One of the main reasons why we have a special place in our heart for fusion weddings is because we enjoy seeing how these events mingle two cultures and two backgrounds together in a single love story. And Rashi & Tyee's wedding extravaganza is no exception! From the Baraat procession where Raja Tyee showed up in an elegant Sherwani, sword in hand, and riding a white decorated horse from Cindy Cinderella Carriages, to the big reception party, everything was beyond perfect! The big day arrived, and these lovebirds were more than ready to become husband and wife through a romantic Christian ceremony officiated onboard the Eternity Yacht. Although there was so much beauty all over the place, nothing compared to the drop-dead gorgeous look of our blushing Maharani Rashi. She trusted her fashion needs to Maya Collections and added an extra touch of traditional flair to her already fabulous look, with a spectacular Mehndi designed by Sabrina Gaur. The icing on the cake was the dazzling pieces of jewelry from Miss India Fashions' collection. And oh boy, they were something out of this world! Without any question, this was the magical wedding ceremony Rashi & Tyee always wanted. And we cannot get over the mesmerizing and enchanting way they complement each other! When you see them together, you can tell that they are soulmates meant to have an everlasting love story. But what we love the most is how the love that this two radiate is capable of sweetening up our day and melt our hearts! How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
I had an injured knee and had to get Physical Therapy. Going to my first appointment I did not think I had anyone to impress, let alone would meet my future husband!! I met my very handsome Clinic Director. His name was Tyee :) After receiving my PT treatment Tyee eventually discharged me. Things changed for us after that and we never looked back.
I can't tell you an exact day or incident where it all hit me that he was the one. It was more like a magnetic force that pulled me toward him from the start and no matter what, somehow, we would end up together. That turned into the deepest feelings I'd ever had in a relationship. And then, it turned into not being able to picture our lives without each other.
Looking back at everything from the start and how it all played out, it was totally meant to be. All of it, us both moving to that particular state for a short period of time, me getting injured, us meeting. It all makes sense now - he was the one :)
Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
R. Tyee's original plan was to take me on a hot air balloon ride, have me look down from the top to see the 8 ft x 12 ft banner he had gotten made that read, "Rashi, Will You Marry Me? Love, Tyee" and propose to me in the sky.
The day of his proposal, the hot air balloon company contacted him saying winds were high and the rides were cancelled. My older brother and his now wife came into town the previous day "for a visit".. but they were in town for the proposal!
After Tyee's initial plan was cancelled he took us all to gorgeous Mt. Charleston (Nevada) and proposed to me on top of the mountain. I was speechless when he asked me to marry him ...literally for about 5 seconds I didn't respond! Haha I was just in shock and was trying to figure out if this was all really happening! Of course, then I said yes and when I looked down at my finger I saw my dream ring but better!
After his beautiful proposal, he had reservations made at our favorite French restaurant. They.had set up our table and Tyee had a bouquet of my favorite flowers waiting at our table with a note. We all enjoyed mimosa and our delicious food.
That evening he took me to our suite at the Bellagio for a little staycation! We had dinner and champagne at a marvelous restaurant, watched the water fountain shows, had our photos taken and enjoyed complimentary treats because it was our engagement. I was on cloud 9!
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
I planned my wedding in just under 4 months! I definitely felt the pressure but I worked hard on our wedding plans everyday! I made myself a wedding binder which had dividers sectioning off different parts of my wedding. I’m a visual person so I had photos for reference, checklists and charts that I made, printouts of everything regarding budget, and much more. I had sections from what specific henna designs I would get - to our wedding colors - to what each person in our wedding party was wearing! It was all planned and organized. I’m also a huge list maker. I make lists for just about everything. I definitely did that during wedding planning too! Doing this and keeping notes and reminders will help bring structure to your planning.
My husband and I always wanted a short engagement. He proposed to me a week before I was had major surgery. I went into my surgery in a much better state of mind because of this. After my recovery I got to work and planned the wedding of our dreams!
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
For my white wedding dress, when I was younger I always dreamt of wearing a ballgown one day at my wedding. When I grew up I was very attracted to the mermaid style wedding dresses. But a beautiful white ballgown with a sparkling sequin bodice, sweetheart neckline and corset back stole my heart! It was simple but spectacular at the same time!
For my bridal lehnga, I've always been absolutely in love with the multi-colored styles and love jewel tone colors. My top 3 colors choices for my lehnga were multi-colored and then emerald green or royal blue if I couldn't get the design I wanted. People would tell me what's in style or make suggestions of what they thought I should wear but nothing really excited me and I knew what I wanted. My bridal lehnga that I wore at my reception was a gorgeous multi-colored Anarkali - Lehnga Choli. Everything about it I loved!
