Happy Friday! Today at Maharani Weddings we head to the Courtyard Dallas DFW Airport North/Grapevine in Dallas, Texas for one of the most enchanting weddings I have ever seen! I was completely blown away by the decorations by Divine Decor of Dallas. Maharani Akisha’s mandap looked like the inside of Cinderella's carriage! The most important aspect is definitely the lighting when you want to create a dreamlike ambiance, and DJ Riz Entertainment did an excellent job in portraying a fairy tale appearance. Akisha’s event included a colorful sangeet, wedding, and reception. BothLomesh Photography who shot the event, and The One Event, who was in charge with planning the festivities, did a superb job! Digital Shaadi Films was on board to film all the events. There are many more pics to peruse, head into the gallery for more delightful inspiration and see below for details from Akisha on planning her special day.
How did you meet your Raja and when did you know he was "the one"?
Pavan and I met in college our freshman year. We were together for 7 years prior to the wedding. We went through major events in life together from multiple graduations, to losing loved ones to celebrating first jobs. Our relationship has been a growing experience and we made it work even over long distances for multiple years. His character and commitment to family values is what told me this is the man I want to marry. Pavan will be there for anyone and has a true heart of gold. He has dropped everything to help me move into a new place, he has driven hours to make sure I have a homemade dinner before a final exam, he was in the ER with my grandma 5 hours before our wedding. There wasn't just one moment, that made me say, "Ya, ok he's the one." Over the last 7 years, there are so many moments in which I know this guy is definitely "the one" for me.
Do you have a super romantic proposal story or engagement memory?
Pavan recreated the date he said "I love you" for our proposal. He originally had taken me to Iron Cactus in downtown Dallas and then dessert at reunion tower where we got a skyline view of the city. At the end of the night, he said I love you at a small park bench near reunion tower and fireworks randomly started going off. Of course, he said he planned it and I smiled back saying ok I guess I love you too then. The night of the proposal, we had dinner and dessert in the same way, he brought me back to the same park bench and instead of fireworks, this time it was a beautiful engagement ring.
Tell us about your wedding style. When you sat down to really figure out how your dream wedding would look, did you start with one central color, a palette of colors, or a theme that served as your inspiration?
A theme served as inspiration, I wanted all the events leading up to the wedding to be just full of color and the wedding itself a garden theme. The hall had the smell of fresh flowers everywhere and purple/green tones to complement the enchanted feel. As for the reception, I wanted something lavish to offset the garden theme from earlier. Waterfall on stage, tall cake, large willow arrangements on tables along with crush/golden tablecloths gave that vision life.
Looking back, was there a really special moment that you remember from your wedding that stands out as the most magical?
Our first look, Pavan whispered in my ear saying, "I'm so lucky to have you, I love you so much". That's the only time I teared up during the wedding. Definitely a moment that will stay with me forever.
Tune in to see the blue and gold ensemble the bride and groom donned on their reception day!
