The bride on her wedding outfits:
"Believe it or not, my wedding outfits were chosen in 2 hrs. I had gone to India for just 10 days during my 4th year in dental school. I spent any free time I had on Pinterest before heading to India. I knew I wanted traditional wedding colors ( Red, Green, and White) before heading to India. However, when I arrived to Prapti Mehta's studio, I tried on a Pink Lengha for the hell of it and just made a WOW statement. I didn't think twice, I told my designer that I wanted her to design a Pink Lengha. I was a little hesitant about coming back to Chicago and communicating with her via Whatsapp throughout the whole process (designing details cut), but I trusted her taste and the clothes turned out absolutely amazing"
On a special moment:
"The most magical moment was when my brothers and my uncles walked me in my Dholi. I had butterflies in my stomach, as we got closer to the mandap, I saw tears of joy and pride in the eyes of my parents, and as I looked around my mother in law and of course my closest friends holding back their tears. That is when it hit me that I am getting married."
On a special song:
"Yes, we danced to "Jeena Jeena" by Atif Aslam from the movie Badlapur. I am a total Bollywood Diva, so when both my husband and I heard this song for the first time, we looked at each other and at the same time said "Hey this should be our first song!" Lol. We didn't think twice and just went with this song."
On her hair and make-up:
"I already had a style in mind for hair and makeup. I wanted a simple look for the wedding and something bolder for the reception.
Wedding: I felt that my outfit along with all the ornaments were quite heavy, I wanted to simplify my makeup, so that I didn't look Gaudy with excessive makeup. Throughout the whole makeup and hair process, my husband's only input was "Do not look like a clown." I tried to do just that.
Reception: I had a white dress, and barely any jewelry- so I went with a bolder look with my hair and makeup. My favorite part of my reception look was the blue orchids in my hair."
On the special details:
Our friends and families were our biggest support. They were present for every wedding planning meeting we had. None of my events would have been possible without them. From coming to the house at random hours of the day, to meetings lasting till 2:00am. They really put in their all and we cannot thank them enough"
On her vendors:
"Mehndi: I am a huge Mehndi fan. My favorite type of Mehndi is traditional detailed mehndi. Once again Pinterest was my best friend, I had found a few designs that I liked, and my Mehndi artist Darshana did a great job with all of the details
Flowers: My mom is a part-time florist. She makes garlands and does flower décor for wedding in Atlanta. I didn't even have to think about flowers, she added her charm to every flower bouquet and other flower arrangements throughout the wedding.
Cake: We wanted to keep the cake simple. Believe it or not, our first 3 layers of our cake were fake, only the bottom tier of the cake was real. We used 2 different flavors of sheet cake, that we cut up into individual slices and served them at our dessert bar at our reception."
I'll see you next time dolls! 'Til the next wedding!
