For Shruti and Bhavin's nuptials, we are heading to a wildly popular location for Indian weddings, that's right, Somerset, New Jersey! Ami Video starts us off with an awesome outdoor first look photo shoot! Our Maharani looks radiant in her red lengha, with lovely hair and makeup by GlowZee! She is positively glowing in the natural sunlight with subdued eye makeup and bold red lips! Adding to her glamour is mehndi maven Mehndi Arts By Prachi with a beautiful mendhi design adorning our bride's churi'd hands! It's no wonder as to why her dapperly-dressed groom is all smiles in every candid shot! This darling pair says their I do's in an impeccably-planned ceremony by the amazing Event Nirvana inside The Palace at Somerset, where Elegant Affairs Inc. designs a regal mandap enveloped in glittering fabric flowing in shades of pastel! We've got more coming up, and with Moghul Caterers serving up the delicious treats, you don't want to miss a thing! But for now, see more memorable moments of this heartfelt ceremony in the gallery!
From the bride, on how they met:
"I met Bhavin (my raja) at his sister's place where I was invited for dinner in Oakland. We went out for dinner and he offered to give me a ride home to SF. On our way back home, we spoke about life, goals and general stuff. We pretty much concluded that we were black sheeps in our society because we don't believe in following society/community set protocols. That was it. I knew he was the one right there, Like Bhavin would say, "It felt right!"
On the proposal:
"(In only 10 days of knowing each other). After a day long date and just couple of meetings...we flew to New Jersey to meet each other's family...ROKHA (in other words engagement) Bhavin went down on his knee in front of everyone and boom, the next minute we see rings on eachother's hands."
On the hair and makeup:
"I had a look in mind for the wedding but was open for the reception, sangeet night. My hair and makeup stylist was super nice, she had amazing suggestions and I trusted her 100%."
On the lengha:
"I had spent hours on the internet but then when I went to India after 3 years and saw the latest styles. I was astonished and in first sight picked my clothes."
On the wedding style:
"Honestly, I started of with wanting a beach wedding in Hawaii with only 50 people but then when it came to really pinning down all of the details, it was more convenient to have a wedding with 200+ people with over 50 of them flying from India. Couldn't complain. I had no theme in mind but I did know that I did not want a typical wedding or reception where the bride and groom would stand on the stage forever and get pictures or the priest would say the manta's in a language that we didn't understand. About colors and inspirations: I must have put in hours and hours on websites such as Maharani, Pinterest, Knot etc to determine colors, themes, décor etc. I do have to say, our décor vendor "Elegant Affairs" made it super easy for us to bring the pintrest/wedding folder to reality."
On favorite part of planning:
"Love how close the family got. We had multiple groups for discussion about clothes, dance practice, travel to US and a lot more."
See the amazing reception fashion, next!
