Good morning to all my gorgeous Maharanis! I am eager to share the magical day of Christine and Rajesh's wedding with you. This lovely couple decided to say "I do" at the breathtakingly Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul. The beautiful architecture of the place and their loved ones' presence combined to create one of the most romantic settings I have ever seen. And not to mention the reception! The elegance and traditions are undoubtedly one of my favorite things about this celebration. Our newlyweds decided to have a captivating bash at Crystal Team Room- Finley Catering. It was an enchanting venue straight out of a fairytale! Christine, our dear bride, went for a lovely white dress from RK Bridal and her charming prince, right by her side, wearing a stylish suit. And let me tell you, girls, they looked perfect! The gracefulness of her attire was the ideal match for the heavenly decor provided by Florista Decor, with a beautiful mix of delicate flowers and golden embellishments. The ambiance was precious and magnificent, and I think the whole event seemed like the most fantastic event of the year! The joy is remarkable in everyone's smiles, and I applaud the extraordinary setting Luxe Event Group gave our lovebirds. Their brilliant entertainers demonstrate their expertise and enthusiasm through their work, making a lasting impact on the couples' guests. It was undeniably an unforgettable celebration, immortalized in a sweet set of pictures captured by Studio KSD and their incredible team. Maharanis, we have created a dashing gallery for you to be inspired! I am sure you'll feel the love radiating through every picture!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Funny story- we met on Tinder when I was in New York for a winter break during law school. The next day I returned to Washington, D.C.! We started talking and the conversations were effortless. Turns out we crossed paths throughout our life but ended up meeting on a dating app. We were both from the same small city in New York, we both went to the same middle school, he was in my best friends class, and I went to high school with his brother. We texted for months but did not have a chance to meet in person until one day Rajesh drove all the way from New York to D.C. for a 2 hour date. That's when I knew it was true love. He is the soul you read about in fairytales. He is the kind of person who makes your life better. That's how I knew he was the one.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
On our second date, I took Rajesh to see the D.C. monuments at night. I convinced him that there was no better time to see it than when all the tourists were gone and when all the selfie sticks weren't in sight. As we sat there, on our second date, I became emotional on the Lincoln steps about how much history happened there. Somehow he didn't get scared off at this history nerd having a moment. Three years after that first date my now sister in law decided to tell us she was planning a trip to DC. As the DC enthusiast I was, I sent an itinerary right away with all my favorite things including the monuments at night. Little did I know it was Rajesh's ploy to propose to me at my favorite spot. She then invited me to come on their trip and I suggested we make a siblings trip out of it. Jokes on me. The trip "I planned" had already been planned out by Rajesh. As I am leading everyone up the stairs to the Lincoln memorial, my favorite monument, the people start to move aside. I look down and there Rajesh is on one knee. I was FLOORED. Before I could say yes, my friends and cousins run out from behind the pillars screaming in excitement. Rajesh knew how important it was for me to have my loved ones there and my loved ones all made the trip out to D.C. to be there! The next day, Rajesh had our parents and family come down for an amazing brunch at my favorite D.C. restaurant. I replay that weekend over and over in my head.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
I constantly hear about un-involved grooms but that was never the case here. Rajesh is a perfectionist and artist. He knew from the beginning that he wanted to make our wedding perfect. He spent months researching perfect venues and unique experiences for our big day. That somehow had us end up in Philadelphia, a city neither of us lived in. We fell in love with Crystal Tea Room for its history and beautiful aesthetic. But what sold us? THE FOOD. We are huge foodies and we were able to custom make our entire menu. The other vendors fell in love quickly. We met Aji from Eventify and knew right away that he was the wedding coordinator for us. His ability to be on top of things and connect with people made him perfect for the job. We went with Florista for the decor because they understood we wanted an aesthetic that was timeless and natural. Shades of gold and white with romantic candles everywhere. Hair and make-up was easy in that Cinderella Bridez was the only company I contacted. I loved that they made you look like a better version of yourself, not a completely unrecognizable bride. Bhargavi worked her magic and I could not be happier. Photography was something we struggled with for some time. We wanted a mix of romantic, dark, light, impromptu shots, and everything in between. Studio KSD nailed our dreams. Planning was stressful due to the global pandemic but having a partner whose only goal is to make you happy made the process effortless. In a weird way, the pandemic gave us more time to celebrate our love. Our families threw multiple bachelorette parties, pre-wedding events, and random parties in between to make up for the loss of our first wedding.