brings a smile to my face. After we came back from the Vidaai, I had about one hour before I had to shower and start getting hair and makeup done for the reception. We were both in Arpit's hotel room and he was in a shirt and sweatpants, and I was still in my lengha. I realized there would be no way I would be able to eat and then fully undress myself in time, so two of my amazing bridesmaids, Amber and Forum, came to our room and took out the dozens of bobby pins in my hair and the safety pins in my dress while I ate. We were laughing most of the time and it was one of those little moments that made a lot of the wedding stress go away.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
The reception was my absolute favorite. I had envisioned a starry night theme with dark colors and bright stars, and my wonderful decorator, Red Umbrella, made it all come to life. By the the best moment was when everyone was facing the front doors for our entrace, but instead we drove in the side service entrance and around the hall to the front of the dance floor.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Get organized and remember the bigger picture. At the end of the day, it won't matter that you ran out of a certain appetizer or that your favorite song wasn't played. This is your wedding day, have fun and don't let one little thing ruin your mood.

This fantastic journey has just started, stay close if you don't want to miss the upcoming events. You are going to love them!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Even though I (the bride) resided in Chicago and he resides in Florida, Jaydeep and I managed to find each other on Dil Mil (I have no idea how because I thought dil mil works through your location). I actually got the app due to one of my friends who kept nagging me to check it out. I had no desire to use it because looks was important to me and I had a perception of Dil Mil as an app that did not have cute guys lol. But after a long day at work one night, I was scrolling through my phone and noticed that I still had the app. I decided to click on it to open it for the very first time. To my surprise, Jaydeep’s handsome face popped up on my screen as the first guy and I couldn’t resist but to click the checkmark. As I did that, it instantly said that we matched which meant he had already checked out my page and liked it before. I didn’t think much of it so I just left it at matched and went to bed. When I woke up the next morning, I saw that I got a message from him and ever since that day we haven’t been able to go a full day without talking to each other. I knew he was “the one” from the moment we started talking because he reminded me of my brother due to his caring nature and sense of humor. I always told everyone that I would marry someone just like my brother because there’s no one I’m closer to on this planet than him and he cares for me like no one ever has; well besides Jaydeep now. :)

We went to Maui, Hawaii in 2018 because I had just passed my pharmacy boards and finally became a licensed pharmacist. He knows how much work and dedication studying for those boards are because he is also a pharmacist and graduated in 2016. So because of studying, we weren’t able to see each other for 3 months (the whole summer). As a reward, he decided to plan a trip to Hawaii. There was nothing on my mind because my brain was fried from studying so the only thing I could think of was to just have a relaxing and fun trip. He told me to pack lightly and just take one nice dress for a romantic dinner which seemed fair and sounded like any other vacay we’ve taken. On our third day, it was time for our dinner. It was up in the mountains and as we entered I saw photographers and thought “aww how cute. Someone’s getting married.” Then they started clicking away pictures of us and I got kinda confused but didn’t think anything of it. I turned around to fix my purse and the moment I turned back he was on one knee and I had no words and honestly doing recall anything he said besides, “I’ve been waiting for this day forever. Will you marry me?” Then there it was, and I said yessss to forever!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Since I had lived in Chicago for over 15 years, I have been to many weddings and knew vendors pretty well. My sister got married in 2016 and helping her with her wedding planning also made me get in contact with many of her vendors. I already knew who I was going to get with elegance decor being number one on my list due to their elegant reputation and amazing decor. I knew exactly what I wanted in my decor and when I spoke to elegance they just “got it” and understood me. I wanted an open mandap concept for the wedding ceremony so my guests can all feel part of the wedding and are not blocked off by obstructed views. Hair and makeup were done by one of the best in Chicago- makeup Bushra Abbasi and I absolutely loved her work! Enough that I’m flying her down to Florida to do my sister in laws wedding make up and hair! I loved pearl banquets lighting and twinkle lights on top so I knew I wanted to get married at pearl. We decided to keep all our events there to make it easier for guests that came in from out of town. Most of my family members reside in New Zealand and Fiji and the groom's family coming in from Florida, we had to do everything possible to make sure their transport to each event was easy and manageable.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
We went to India for our bridal shopping. I knew I wanted something different and something without borders. I also knew I didn’t want much gold in there but I had always imagined myself getting married in red. So I knew it had to be red in color. Shopping was intense because I am usually so picky with my outfits. We went around to all of India to find the perfect lengha for me. Then in Ahmedabad, we finally managed to find the one I fell in love with. It had the right amount of work on it and didn’t have much gold! It also was the perfect shade and we customized the dupatta to make it pink to match Jaydeeps outfit because I didn’t want us to be too “matchy-matchy” with us both doing red.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
When my husband told me I could do whatever I wanted with the decor since this was my expertise! Lol

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Our guests loved our decor and how we managed to match our outfits so well!

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Honestly, just have fun with each event. It goes by so quick and don’t worry about outside comments or critiques. Just make sure to have fun at every event because this day will never come again.

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
My mehndi outfit was designed by me and made in India. Our red bottoms were a great pop of red at our reception.

If you thought that this was beautiful, you will be thrilled to know that this is about to get better, so stick around for more!
