We've got a homerun for you today, Maharanis, and it comes courtesy of CB Art Photography & Cinematography! With bright tangerine setting the scene (thanks Baltimore Orioles!), lovebirds Binoli & Amit are posing in complementary colors and their smiles are beaming in the sunshine. The ballpark stadium may not be packed with guests but it's clear these two sweethearts are filled with love! As the sun begins to set it's time to switch into elegant evening wear (love the rich blue of her floorlength gown!) and pose for some more glowing engagement portraits. Our bride's loose locks fall in casual curls and every shot showcases her natural beauty—a total win! While this darling duo knocks it out of the park, I'll be taking notes on how to score such sensational style in the gallery!
From the bride:
"We will be having all of our wedding events except the reception in Southern California where I grew up. To keep with our Laguna Beach venue we are sticking to a chic and contemporary style for the actual oceanfront ceremony. The sangeet/garba will be a Morrocan theme and our Balitmore wedding reception will be full of urban glamour!"
On meeting her true love:
"Amit and I met 5 years ago through mutual friends—at a Bhangra Blowout after party when I was a senior at The George Washington University. The minute we met, we knew we were opposites but after our first date—which lasted over 11 hours—we realized that opposites really do attract like magnets :) I ended up moving back home to California after graduation, but Amit and I stayed in touch through long phone calls and emails. A job opportunity led me back to D.C. a year and a half later and Amit and I picked up right where we left off! We have known each other for over 5 years now and have been together for 3 and a half years!
When Amit and I met 5 years ago I had no idea that the funny (and slightly dorky!), handsome guy who wowed me with his dance skills would end up being my future husband! :) Amit and I met when I was in my second to last semester of college at the George Washington University. We started spending time with each other with our mutual friends and eventually that led to our first date—which lasted over 11 hours! I think that was my first inkling that he was 'the one.' I still remember that we kept thinking of new places to go in Georgetown until finally everything was closed and we were forced to end our date. This may be a good time to admit that I pretended to get 'lost' on our way back to my apartment just so we could have a few extra minutes together! (Amit may never let me live that down!)
It took another year and half and several moves on my part (from D.C. back to California and then to D.C. again) along with countless long phone calls for us to realize that we truly had something special that was worth holding onto. The long distance and both of our own life and career changes didn't stop us from staying in touch and slowly we started spending hours on the phone every single night, talking about everything and anything—looking back now that was a sign that we were meant to be and that cultivated friendship is what set our love on fire! Fate came calling and a job opportunity led me back to D.C.—Amit and I have been inseperable ever since!
Those who are close to us know that Amit and I are the perfect example of opposites attracting. It may sound cliche, but Amit is the ying to my yang—he balances me out and continously makes me a better and happier person. Not a day goes by where he doesn't put a smile on my face and he is my constant reminder to just slow down and enjoy life. With Amit, every day is an adventure and I cannot wait to go through the journey of life with him by my side!"
On her engagement:
"Amit proposed to me the day after Thanksgiving 2013—I spent Thanksgiving with his family and was getting annoyed that all his cousins kept teasing us about when Amit was going to propose! Little did I know that they were all in on the big secret that he was proposing to me the very next day.
Amit planned an entire whirlwind evening in Baltimore for Friday, November 29—a city where we have many memories from our early dating years. Amit got us a suite at the beautiful Hotel Monaco (a hotel we had driven past many times, and I had always wanted to check it out!) and then led me through a wine tasting, a trip to the Baltimore World Trade Center which has a 360 degree view of all of Baltimore and then to a 5-course tasting dinner at The Charleston. After dinner, Amit joked that since he had wined and dined me he was ready to go somewhere laid back and just hang out. I happily agreed, and we took a cab to Fed Hill Park. When the cab dropped us off in a residential area, I questioned Amit as to where the bars and lounges were in the neighborhood. He told me to come with him—it was a blistery night (note: I was in 4-inch heels!) and we climbed several flights of stairs until we reached the highest outdoor point in Baltimore. There, with the familiar city lights glimmering below us, Amit asked me to be his wife! Forget the negative wind chills—it was the most beautiful and memorable night of my life."
On her wedding style:
"We are having all of the wedding events in Southern California where I grew up, with a reception a few weeks later in Baltimore. The Sangeet is going to be a contemporary Morrocan theme—I specifically wanted vibrant colors. The wedding will be taking place in Laguna Beach so we are sticking with a very chic and minimalist style template—we don't want to take away too much from the beautiful surroundings/natural beauty. The Baltimore reception will be a fusion of old world glamour with contemporary touches.
I used a lot of Google image searches along with Maharani Weddings for much of my decor and style inspiration. I entered into planning mode already having my color schemes picked out, but it took some fine tuning to finalize all the stylistic details from centerpieces to the mandap to ballroom lighting."
On planning her wedding:
"I feel like this process has truly brought me closer to both sets of parents—Amit's and my own! We are fortunate that the wedding is truly a team effort and we are all in constant touch with each other about every detail. This has forged a great bond between us all -- although we may need to find a new joint family hobby after all the events are over!"
Come back tomorrow for another game-winning Indian wedding!
