From the bride, on the wedding style:

"To be completely honest, I went into the planning process with a blank mind. I knew I wanted to stay away from pinks (yes, I don't like pinks). I also knew I really like the earthy/branchy/rustic look. From there I went Pinterest crazy. From branch centerpieces, to huge trees, I finally started to figure out what I wanted the wedding and reception to look like. We initially started putting some of these ideas together in September, and the wedding was in March. Of course there were constant changes and adjustments, but the day of wedding everything looked beautiful."

On the lenghas:

"I always knew I wanted a traditional lengha for my wedding, so that definitely made the process a bit easier. I stuck with the white and red combination. We went to India for all our shopping because it was much better for our budget, and we had many options to choose from. I did not previously spend to much time on the Internet looking at styles. I got lucky because the first store we went to in India, I ended up finding my wedding and reception outfit there."

On friends and family helping:

"I have a very large family here in Southern California, so I had a lot of help with anything that was needed. My mom was the head of the planning process, so she would have her detailed excel sheets ready to assign people their tasks. My creative cousin Shaina had spring break the week of the wedding, which was perfect because she helped me with table numbers, signs, and just making things look extra special. We had a lot of family coming from out of town, so my dad and all the boys were in charge of picking up everyone from the airport and making sure they were comfortable. The whole wedding event could not have been possible without our wedding planners Neha and Amanda from Blue Lotus Insights. They were always there making sure everything was on track and exactly how we wanted it."

The reception is still ahead!

Grand Cayman Indian Destination Wedding by Z Molu Photography

We've finally reached the momentous occasion of the lovebirds uniting in holy matrimony, courtesy of Z Molu Photography! As the blushing bride walks down the elegant staircase of The Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman Great Lawn in her lovely lengha, we see the groom patiently waiting to be wed at the regal mandap. You can just see all the love in his eyes as his Maharani puts the ring on his finger. Such a sweet and tender moment that's beautifully captured on film! Her mendhi design, done by Shilpa Tagalpallewar, looks so intricate and elegant. As newlyweds, I'm sure these two partied all night long to the musical stylings of Empire Entertainment! And I must say, everyone (including me) needs to visit the Cayman islands just so we can see the best of what the Carribean has to offer! I must relive every moment in this gallery!

How adorable are these flower girls? Total show stoppers! There are SO many things that I love about this wedding…the venue, Ruchey’s bridal lengha, but most of all I absolutely, positively, ah-dore this mandap.  Entangled in palm trees, with clean, modern style, this mandap still maintains Indian roots while blending into the outdoor surroundings fabulously.

Much more coming up tomorrow, so stay tuned!

Featured Indian Wedding : Sonal loves Amrish, II

Anytime you put the words Ritz Carlton in front of Laguna Beach you know you are in for a real treat. This venue is nothing short of utterly gorgeous, and the clear day literally makes the photographs take my breath away.  But, and this is a huge but, the thing that makes Sonal and Amrish’s outdoor ceremony insanely beautiful is the edited eye of Smita Mothindra, from Ethnic Essence.  There are two things that cause the uber- impact. The first is the unique color palette of orange and blue that ties in so well to that big, blue sky meets clear, blue ocean background. And, the second is the detail.  From start to finish our bride, Sonal, & her planner/designer Smita, infused orange into every important little detail.

From Smita : The perfect orange sunset over calm blue waters with gentle white surf was the inspiration for Sonal & Amrish’s ceremony. The beauty of this outdoor setting was that the Mandap was completely in-sync with the surrounding environment.
The orange embellished draping was stunning against the perfect blue sky while the open design welcomed the sight of the gentle waves in the background.

Don’t you just love this get away Lamborghini?! And, it is in orange, of course!  As fast as that car is, Amrish will have to wait until tomorrow to take his bride away on Maharani!