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I always had the image of being a classic bride. I wanted to look back at photos in 30 years and think to myself that I would wear those outfits again. I truly felt I accomplished that. I went to RK Bridal for my wedding dress and immediately Malak knew the aesthetic I was going for. She brought out a simple white, off-the-shoulder A-line gown, and I was SOLD. I started crying when I put it on and it was so confusing. WHY AM I CRYING? AM I ALLERGIC TO SOMETHING? No, I was just so overwhelmed that I had found the perfect dress. My bridal lengha story was even funnier. Let's rewind to February 2020, I am hearing of this thing called covid that is ravaging through China. I hope on the flight to India and think how bad could it really be? My mother-in-law packed me a few masks and I wore it on the flight thinking to myself "man this is super uncomfortable." We arrive in India and it's go go go. We are off to shopping for lenghas, sarees, wedding invitations, bridal outfits, and everything in between. I knew similar to my wedding dress, I wanted a classic lengha. I searched stores all through Kottayam and Kochi and finally found an off-white dress that weighed more than I did. But it was BEAUTIFUL. I bought it and it took up an entire suitcase on the way back.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part of the planning process had to be the food tasting and seeing all the venues. The different venues treat you like a queen and it's great.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
All we heard about was how great the food was. Our cocktail hour was something we put a lot of effort into. We had so many stations and so many different types of food! We had a New Orleans station with oysters shucked to order, crawfish mac and cheese, fried oysters, shrimp etouffee, and jambalaya. A Neptune station with lobster tails, lobster mac and cheese, mussels marinara, shrimp stir fry, and baby clams. A carving station with slow-braised brisket. A Mediterranean station with gyro, chicken souvlaki, different dips, grape leaves, flatbreads. A Marrakesh station with Moroccan spiced rack of lamb that was carved to order, chicken tagine, saffron couscous, baked white fish chermoula, spiced shrimp briouats. We had a slider station with all different types of sliders, brisket, braised Italian pork, mini Angus burgers, grilled portobello burgers, and truffle fries. For dinner we started with a lobster ravioli as the first course, guests could choose between duck, filet mignon, salmon, or a butternut squash and goat cheese ravioli. Following dinner, we had an entire room filled with desserts. An ice cream sundae bar, cannolis, sfogliatella, tiramisu, all different types of cake, all different types of pastries, coffees, teas, and dessert wines/liquor. In addition to our wedding cakes, After the dessert room, we had a "power hour" around 1 am during the after-party. Here guests could have Philly cheesesteaks, wings, fries, and other bar food.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
A really special moment that replays in my mind on the big wedding days is all the times Rajesh and I got to be alone. Whether it was for a few minutes or a half-hour. We took these videos on our iPhone after each part of the night (ceremony, entrance, cocktail hour, first dance, etc.) We talked about how we were feeling and what we were excited for. I can't wait to show our future kids the behind the scene videos.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Enjoy the process. It's never worth dressing for. DELEGATE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN. Teamwork truly made my dream work.

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
Fun fact: I am highly allergic to flowers and we had wood or silk flowers everywhere. All the bouquets were completely made of wood. No one even noticed!
Maharanis, this is all for today. Keep coming back for more romance!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
My cousin was friends with my husband for years in college before I met him. I used to always hang out with my cousin and his friends all the time but never met Kishan because he was in Boston for work. One day, my cousin says we are going out to dinner with his friends (very common). We get to the restaurant and there he is, I thought he was so cute when I first saw him but he wouldn't speak to me even though we were sitting right next to each other! Of course, later, I learned this is because he is very shy. From dinner, we decided to go out to a bar. I wanted a tequila shot at the bar and out of nowhere, Kishan says "I'll take the shot with you". Kishan did NOT like tequila at all. It was at this moment, his friends knew that he liked me. We went to the bar together to take the shot, we hit it off and the rest is history!
Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Kishan had moved to Dallas, TX a couple months before and we were long-distance at that time. I had come to visit him 4th of July weekend, my birthday is July 6th and he proposed on July 5th. He proposed to me the day before my birthday because he knew I wouldn't be expecting it. Summers in Dallas are HOT, it was 96 degrees the day he proposed. Kishan took me to a beautiful garden in Dallas called the Arboretum. He said he wanted to make a pit stop before our brunch plans. He was walking me to a specific part of the garden and the whole time I kept complaining about how hot it was and if we could skip this part and just go straight to brunch. When we finally got to where he wanted to propose, it was in front of a beautiful small fountain and he had set up a picnic blanket and pillows. I knew at that time but on the blanket was a puzzle he wanted me to complete (we love to puzzle). The puzzle said will you marry me? And when I turned around he was on one knee. After I said yes, our siblings popped out of nowhere and we celebrated with champagne, of course!
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
We always knew we wanted to do a destination wedding. We both have older siblings that already had the big local weddings so we wanted something with a more intimate guest list. When it came to wedding planning, Kishan only had one request - he always wanted to get married overlooking the water. Our next step was to book a wedding planner, we wanted someone who had a lot of experience in destination weddings and went with Sonal Shah of SJS Events. We wanted to book a venue on an island that many people hadn't been, somewhere guests would feel like they're getting a vacation as well. The wedding events were planned at night to ensure guests got the day to sleep in, relax, enjoy the beach, and explore the island. This is how we ended up with Marriott Curaçao Beach Resort, located on the island of Curaçao which is part of the Dutch-Netherlands ABC Islands (Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao). Once the venue was booked, we booked the rest of our vendors: Style by Susmita for hair and makeup, Alain Martinez for photography and videography, DJ Raj Gandhi for DJ and MC, a local company Confetti Company for decor, and a local company Massive Productions for audio and visual. Because the wedding was going to be intimate, we wanted to incorporate a lot of small details and experiences for guests. We made welcome bags that included everything from personalized hangover kits with liquid IV, hand sanitizer, and Emergen-C to personalized do not disturb door hangers, Indian snacks, local snacks, and small blue Curaçao bottles. We had a sunset wedding on the beach and once it got dark, we incorporated fireworks which was a nice surprise factor for our guests. There were his and hers personalized scents as a final party favor at the reception. And finally, one of my favorite moments of the weekend is when we decided to forego a traditional cheer at the reception and did tequila shot cheers with everyone instead to commemorate the first time we met. Throughout the planning process, the hardest part was not being able to go to India and working around the pandemic fluctuations, especially with a destination wedding. We had to work around the clock and back and forth via WhatsApp with many vendors in India for our outfits, favors, invitations, jewelry, and other small details. Despite the struggle, we were both extremely happy with how everything turned out.
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I wanted to definitely go the traditional route and wanted an all-red outfit. I found a Kolkata-based designer named Pallavi Poddar on Instagram and absolutely fell in love with her Padma lehenga. I immediately reached out to her via WhatsApp and through video/messaging, I finalized my outfit. When I received my outfit, I could not be happier. The work was so intricate and beautiful, and the outfit fit me like a glove.
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part of the planning process was the decor. I am very creative and love to think of outside-the-box ideas. My decorator and I had a very collaborative experience. I was hands-on with many aspects of the decor including the floor plans, lighting, seating chart display, signage, etc. It was especially gratifying seeing it all come together.
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
They loved the relaxing atmosphere of the wedding. All of the events were in the evening so our guests got the chance to explore the island, relax on the beach/by the pool, and enjoy their vacation during the day. We provided breakfast, lunch, and of course dinner every day during the wedding weekend, so they didn't need to go too far to find food.
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Our first look. Kishan's sister tested positive for COVID the day of the wedding and could no longer be apart of any wedding festivities. It was a very emotional time for all of us as we were getting ready and an especially tough time for Kishan as his one and only sibling would not be able to attend his wedding. There were so many times I wanted to just go and see him but I knew I couldn't. When we finally saw each other for our first look, it was a mixture of so many emotions and we both had tears of happiness and sadness. But it was also that moment that we knew we only needed each other to get through life's happiest and saddest moments.
