From the bride:

"I went to Mumbai for two weeks to do all my shopping for the wedding. Since I knew my time was limited and I was adamant that I only buy outfits that needed at most minor alterations, I made sure to do a ton of research beforehand. I spent months looking up designers and reaching out to stores so by the time I left for India I had a spreadsheet with 20-25 stores and designers grouped by neighborhood. I wanted each outfit to be different in terms of color, embroidery and style. After all my searching I bought my sangeet outfit from Sheetal. I loved the unique blouse and back and the bright blue color. I bought my wedding outfit from Aza because I fell in love with embroidery all over the blouse and lengha. I had the dupatta dyed red to contrast with the bright hot pink of the lengha. The high point was finding my reception outfit at Sabyasachi. It was actually the first outfit I purchased and I knew it was the one the moment I put it on. The designer himself was at the store and helped me choose the outfit. It's a memory I will keep forever."

See you at the ceremony, dolls!

From the bride, on wedding planning:

"It was challenging because I was in Chicago, my fiancé was in Florida and we were planning for a wedding in NY. I enjoyed the time I got to spend with Mark. We had so many great ideas that we combined together and seeing the end-product of over a year of planning was magical. It made our wedding truly special."

Just like at the Akbar Restaurant, these newlyweds bring down the house at the reception with Magic Mike DJs playing the best tunes!

From the bride:

Our proposal took place on Christmas morning, which happens to one of my most favorite holidays of the year, so that made it special for me. We both really care about our families and the nicest part was that both sets of familes were there when it happened.

More than that, one of my biggest dreams to have an event on a boat was fulfilled that following summer. The groom's family hosted a 2-day engagement out in San Francisco. Our families officially announced our engagement with a traditional Indian ritual and ceremony, giving the couple's extended family the opportunity to meet and greet one another. The day following this event was full of joy and celebration as the Jain and Shah family, along with their closest friends, boarded an elegant boat and cruised the San Francisco Bay!

On her bridal fashions:

I had my Engagement, Sangeet and bridal lengha customzie designed by Shyamal & Bhumika. I knew what I wanted when I got to India but now it was a matter of creating these visions I had in my head. Shyamal & Bhumika along with their teams spend hours with me drawing and creating the look I had in mind. It took a few months to create these outfits exact looks but when they were done they turned out perfectly as desired.

For my Engagement party on the boat I wanted an indo-american lengha, with a little vintage touch to it. The top was a corset and bottom skirt was really full.

For my Sangeet I wanted to wear a modern pakistani sharara. So they made me a bottom sharara out of velvet.

For the wedding ceremony I always wanted to wear a pink lengha. They used a dark pink with a light pink to create this princess lengha for me. I had asked them to put a bridal train on the back part of the lengha. I also asked for a 2nd duppta as my veil and especially requested a crochet border to sit on my head.

For the reception I wanted to try another designer and I was on a special hunt for English style ball-gown, I'm a huge fan of Kate Middleton hence my bridal shower was a High Tea Theme event. Well when I walked into AZA on Juhu Tara Rd. in Mumbai I saw the perfect red ball gown I had always envisioned. As soon as I put on this Anamika Khanna piece my mom was in tears, it fit perfectly like a glove and we knew this was the outfit! At the time I didn't know who Anamika Khanna was but later on I found out she is a famous stylist and designer for Bollywood actress.

On planning the wedding:

We chose the weekend of Thanksgiving in 2013 to have our wedding in NJ. I thought the fall would be the best season to get married as our clothes are so heavy and hard to wear in the hot weather in the summer time.

Our Wedding was at The Grove in Cedar Grove in NJ.

Our Sangeet was at the Renaissance Woodbridge Hotel in NJ. I wanted to make the Sangeet all about our family, since the wedding day would be all about Asheesh and I. We created a mela like feel with different live food station and gave them personal names by using our parents along with our niece and nephew's name. We had a vendor come in to do live sugar cane juice. Another station was for the guest to get mehndi done I used Amreena from Dulhan Mehendi for mine and everyone else's mehndi. We had a live band come and sing the lead singer of the group was Suma Nair, she did a rendition of Lata Gee.

My wedding jewelry all could tell a story of their own. Over the years my mom had been collecting my wedding jewelry, as she knows I adore antique traditional jewelry pieces. So some sets were bought from Mumbai, Jaipur and Ahmedabad. The most precious jewelry I was given to wear for the reception was from my mother-in-law, they have the most beautiful family tradition in that everyone who got married wears our grandmother's jewelry which is about more then 60 years old but the most alluring and dazzling set I've worn. The sentiment of this family set had it's own charm and beauty attached to it."

Come right back, darlings, because the main event is about to begin!

From the bride: "My Grandmom wanted me to get married in this one special Gurdwara in Delhi but since she passed away years ago and my whole immediate and extended family moved out of India, we decided to have our wedding in Toronto. But since I wasn't going to do my vows in our special Gurdwara, I decided to have an outdoor Sikh wedding. That gave birth to my summer dream wedding.
The summer theme inspired us to do the decor in pink hues with soft whites everywhere. And when I found my perfect wedding outfit to be in pink as well, I knew it was meant to be :)

[What I enjoyed about the planning process was] the quality time I got to spend with my family and friends.I didn't hire a wedding planner and did everything on my own.The venue hunting was so much fun (at times stressful!) with my fiancee...with outfit hunting with my family to doing the decor with my friends. It was an amazing experience all together!

[For my lengha] I had spent hours researching on what I wanted my wedding lehnga to look like but when I went to Delhi to do my wedding shopping, nothing that the stores had made the cut for me.
After a week on the hunt, I decided to design my own lehnga. Since I was blessed to have family members as fashion designers, it was a dream come true to have a dress designed just for me."

This dream wedding is about to begin! Come right back!

From the bride, on her wedding fashion, "All my outfits were designed by Neeta Lulla. I met her personally in Mumbai and she designed all my outfits right in front of me! We just decided to go to her studio shop in Mumbai (without an appointment) to look around and to my surprise she was there that day helping actress Hema Malini plan for her daughter's wedding. So we approached her and she was very kind and agreed to meet with me. It was pure luck that she was at her shop that day. And I got to meet Hema Malini too :)"

How awesome! Can't wait to see the rest of this Maharani's style! I'm gonna sneak a samosa from Moghul Caterers before I head to the next event! BRB!
