Happy Friday, Maharanis! We're ending the week with a super gorgeous New York City Indian wedding, marvellously planned by Platinum Celebrations Inc.! The sensational shaadi began with a ceremony at the Golden Terrace Banquet Hall; House of Dipali created a magnificent, regal-looking mandap for the occasion! Of course, our blushing Indian bride Anita was also dazzling, with a custom lengha from Lotus Bazaar, fabulous hair by RetroCraze Salon & Spa and stunning jewelry -- including a sparkling parandi we adored! Check out all of MaxPhoto NY's incredible photos below and in the full gallery to see all the magic for yourselves!
Maharani Anita on meeting her Raja and how she knew he was "the one":
"He's the boy next door..literally (no for real! He was my neighbor!)! I've known Rajesh for close to 20 years, and in that time frame we become good friends and inevitably when we were teenagers we started dating. I can't pinpoint the exact moment that I realized he was the one but from the very beginning I always had a strong feeling he'd be my husband one day...and now he is!"
On the romantic proposal:
"We were on a family vacation with my parents in Barbados and I remember I was so angry at him because since we had gotten to the resort he was going off with my dad 'exploring' ... little did I know what he had planned for me! We were at a nice restaurant and had just finished eating dinner when the waitress came over with complimentary drinks (all I was thinking is that this place is all inclusive...isn't everything complimentary?). She asked me to get up and moved my chair to the middle of the room and asked me to sit. After I sat down with a confused look on my face she said, 'This man has something special to ask you.' At that moment I finally realized what was going on! He said this beautiful speech about how special and important I was to him and he got down on one knee, and asked me to marry him! With many tears of joy and a full heart I barely choked out a 'Yes! Yes! Yes!' What made it the most special was that he had asked my parents permission for my hand in marriage and they were all in on the secret (down to hiding the ring when we went through security at the airport) before he proposed! What a gentleman!"
On her wedding style:
"For our Hindu wedding I wanted Rajesh to have a very big part in picking the colors and theme of our big day. We decided on red and blue, in honor of his favorite superhero Superman! With extensive help from my close friend and wedding planner Shiv (Platinum Celebrations) he managed to turn our vision into everything we could have possibly dreamed of! House of Dipali turned our Hindu Wedding into something out of a Bollywood movie! For our reception we went with my favorite color... pink! We wanted everything to look classy and elegant. With the help of Elegant Floral Design our centerpieces were gorgeous and classy and our stage decor was absolutely breathtaking! Our beautiful cake by Cakes by Stefania was not only delicious but a masterpiece on it's own. It was a dream come true!"
On her favorite part of planning:
"I enjoyed that I was able to make all the important decisions about my big day but I was able to leave all of the details up to my friend/wedding planner Shiv! It really alleviated the stress most brides go through in the wedding planning process!"
On choosing her lengha:
"I spent a lot of time googling my perfect wedding lengha with no luck since my ideas were so specific! Shiv introduced me to Kavita of Lotus Bazaar and she listened to everything I wanted in my wedding lengha and had it specially made for me in India. It was everything I could of dreamed of and more. I loved it so much I seriously considered wearing it around the house!"
We'll enjoy the stunning wedding cake from Cakes by Stefania at the reception when we return!
