It was a very cold Sunday night in December of 2008, when I met my husband.
My good friend and Sahil’s friend were dating and one night my friend thought it was a good idea for me to meet Sahil and after some thought, I agreed. A place and time were set and we met at Chinese Mirch in NYC on December 7, 2008. The moment I walked in, Sahil really didn’t say much. I could tell he was very shy and quiet. I did most of the talking that night but on our first date, Sahil became a bit more open and started to initiate conversation. I realized that night that he is a sweet and humble person. As time went on, Sahil and I learned more about each other and became closer. As our relationship developed, we knew that this was it, and there was no other person we wanted to be with. We wanted to be together forever.
One day Sahil said he was in the mood for Indo-Chinese, and there happened to be one restaurant in the city that he could think of, Chinese Mirch (the place we first met). Sahil said he would take me there for dinner and that afterwards we would go meet up with some friends. After dinner, he suggested we go on our regular stroll alongside the Hudson River, since it would be the last walk before winter hits. These walks became my favorite thing to do in the city. As we walked down to one of the piers, Sahil had asked me if there was enough time to plan a summer wedding. I looked at him confused and told him that I didn’t know what he was talking about. Then he took out a little black box out of his pocket and got down on one knee. He asked me to marry him and I accepted. On Friday, October 1, 2010, Sahil and I were engaged.
