It's Friday, and I'm in love, Maharanis! Hitched Photo is sharing a gorgeous Pakistani wedding at the Hilton Palm Springs in Southern California with us today, and every single sun-drenched detail will take your breath away! The blushing Pakistani bride of the hour, Miriam, is getting ready to say I do to the Raja of her dreams, Reddhi, in a contemporary outdoor nikkah ceremony, and hair and makeup maven, Henna Dil Se, is there to make sure she looks flawless as can be from start to finish! Miriam enlisted bridal fashion designer, Élan, to create her stunning gold on gold wedding lengha, and her vintage jewelry set was passed down from her grandmother — and we are over the moon for it! These unforgettable first look photos of her and Raja Reddhi will delight your shaadi-lovin' hearts, and when I get back, we'll be diving heart first into the happy couple's nikkah and reception details! For now, make sure to fill up on even more getting ready and first look moments in the complete gallery!
Maharani Miriam, on how she met the Raja of her dreams, Reddhi:
"I met him 3 months after moving to Los Angeles. I didn't know anyone in the city, so was out & about often trying to meet people. Our 1st date was brunch overlooking the ocean - which then proceeded to a long walk along the beach (until sunset!), and then coffee and dessert. It lasted for over 6 hours!!! I thought, if I could talk to a complete stranger for 6+ hours, with no awkward silences, there must be something there!
Also, over the year before our engagement, he really encouraged and inspired me to get back to my career. I had taken a few years off for an illness in the family, but it was fortunately happily resolved. Reddhi encouraged me to found my start up, NowMoveMe, which now has been getting very exciting traction. He brought me back to life, which is the most amazing gift anyone can give you."
On Raja Reddhi's romantic proposal:
"The proposal was so special & perfect - he had all my favorite things ready - flowers, a chocolate cake from my favorite bakery, and Veuve Cliquot. I didn't know what was happening until I opened the cake box, & it read "Will you marry me, Miriam?" Then he got down on one knee. Heart melted! He also apparently used chocolate cake to "bribe" my dad when asking for my hand!"
On her wedding style and creating her dream wedding lengha:
"It all started with the dress! I wanted an east meets west dress, & I was fortunate enough to work with Elan, one of the top Pakistani designers, to achieve that with a light gold on gold look (which also perfectly matched being in a desert oasis in Palm Springs). The red color palate naturally came from there, the traditional wedding colors, which I incorporated through all red roses in the florals.
I had always loved Elan's work, and the designer happens to be a close family friend's niece - I was extremely fortunate that I was able to work closely with them to custom design my dream gown!"
On her hair and makeup:
"I wanted to keep my makeup fairly classic, with dark eyeliner and a red lip. For my mehndi, I was fortunate to have Nadia Ali's amazing Instagram feed for plenty of inspiration!"
On her bridal jewelry:
"The jewelry I wore was all antique pieces given to my mom by my grandmother- it was a special way to have her as part of my special day, since she had passed away a few years ago."