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
I enjoyed so many parts of our wedding planning. Viewing our venue for the first time, picking out the songs for each part of the ceremony and dances, coming up with special touches in our wedding to make things personal and unique, coordinating our arrivals - just getting things done and closer to the end result! As you get more things crossed off your list, you start being able to picture exactly what your big day will be like and you can see your vision come to life!
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Our wedding was on a stunning 4-story yacht, so our guests definitely loved that. We kept hearing from guests throughout the night that it was the best wedding they've ever been to. Many people mentioned how they loved seeing such a diverse group of people in attendance and the beautiful display of the Indian culture.
Our wedding was a fusion wedding mixing Christian and Indian wedding traditions. So along with our elegant Christian ceremony, before our wedding we had our traditional Indian wedding arrivals; the groom arriving on a decorated horse and bride carried in a palanquin/doli. My doli was actually handmade by my husband! It was the prettiest mauve shade with gold accents and rose gold sequin veils draped on the inside! My wonderful brothers carried me in it to the entrance of our venue. This was one of the very special moments that our guests loved and continued to talk about!
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Honestly, I love reliving the entire thing! But, one precious moment I'll always love is during our ceremony. We wrote our own vows and didn't share them with each other until that day. When we were reading them, turns out we both actually had taken a line from one of my favorite movies (The Vow), and secretly added it into our vows for the other person. Tyee went first. I recognized the line right away and was shocked ..because little did he know, I was about to say the same thing! When I started reading mine, our guests realized that we both somehow thought of the same line to share in our vows at this special moment.
For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
For every event leading up to our reception, our color scheme was sage green and dusty rose with accent colors of rose gold and white. During dinner we had our first dance. Our first dance song was performed by my older brother, Romee, on the piano and Tyee's older brother, Brian, singing our song. It was simply amazing as the yacht sailed the harbor and we danced as husband and wife for the first time.
Afterwards, we enjoyed our delicious dinner and got to witness heartwarming speeches from my younger brother, Rajeev, my maid of honor/sister in law, Ashley, and Tyee's best man/older brother, Brian.
Our reception was on another level of the yacht and was full of the best music - a mix of all kinds including Bollywood, Bhangra, Pop, Hip Hop, and more played by our DJ. I wore my multicolored Anarkali - Lehnga Choli that I was so in love with and my beautiful chooda. Tyee wore his stylish blue and gold Sherwaani and gold turban. Our entire wedding party had changed into their colorful Indian attire as well and were ready to party! We also had a killer performance from our Bhangra dancer friends getting the crowd so pumped for the night. At our reception we featured "his/her" drinks and went with cupcakes in addition to our cake. Our cute cake topper was a silhouette of a groom romantically lifting up his bride as their two dogs sat beside them. This represented me, Tyee, our Bulldog and our Dalmatian :)
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Don't stress the day-of. That's the day you should be the happiest and not let small mess ups get in the way. Nothing will be 100% perfect. The most important thing is that the bride and groom show up and say "I do" :)
For example: I was incredibly happy on my wedding day! Nothing ruined my mood. We had our arrivals planned for outside before we got to the yacht. I was told the day before that there was a good chance of rain. People were worried I’d be upset about ruined plans. But I wasn’t! It didn’t affect my mood at all! I was ready to do it all in the rain if we needed to and I knew it would all still be so beautiful! I was still just as excited and happy. Rain did come on our wedding day, but miraculously, it rained a bit before our arrivals and a bit after everyone was already in the yacht! Not a single drop during our wedding arrivals!
Another thing to remember I'd say is to view this day as a celebration of the bride and groom's love and union. Because that's what a wedding is :) Viewing it as "the bride's day" or stressing over having "an event" to manage is not a good way to look at it in my opinion. It's not just one person's day and it's not just an organized function. Focus on each other and your love and nothing else will matter!
Lastly, start planning your wedding sooner than later! You'll thank yourself the day of!

The first day of our wedding weekend, we held my Mehndi Ceremony at a beach house in Newport Beach, CA. It was so much fun with families mingling, people meeting for the first time, friends uniting - this also was a great ice breaker for those that didn't know each other because at the wedding everyone was already friends and partied so hard together haha!
For my bridal henna, I always wanted the design of a groom on one hand and an Indian bride on the other. I got exactly that included in my fantastic henna designs. My awesome Mehndi artist also hid Tyee's name in my designs as traditionally done. It was so fun finding his name along with my friends and family. I had henna done on my hands and feet and Tyee got my name on his palm :)
My bridesmaids all got matching designs and they loved it. The night was filled with laughs, Bollywood music, drinks, food, tv, bonding and fun as our photographer captured all of these priceless moments!
It was all just so amazing and Tyee and I were so incredibly happy!
