Maharani Khushbu, on how she met the Raja of her dreams, Pratik:

"I met Pratik at his cousin's graduation party. At first, I was dumbfounded and a bit irate at the fact that he was there because of many attempts our families made for us to meet. However, he ended up approaching me and seemed very personable and easy-going. After that, our lines of communication stayed open and we continued to talk over the next several months until he finally built up the courage to ask me out on a date. That date was the beginning to our fairytale love story. We had planned to meet just for dinner but we both didn't want the night to end so we decided to go for coffee after as well. We felt the connection instantly and knew this was forever and the rest of it is history! He is my one and only true love."

On her Raja's memorable marriage proposal:

"I actually had no idea but he was adamant on proposing to me with the Empire State Building in the background. He ended up gathering a group of his friends on another friend's rooftops in New York City. Originally, we were just planning on having drinks with his friends and dinner afterward but he ended up taking me to the rooftop of one of their buildings. They all set up the moment with several other tenants on the rooftop as well just minding their own business. When we got there he ended up saying a bunch of sweet things to me and then finally got down on one knee and proposed. It was almost like paparazzi when all his friends and even the tenants started cheering and taking pictures of us. However, the best part was yet to come. He took me back to his friend's apartment in that building and had set up a Facetime/Skype chat with all my friends from Toronto. That was truly emotional as it meant a lot to me to share the good news with my friends and I love him for considering that part of the proposal. The second big surprise was having some family from Toronto come down and surprise me including my brother and close friends. The night continued on with dinner, drinks, and a night out on town. I will definitely not forget that date as I will cherish it forever."

On shopping for her dream wedding lengha(s):

"I had an idea of the type of outfit I wanted and took several pictures from the internet to shop in India. Without having the pictures and an idea, India definitely would've been a zoo. In such a limited amount of time, getting the most out of shopping in India was essential. I was accompanied by my mom and in-laws who also provided some guidance but having the idea in mind was the key component to getting all the right outfits. The additional part of the shopping was having to pick matching outfits for my husband which was a challenge as well. In the end, however, it all worked out and the amount of work put in definitely felt worth it."

On her hair and makeup:

"I definitely had a look in mind but I kept myself open-minded and let the makeup and hair stylist live in their element. The back and forth between myself and the stylists definitely helped create a style for hair and makeup that made even the style I had in mind so much more extravagant than I could've ever imagined."
