Maharani Preya, on how she met the Raja of her dreams, Aditya:
"Adi and met when we were 14 and 15 at a religious camp. It was definitely not love at first site! Years went by and multiple AIM conversations occurred over dial up internet speed. It wasn’t until years later that we developed serious feelings for each other. I knew he was the one when I saw him interact with my family and realized that he fits in with them like pieces of a puzzle."
On her Raja's unforgettable proposal:
"Romantic was an understatement! I was visiting my sister in Charlotte when she said my brother-law-had surprised us with a Spa package at the Ritz (all planned by Adi). After a day of massages, mani’s and pedi’s, I was getting to leave the Spa when an employee handed me a rose and an envelope. It said something like “A special guest has arranged for you to enjoy a trip to the botanical gardens.” From there, it was a series of clues and letters and before I knew it a private driver drove me to the most amazing gardens in Charlotte. There I saw Adi with a big bouquet of roses smiling at me! It gets even better, he had a special note taped to each rose from all our loved ones including our parents, relatives, my best friends. I was already sobbing uncontrollably reading all there thought felt wishes for us but managed to pull it together when he got down on one knee. After the proposal, he surprised me with a beautiful dinner and in walks in my sister and her family and also my best friend and her husband! It was truly the best day I could’ve ever imagined."
On her wedding style:
"When I sat down to plan, I knew I wanted elegant events filled with florals and vibrant colors. I chose different palettes for all my events to keep it diverse. For the Sangeet, I wanted to the décor to be upbeat and colorful matching the natural ambiance of all that is a Sangeet. For the ceremony, I kept it traditional (red and gold) to match with the pious event of the Hindu ceremony. Lastly, the reception was a reflection of some of my favorite colors (eggplant, ivory, gold) so it was wonderful to tire it all together."
On shopping for her wedding lenghas:
"I did all my shopping from Ahmedabad and did a good amount of research before I left. I looked into designers Anamika Khanna and Studio Virtues (Ashish and Viral). I landed in Ahmedabad around 6AM and was out shopping by 11AM. I ended up doing a mix and match style lengha for my Sangeet form Studio Virtues that still remains my favorite outfit to date."
