Shehnaai Couture & Events has been an ultimate destination for South Asian bridal fashion in the U.S. for over a decade, and it's multi-designer studio on Manhattan's Fifth Avenue in New York is a Maharani's dream mecca for the most amazing wedding wears. Founders Sanjeev and Shirin Vinayak recently presented their Fall/Winter 2015, and Spring/Summer 2016, collections which featured looks from designers Bhanuni by Jyoti Sharma, Rabbani Rakha (from their India Fashion Week collection), Saanshé (from her Bridal Asia collection), Mitan Ghosh and Bubber Couture.
The runway was rich with a range of looks from jeweled-toned lehngas and kalidaars, to pastel dhotis with tail jackets and silhouetted gowns. Kanwal Batool and Sanjana Vaswani created gold rose hairdos and dusky eyes for the the rest of the fabulous females who rocked the looks for the over 350 guests in attendance at Pranna, which included celebrities like news anchor Joya Dass, comedian Anish Shah, actors Anaam Shahjahan and Ami Sheth and musicians Deep Singh, Falu and Meetu Chilana.
Walking in Saanshé's collection of lehnga sarees and kurtas were four empowering cancer survivors who had been glamorously done up by Lilly Rivera of BridalGal — and though Lily worked her hair and makeup magic, it was hard to ignore the beauty vibrating from within as the ladies made their way down the runway. The dresses these inspirational models donned were later auctioned off with the proceeds being donated to the American Cancer Society.
