From the bride, on how she met the Raja of her dreams:

""Amar Patel?" All the girls kept talking about this cute Junior guy named Amar, but I didn't understand what all the fuss was about. Or, at least I didn't back then. I remember seeing him around campus and studying at the library, but it wasn't until I saw his dance moves on stage when he really caught my eyes. We were at the first Pandemonium show of the year, and for those of you that didn't go to NYU, Pandemonium is NYU's fusion dance team. In spite of all the guys on stage and the excitement of their performance, I couldn't help but notice Amar through it all. For the first time, I realized what all the girls were talking about. From then on, when I saw him around campus or in the halls of the library, I started getting butterflies around him, and despite what I couldn't admit earlier, I caught myself starting to like him.
Before I knew it, we were chatting on AIM almost every night over winter break. When we got back to college, he invited me over to his apartment to have some home-cooked Indian food that his mom made. Did Amar just ask me out on a date?! Now, it's one thing to talk online and another to talk in person. Regardless of how excited I was and how much my friends tried to convince me to go, I was just too nervous and I had to say no! I guess he must have really liked me though because to my surprise, he asked me out again. And this time, I couldn't resist. After spending hours trying on different outfits and fixing my hair, Amar picked me up and took me out on our first date. We went to Cosi, where we shared not only s'mores, but stories, and although I didn't know it back then, we would continue to share these stories for the next 9 years. Through NYU and SGU, through all the ups and downs, through all the laughter and tears, somewhere along the way, we fell in love. I can't wait for us to share more stories to last a lifetime."

On her Raja's romantic wedding proposal:

"Yes! Amar surprised me with a weekend in the city! We stayed at a really cute boutique hotel in times square, spend the day at top of the rock and evening at the Brooklyn Bridge, where we did locks of love. We then went to a romantic dinner at The View restaurant which was absolutely stunning. I thought he was going to propose that night given all the surprises, but he didn't! The next morning, we took a carriage ride around central park and stopped near the bridge. And that was where he got down on one knee and proposed! Before I could even process anything, he insisted we make it to brunch at Calle Ocho, only to be surprised by 50 of our closest family and friends! It was the perfect weekend and I couldn't have asked for anything more."

On her wedding style:

"We went with a colorful, vibrant and bright decor for our garba, consisting of bright pinks, purples and blues. I knew that I wanted a romantic elegant look with pastels and florals. I went through numerous pictures on pintrist and various other websites although nothing was appealing. I worked closely with my decorator and came up with the most gorgeous mandap which included a pastel pink floral backdrop with en elevated ramp. Alongside the ramp were blush, pink and champagne flower arrangements lined with floating candles."

On shopping for her dream wedding lengha(s):

"I had looks for my garba, wedding and reception all planned out in my head although was having a hard time initially as I couldn't find anything! My garba outfit was magenta, blue and gold/silver and perfectly fit the theme I was going for. I wanted my wedding outfit to be as traditional as possible and decided on a red and gold outfit."

On her hair and makeup:

"I had the most perfect makeup/hair stylist. I worked with Bhargavi Patel from Cinderella Bridez. She did all of my looks including my engagement photoshoot. I did not have any particular hair styles in mind but I spent a lot of time working with Bhargavi finding the most perfect look. She chose hair styles that worked well with my face shape, jewelry and occasion. It was perfect!"
