CONTEST ANNOUNCEMENT!

I know we just finished a contest last week, but this one is SO good, I couldn’t wait to share it with everyone.

All you Maharanis know me, I am all about the wedding details.  More often than not, the most fun and creative places for these details get pushed aside toward the finals weeks before a bride's wedding day because there is literally zero time. Well, we have an awesome giveaway for everyone today that will fit any bride's wedding style. And, since the overwhelming gift at Indian weddings is money, the prize is practical too!

The ladies over at Creative Custom Card Boxes have generously donated a $150 gift certificate to be used for any of their boxes! That is enough dough for one of their large 4 tier babies for absolutely free!

I just love these wedding cake boxes!  They are adorable, and I know that guests will literally want to eat them up! As their name says it, these boxes are fully customizable and come in a bunch of sizes, shapes, colors, and designs. They are totally cool.

So, here is what we want.  We want to see the sweetest picture of you and your hubby-to-be.  Mrs. Maharanis may enter as well since these would be the perfect addition to any baby shower or child's birthday party too! So, send over your entry to contests@maharaniweddings.com.  We will post the top 5 on April 9th and we are going to let our readers vote for their favorite picture.  Voting will close on Saturday at midnight PST, and the winner will be announced on Monday the 12th!

Ajalon Contest Winner...Announced!

The lucky winner of our Ajalon Printing & Design contest is Sita! Her choice of invite is inspirational to ANY wedding!

"The Lalita 2 design is rich and gorgeous! I especially love the Sanskrit meaning behind it of eternity, with the delicacy of the mandala design. I'm having a late fall wedding this year where earthy colors of rust and gold will go perfectly!"

Congratulations Sita and thank you Ajalon Printing & Design!

Color Trend : Lime Green

I had the pleasure of spending some time with the top floral designers over the weekend, and the hot topic amongst these trend setters is a lovely little color called lime green.  Lime green has energetic appeal and adds a bright, bold look to any wedding. But, for South Asian weddings it has a refreshing style that fits perfectly into your color palette.

Lime green is a versatile color, so there are a few different ways this bold color can be used….

For Fall brides : When paired with deep red, you will get a sophisticated look that is anything but boring.  The lime green adds some youthfulness to the burgundy’s elegance that definitely sets a romantic mood.

For Spring brides : Lime green paired with chocolate brown will have a warm woodsy feel to it that is perfect for any outdoor affair.

For Summer brides : Pair lime green with orange and lemon, and you have a colorful citrus palette that is full of energy.  A fun idea that I picked up is to use the fruit to further enhance your decor.  They can be used to decorate cakes, tables, and flowers!

For Winter brides : A fresh addition to white, lime green gives a vibrant life to an otherwise simple color palette.

Don’t be afraid to experiment with this color and I would love to know, which one is YOUR favorite?

Maharani unveils a new blog : R A N I S

There is quite the buzz around here today as I am thrilled to share with you our latest creation. Maharani Weddings has formed an elite team of R A N I S to bring you the step by step of their own South Asian wedding planning process. We hunted high and low to find the most stylish & most creative brides around. I am ecstatic that our R A N I S have decided to share there very special indian wedding and the ideas that go into planning them with you....

Today I would like to introduce to you Zen Rani:

Simply put my inspiration for my wedding is the ocean, nature and art. My fiancé and I both live in Chicago, and will have our wedding in LA - where I grew up. It's really important to me that we have all elements of nature centrally represented in the entire four day wedding - not just the ceremony itself. We are both artists so incorporate art thematically is critical for both of us as well.

I have been on the planning road since August, and I'd like to think that I have come pretty far along! But, no bride should ever think that this is an easy task - quite the contrary - it's daunting - fun - but daunting. My blogging has been so important for me since this journey began - it started with updating friends and family, and it quickly turned into advise and lessons learned for other brides that are on the same path. This is why I am ELATED to be a Rani....so I can share my experiences and hope that it offers even a morsel of inspiration and guidance to other brides!

Head over to R A N I S to check out more about our fabulous new featured bride to be and all of her South Asian wedding planning!  Enjoy!

Unique Indian Wedding Ideas For You!

Keeping a rational outlook on weddings is really difficult for a dreamer, like me, to do.  I mean, after all it is your one day?!  Well, it is one day, but what is healthy to remember (this applies to me) is that it is only ONE day.

So many brides, especially South Asian brides, want to tear their hair out and threaten to elope after a few weeks in the hot seat.  Instead of getting frazzled, I found this one of a kind way to put the enjoyment back into your wedding planning, and from my experience around the corner from your friend humor lives your other friend perspective…

MyCaricature.com will make a 100% customized caricature of you and your groom for your wedding day, and the results are hilarious, yet refined. This is not your big nose, bulging eye balls, look what I got from the circus caricature.  These drawings are done either by hand or digitally, and the artist have over 35 years of experience.  I think that this is an adorable Indian wedding idea for your save the date, wedding invitation, or my favorite idea, your guest “book” board.

For the risk averse, MyCaricature.com will redraw the caricature (at no extra cost) as many times as needed until you are satisfied with the result, or we will refund the amount you paid for your order if you wish so.  I mean, how great is that?!

MyCaricature.com is giving Maharani Weddings readers an exclusive discount.  Reference the coupon code "2PPL" and you will receive a $20 rebate!  I might just have to order one for my husband as our anniversary present this year!
