The bride, on how she met the Raja of her dreams:
"We met on the dorm elevator during the first week of college at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. I was with my friends and he was with his. We were introduced by mutual friends. It would be a few years later that friendship turned into love."
The romantic proposal story:
"He was doing his residency training on the west coast. She was in Atlanta, Georgia, for her “friend’s surprise birthday party. Little did she know that there he was on the top floor of a penthouse on a beautiful Saturday night with Piedmont Park as the backdrop, candles and roses everywhere, a ring in his hands, and only one question on his lips. It was truly a night to remember, and celebrated with the most special of friends."
On choosing her dream wedding lengha:
"I always knew I wanted a red dress for my wedding. I began looking through popular southeast Asian wedding magazines for inspiration. I chose a beautiful emsemble from Samia Ahmed, a designer in Karachi, Pakistan. Akash’s outfits were also inspirations from wedding magazines. He chose a classic black sherwani as well as beige & gold sherwani made by Deepak Perwani and Amir Adnan."
Sit tight, Maharanis! You don't want to miss out on the most incredible ceremony moments, coming up next!
