The highly-killed artists from Henna San Diego show us their gorgeous mehndi work courtesy of today's Maharani, Punam—while she gets ready for her big fat Indian fusion wedding taking place at the lush Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines in Southern California. We've only just began this bridal adventure so stay tuned for more of this inspiring ceremony and reception meticulously planning and design by none other than Lavish Wed (Weddings & Event Design). From the bride, on how they met:

"We met at a friend's wedding over 5 years a go. One of our first conversations was regarding Tiramisu and strawberries.. We both love food and it is not surprising that food encompassed our first conversations. We both knew that our relationship was special from the start."

On the proposal:

"My husband had our friends come together to our home. We had a few friends from out of town. He pretended that it was just a casual dinner get together. I remember he started to make a speech and I had no idea of what was happening. I was initially standing next to him and started to walk away thinking, "Why is this crazy man making a speech for our friends". He grabbed me and then kneeled down on one knee. All I could says was "Now?". He said, "You would make me the happiest man alive if you would marry me". I was no surprised that it took me a bit to answer. Well when I said yes, my husband did not hear me since he was so nervous. We just stayed in place for a while looking a bit confused. Then he realized that I did say "yes", when our friends started cheering and he tried to figure out which hand to place the ring. He was pretty nervous. We figured it out eventually and the rest is history..."

On the fashion:

"My father went on a trip to India. He decided that he really wanted to bring back our wedding clothes, and asked me if he could choose our outfits. I was overwhelmed that he wanted to pick out our wedding clothes. He picked out our Indian outfits along with the Indian clothes for my mother, sister, and brother in law. He also picked out and brought back our wedding invitations and wedding favors. He did an extraordinary job and it meant a lot to the both of us. Ill always remember that he took the time and effort to do so much with love for us."
