Welcome back, Maharanis! For part two of Priya and Matt's Indian fusion wedding, we're starting with details from the Hindu ceremony held at the Courtyard Philadelphia Downtown. Our Indian bride wore a sparkling gold open-shirt lengha with a red dupatta that added the perfect pop of color. She was glitzy and glamorous from head to toe, with makeup accented with Rhinestones by John O, a tikka with large jewels, vibrant churis, and matching kalira. Her bridal party was also stunning, with makeup by Glamour Eyes! For the reception, she switched into a navy blue and gold lengha that matched the fabulous venue, the Curtis Center. Studio Nine Photography + Cinema captured jaw-dropping photos of the venue, which Platinum Dream Events, DJ RAJ Entertainment & Event Lighting, and FabuFloras transformed into an image from a modern-day fairytale. The romantic candlelit tablescapes coupled with the lavish chandeliers set the mood for this extravagant and elegant event. DJ RAJ Entertainment & Event Lighting also provided lighting on the dancefloor, where they kept everyone moving all night! From Maharani Priya on choosing her lengha:
"When choosing a lengha for the ceremony, the only thing I knew for sure was that I didn't want to be head to toe in red, like Hindu brides traditionally are. I was really drawn to the idea of champagnes, whites and golds with potentially having a pop of red somewhere (which we ended up doing with my Chunni) to make it more bridal. My mom and I traveled to Delhi, the December before the wedding, to go wedding shopping. After flying on two red-eye flights and having a whirlwind, 12-hour exploration of London, we finally landed in Delhi. Feeling exhausted and anxious, my mom and I went out shopping soon after, and the first lengha I tried on that day was the one I wore for the ceremony! So, in the end it was definitely worth it!"
On the most magical moment from the wedding:
"For us, the most amazing part of the the wedding was the Baraat. We were able to shut down a street next to City Hall, right in the heart of Philly. The energy and excitement were palpable. It was such an amazing way to start out the day's celebrations. DJ Raj and DJ Amlan, from DJ Raj Entertainment, did a phenomenal job of pumping up the crowd and our planners, Platinum Dream Events, even surprised us with a Drone!"
Meet us here again tomorrow for a dazzling Indian wedding!