For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
The sangeet was a poolside event, and I immediately knew I wanted the stage to be built on top of the pool. Guests would have the unique experience of being on a dance floor in the pool. We centered the rest of the decor around that. The decor was rust pink and yellow, very boho chic with string lights. The reception was conversely very romantic and glam. The color theme was red black and gold, with lots of red roses and candles lighting up the room. The cocktail hour was in an outdoor courtyard with the seating chart engraved in round wooden boards hanging from the trees, there were also twinkle lights hanging from the trees. For our first dance, we decided to do a mix of songs but we started off with a salsa number to Señorita by Shawn Mendes & Camila Cabello which was SO fun to learn!
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
So much stress and pressure are put on ensuring everything is perfect but things may not go exactly according to plan. At that moment, remember that things have a way of working out, what's meant to be will happen and in the end, you're going to look back at your wedding as a really special moment in your life. And don't forget to be in the moment and have fun!
Maharanis, come back tomorrow for a new love story!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
We met in June of 2017 in our dental residency program in Brooklyn. A few weeks into our residency program, the two of us decided to plan a last-minute happy hour one day with our co-residents. Everyone seemed to "conveniently" be busy that day and it turned into both of us going to happy hour on our own for a night of bar hopping and dinner. That was the start of our friendship which eventually led to something more 1.5 months later after our countless hangouts as friends and both of us realizing we wanted more.
Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
On a rainy day in January of 2020, Tushar brought me back to Brooklyn and proposed in front of the bar where we had that first happy hour. When we got back to our apartment, both of our families were waiting there to surprise us with champagne. Later that night he had an engagement celebration planned at a cute hotel in Brooklyn with the rest of our family and friends. While I had a little bit of an inkling about the proposal itself, the rest of the day was a complete surprise to me and was the absolutely perfect way to celebrate our engagement.
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Our wedding planning started off differently because of Covid. Originally we had wanted to have a bigger wedding with all of our extended family there but due to covid restrictions and everything being unknown, we had to be realistic and plan for a smaller wedding. Knowing all of that, we revised our venue to search to look for smaller venues. This ended up working out because we fell in love with our wedding venue at a winery out east on Long Island. We focused on booking all of big vendors early on and working out smaller details as we got closer to the wedding day. We had an awesome wedding coordinator who helped us throughout the process to coordinate everything. While we had a decorator handle everything for our ceremony and part of the reception, we have a lot of creative family members who added a special touch to our decorations. My cousin hand-carved the NYC skyline onto our gift card box which was done on a wine crate and also hand-carved the Ganesh which hung behind our mandap. My other cousins helped to make the frame for our seating chart and put together our centerpieces.
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
Because of Covid, I ended up doing all of my wedding dress shopping online and via Zoom calls to India. Because I had a pretty specific vision of what I wanted my wedding dress to look like (off-white with some floral print), it was pretty easy to select my outfit after them showing me a few options over Zoom. While it would have been nice to see the outfit in person beforehand, everything worked out great and I loved the way the wedding outfit turned out! I wanted to stay away from the traditional red and do something a little different. After picking my outfit, I knew I wanted to go with pastel colors for our bridal party.
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part of the planning process was seeing everything coming together and having our family there to support us and join us for all of the fun. Whether it was touring venues, food tasting, or doing the wine tasting at our venue, we had so much fun doing it all with our parents, aunts/uncles, and cousins there to join us.
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Our guests loved that the wedding was at winery since most Indian weddings are not able to be done at a venue like this due to capacity limitations. Because of covid, we were limited to the amount of guests we could invite in the first place and is the reason we were able to choose this venue. Our guests also LOVED the food from Moghul and to this day continue to talk about it.
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
While the overall day was special to us, the moments that stood out to me the most was being on the dance floor at the end of the night with all of our friends and families and having the best time.
For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
For decor, I had always pictured having a rustic theme which worked our perfectly at our venue since it was at a winery. Our decorator incorporated curly willow and greens on our mandap and did a pretty good job executing my vision. Our bridal party and family planned an awesome group dance.
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Just try and enjoy the day as much as you can! Don't get stressed out about little things going wrong because overall the day is going to be amazing.

Maharanis, this is all for today. Keep coming back for more romance!
