From the bride, on how she met her Raja:

"Akil and I met in Ohio back in 2007. My family and I took a trip out to Cleveland for Reema's interview at Case Western. I should back track and say that Akil's mom and my mom were best friends growing up back in India, however, sadly lost touch after their respective marriages (moving to different continents in a time where cell phones weren't readily available and Facebook didn't exist, will do that ;).

They were randomly reunited at a mutual event several months prior to our visit and reconnected instantly. We went to Akil's house in Ohio during that trip and the minute we met, we knew there was something special. There was an unexplainable connection that just grew over time. We started as friends and let itbe known that Akil made the first move by texting me on new years eve (12 am sharp;))

From that moment on, we have talked in some shape or form everyday. From long distance (Ohio to Philly), we really got to know each other and quickly fell in love. And from there, the rest is history.

Where was your first date?

"Brio Tuscan Grille in Cleveland, Ohio: September 12, 2008."

How did he propose?

"December 8, 2012: Akil set up a Scavenger Hunt through Baltimore. It started off at Brio (where we celebrate all anniversaries and special nights) this time we were just craving some good italian food-- after the check was paid, Akil went to the bathroom and instead of coming back, the waiter brought over a rose and a hand made card which read 'Forever meant nothing to me.. until I met you.' The waiter told me that Akil needed to leave on a work related emergency and that there was a cab outside waiting to take me home.

From there the waiter led me outside to my 'driver' who turned out to be Nishant. He was dressed in a suit, carrying a name board with my name on it. I couldn't believe that he was standing there in front of me and that this was going to happen! From there, Nishant drove me to different locations around the city, where at each spot was one of our siblings carrying either flowers/candy or champagne and a clue to where Akil was.

I was so surprised and touched that they all traveled so far from out of town to be a part of this special day. The final destination was Akil's apartment. On the inside, the floor was covered in flower petals and the counter tops with flowers and candles. Akil was in the back of the apartment dressed in a suit, waiting for me. He looked as handsome as ever and I couldn't stop the tears in my eyes. There was a final clue on the table which directed me to press 'play' on the TV. From there, together we watched a beautiful slideshow that Akil put together for me. It highlighted us growing as a couple and how strong our love had become. When I looked up after the end of the slideshow, Akil was down on one knee with a ring in his hand. His proposal was so beautiful and I felt like the luckiest girl in the world. And oh ya, I said YES! After that, Akil had one last surprise in store…. He threw me a surprise party with all our family and closest friends. We celebrated the night away and it was the happiest day of my life! :)"
