Maharanis, we have the perfect wedding to share with you on this Valentine’s Day! We’re featuring Kavya and Matt’s special weekend, which took place at the Stonebridge Ranch Country Club and Omni Las Colinas, and was an incredibly romantic affair photographed by the amazing William Bichara Photography. We start with Maharani Kavya looking radiant at her mehndi, with her henna expertly applied by Samira’s Henna Designs. We absolutely love the lush flower garlands adorning her hair during the mehndi ceremony - they framed her face so beautifully, and she looked perfectly angelic in hair and makeup by Lindsay Massaro. The decor for Katya and Matt’s ceremony, executed to perfection by Elegant Affairs, with planning done by Shelley K Events, was so otherworldly. We were awestruck by their gorgeous mandap, with intricate pink, white, and purple draping, sparkling chandeliers, lighting by DJ Riz Entertainment, and magnificent wisteria flowers lining the entirety of the interior. This was definitely one of my very favorite mandaps ever - Just looking at it puts me in the Valentine’s spirit! We adored revisiting every moment of these celebrations - Every aspect of the weekend looked like a fairytale. Please check back to see more from this adorable couple’s ceremony and reception! In the meantime, you can take a look at the complete gallery!
How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Matt and I met through a mutual friend and we became good friends quickly afterwards. I would love to say there was this one moment in time where I just KNEW he was the one. But there wasn't just one moment; there were so many little moments throughout our relationship. Moments where we'd watch B rated movies, relax on the back porch or just listen to music, where I'd realize that we simply belonged together. I know its cliche to say I married my best friend; but, I married my best friend.
Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
It was New Year's Eve. We were celebrating with some friends and family at our house. At about 5 minutes before midnight, Matt looks at the clock and, much to my confusion, frantically starts pouring champagne and serving to our guests. We all gathered around the television and began counting down. As soon as the ball dropped, I turned to wish Matt a Happy New Year and found myself staring at him, ring in his hand, asking me to marry him. It was perfect.
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
The first thing I did was look for a wedding planner. I searched various wedding websites and social media and came across Shelley K. She is simply amazing. She assisted us in finding the majority of our other vendors, including Elegant Affairs and DJ Riz, who were both incredible. Elegant Affairs worked with us to create the perfect decor. DJ Riz had everyone dancing and taking part in the festivities. I actually found my mehndi artist through Maharani Weddings. Samira's work was featured in Maharani Magazine as she was the winner of the 2015 Mehndi Competition. She is so incredibly talented and I'm thankful I was able to find her.
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
So many of our guests commented on the beautiful decor. They said the mandaap was stunning and they were so impressed by the reception decor as well. I was even told it looked like a fairy tale.
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Absolutely! Right before the reception, Matt and I snuck into the ballroom to see the decor and take some pictures. Our breath was taken away at how beautiful it was. We felt like little kids, laughing in pure joy, climbing up on the stage to admire it all and take it all in. The entire ballroom was empty except for a our photographers and our DJ. We stood on the dance floor, smiling and relishing in the moment. Then Matt took my hand and we started dancing. No music and not a care in the world. As if right on cue, our DJ dimmed the lights and began playing our first dance song, Unforgettable by Nat King Cole. And we danced, just the two of us, in an elegantly decorated ballroom. Simply amazing and definitely unforgettable.
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Try to take some time to enjoy everything going on around you and have some fun, because it really does go by in a flash. Live in the moment and try not to stress about all the details, because no matter what goes wrong or right; you still get to marry your soulmate.
Such good advice from Kavya! We'll see you very soon Marahanis!
