Dearborn, MI Indian Wedding by Ravin Bhandari Photography

Feast your eyes on the beautiful Indian bride getting ready for her big day in Michigan, thanks to Ravin Bhandari Photography. Her traditional, bold makeup, filled with shimmery gold shadows & a ruby red lip, is beautifully executed by Todd's Room - who also styled Jaya's hair. I love the choice of the ruby & gold jewels she went with, which doesn't overpower her look, just compliments it. Frontier Raas was her one-stop shop in India that she found her red, gold & green lengha in. In fact, it was the very first lengha she tried on. Love at first fit is what that's called, ladies! As the bride gets ready, we see the man of her dreams being welcomed in at the baraat. The big moment is nearly approaching, but until then, see more of this special moment in the gallery!

From the bride, on the proposal:

"Vivek and I knew each other for almost 8 years before he proposed. I still can't believe he managed to pull of a surprise engagement! It started off about 5 months before the proposal: without telling me, he flew to Michigan to formally ask my parents for my hand in marriage. Fast forward 5 months: I traveled to Florida for a weekend to spend time with his family. Little did I know that his entire family was in on this secret. His mother insisted that Vivek take me to the Harry Leu Gardens in Orlando to see the special Azalia exhibit. We walked around the gardens until we reached what he called "lucky spot." He told me to make a wish, and then he got down on one knee and said, "you know what i wish for? I wish that you would marry me." Totally stunned, i replied "of course!" Then i saw cameras and found out that our entire trip in the Gardens was being video and audio recorded. Vivek had hired Alex and Samm from Imprint Cinema to capture our magical moment. In fact, he had spent several hours with them the weekend prior scoping out the perfect spot for our engagement memory checking out various sites in Orlando and preparing a special video. After this surprise, we went to dinner at Jiko restaurant. Still surprised by the earlier events, I was even more shocked to see my parents, sister, his parents, brother, and grandparents waiting for our arrival! It was an amazing weekend and memory that we shared with our whole family, just the way we would want it to be."

On the lenghas:

"Just like with the hairstyles and makeup, I looked at hundreds of lenghas in Indian bridal magazines and on Pinterest. I knew that i wanted a very traditional RED look, like Aishwarya Rai in Jodha Akhbar. I wanted a classic touch with golden embroidery and pearls, not the super shiny "diamond" look. on the first day we arrived in India for our shopping trip, we went to Frontier Raas - South Extension in Delhi. I was overwhelmed with the hundreds of beautiful lenghas they had on display as soon as we entered the shop. They were all so much more elaborate and vibrant than the ones I had saved on my iPad. Believe it or not, the very first lengha I tried on was the one I ended up choosing for the wedding ceremony, and the second one for the reception (after spending hours trying on others of course)!"

Livermore, CA Hindu-Christian Fusion Wedding by Wedding Documentary Photo + Cinema

Wedding Documentary Photography & Videography brings us a captivating collection of outdoor portraits featuring Puja and Delaney in their dual ceremony and reception fashions! First off, I must say that this truly is a magnificent looking couple! Maharani Puja's breathtaking pink and green ceremony lengha along with the stunning blue and purple reception look, are by AsoPalav. Both of these colorful styles look spectacular on Puja's medium skin tone, and I adore the side-swept hairstyle by Christal Clear that Puja rocks for her reception. Then there's the beautiful white wedding dress by Allure Bridal she wears for the Christian ceremony. You know I live for a long train! And ladies, how perfect does her Maharaja look in each of his perfectly-coordinated ensembles?! These two are a perfect match! If you haven't had enough of this dashing duo, make sure to visit the gallery for even more fashion portraits!

Livermore, CA Hindu-Christian Fusion Wedding by Wedding Documentary Photo + Cinema

Hey dolls! Today, I'm going to share with you a fabulous Hindu-Christian fusion ceremony, that takes place in Livermore, California, courtesy of the awesome photographic skills of Wedding Documentary Photography & Videography! Following the celebratory fun at the mehndi, Vidhi and sangeet ceremonies (which were respectively catered by Chipotle, the Swaminarayan Temple and Bombay Garden), we get a sneak peek at the gorgeous bride getting ready for her big day! I love that Maharani Puja went with a stunning pink, green and gold lengha by AsoPalav — rather than the traditional red and gold. And those hot pink shoes are fierce! Gotta respect a bride who dares to be different! Christal Clear gives Puja a flawless look with shimmery gold and brown shadows highlighted with a touch of pink above the crease. Her beautiful hands and feet are decorated with a magical mehndi design by Henna-World. There's so much more to come, including the groom making a grand entrance with the help of none other than the amazing Vintage Carriage Company, but for now, check out even more getting ready images in the gallery!

From the bride, on how they met:

"My Raja and I met in the Spring of 2016, on the gorgeous Caribbean island of Grenada. We were both in medical school at the time and were introduced to each other through mutual friends. After moving back to the US, Delaney and I were not living in the same state, but after two years of long distance dating, our careers brought us together again when I moved to Michigan to start my residency. I knew Delaney was "the one" when he met my parents for the first time. As an only child with very protective parents, this was the first guy my parents."

On the proposal:

"Delaney and I went to Washington D.C. for a little getaway (actually, he had to be in town for a work conference and I decided to tag along). We spent the few days we were there sight-seeing and enjoying the beautiful spring weather. On my last night in town, unbeknownst to me, he had planned a romantic proposal. We had just finished dinner and Delaney insisted we go see the Washington Memorial at night. While taking some selfies in front of the memorial, out of nowhere, he got down on one knee and proposed to me. I was in complete shock. Total awe. So much so, that I forgot to say 'yes.' Thank goodness the few onlookers standing at a distance reminded me that I needed to tell him that I would marry him. We were even fortunate enough to have captured the special moment on our camera, definitely a moment that will be remembered for a lifetime. And the trip back to the hotel after the proposal was probably the 2nd most memorable part of the evening, because as soon as he proposed, it started pouring rain. We ended up walking for miles back to our hotel, drenched but as happy as could be."

On the fashion:

"I tried to keep an open mind when it came to my wedding and reception lenghas, especially since I only had two weeks while in India to pick my outfits. I knew I didn't want a traditional red lengha for my wedding ceremony, so this made the task of finding a lengha even more challenging. We ended up finding my wedding lengha on my first day in India and found a beautiful sherwani for my Raja that matched it perfectly! Even after all of the internet browsing beforehand, the lengha that I picked was not something I would have ever been able to find online and was a one-of-a-kind piece that I fell in love with."

On hair and makeup:

"I had a general idea of what I wanted but when I met with my hair and makeup artist, I came in with an open mind. She had a chance to get to know my style based on a few ideas I threw out to her, and the rest was all her! Christal was phenomenal. She was able to create the perfect look for all of my events without making me feel or look unnatural. I cannot imagine having worked with anyone else, she was so easy to work with and made that part of the wedding planning process a cinch."
