For Maharani Asma and her hubby Aamir it was all about the glam! To ensure they had their dream come true celebration, this duo brought on planning mavens from Events by Hala and the decor masterminds from Décor One by Nalini to make theirs an event styled to perfection. Between the enormous blush centerpieces, artistic sweetheart stage, and oodles of draping, the The Ritz Carlton venue resembled a romantic oasis of breathtaking amor. Make sure to take note of the luscious tablescapes featuring twinkling candles, lush florals, golden accessories, and so many more inspiration touches! And of course, the most beautiful part of the celebration was Asma, who was beautified by Ms Painted Lady and chose a sweet white and pink lehenga accessorized by glamorous jewels by Signature Diamonds. Such a showstopping look! After the couple made their buoyant entrance, the night was a nonstop party of delicious bites, mouthwatering cake, and heartfelt speeches. The night soon descended into the dance party of our dreams as DJ Riz Entertainment started their pulsating beats. This wedding is chock full of inspirational details, so take a peek at the full gallery where VEK Photo has captured all the magic. How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Aamir (the groom) and I met at a summer camp in 2012 when we were both counselors. We were just friends and didn't keep in touch too much until the next year when I visited Houston (where he lives). I'm from Dallas and didn't really know anyone in Houston so he showed me around and we really hit it off. There was one story where I was sitting on his kitchen counter in the apartment he lived in, and when I was trying to come down, I accidentally broke the drawer. Ah! So embarrassing! But guess what, he saved that drawer and knew that it would come in handy one day. On our reception day, he told the embarrassing story in a surprise speech to me and then he brought out the drawer! The ACTUAL drawer that I broke! The rest is history! :)
Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Wow, I don't know if I can correctly express the amazingness of the proposal, but I'll give it a try. We also have a video that I'll link below.
It was a week before our two year anniversary. My sister-in-law had just started a new job so she said that we wanted to do a family dinner to celebrate. We had just bought a new dress a couple of weeks ago when we went shopping together so she told me to wear that one! When we pulled up to the parking, and started walking to the "restaurant", I saw a videographer, and was a little confused. We walked into the door of a event space, apparently the restaurant was through the event space. But when I walked in, I saw a huge staircase and rose petals all over it! (Apparently there were more than 500 rose petals used to decorate the space!) My family pushed me up the stairs, with me stopping every few because I figured out what was going on and was freaking out! I finally get up the stairs and see my now husband, Aamir, on the piano with a big smile on his face. He starts playing the piano, singing our favorite Adnan Sami song, Tera Chera. This song is super special to us because every time he plays it in the car, he makes me listen to the words and tells me that's how he feels about me. It basically says that no matter what happens, if the earth stops, my face is what will keep him going. So he was playing the song on the piano, and then started singing it!! I was amazed! Then, I look over to the left and see all of our friends and family taking pictures, and just documenting the entire thing. One thing I always wanted is for my friends and family to be there during my proposal or at least after to share the moment with me. Once Aamir finished the song, the WHOLE song (LOL), he took me to another part of the room that had a heart made of rose petals, got down on one knee, and proposed. It was a night I will never forget!
See video here! My description definitely did not do justice.
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
The best thing we did was to hire the best wedding planner, Events by Hala. She made the experience seamless for us! She picked out a few vendors for each based upon our style, and then we picked. She knew exactly how to make our stress level stay low, and always knew exactly what to say and do to make our wedding spectacular.
We were beyond happy with all of our vendors. Everyone made us feel so special, so welcome, and so calm. I have to say that I was so incredibly calm during the entire wedding because I knew everything in the back end was being taken care of by an amazing team of vendors.
Venues were very important to us - we chose Sambuca for the Mehndi, the Altitude at the W for the Pithi and Sangeet, and the Ritz Carlton Dallas for the Reception. All venues were close to each other in the heart of Dallas.
Hair and Makeup was done by Ms. Painted Lady. I would recommend her to everyone! She was so knowledgeable, so great to work with, and just made me feel and look like the most beautiful bride.
Decor was by Decor One - Nalini Kannan. The best thing about Nalini is that she literally took my Pinterest wedding board and brought it to life. I was a little confused on what I wanted the decor to look like but she could tell my style and made everything come to life; She even made my house look beautiful!
Photo was done by Vinnie at VEK Photo - his style is simply amazing and we got such great pictures, such great service, and were so happy with working with him. When we first met him, we knew that he would understand what we want, and get us the best shots, which is exactly what we got!
Beyond did our video and their service was amazing, their videographers were so welcoming and fun, and we are so happy with our 5 minute edit. Can't wait to see our full edit. See 5 min video here.
Lastly, our DJ. I wouldn't recommend anyone but DJ Riz Entertainment. He and him team definitely delivered. They went above and beyond on everything we wanted, giving us lighting, the best music, and even more entertainment for the guests. They were able to play every type of music we wanted and really got the crowd hyped on the dance floor until the very end of every night. Even though music was important and we were happy with it, it was the service and the heart that they put in that made them the best!
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
When thinking about my outfits, I had a lot in mind. There were so many different styles that were on Pinterest boards, throughout my photos on my phone, and floating through my head. I went around to places both in Dallas and Houston, but couldn't find what I was looking for. So my mom and I made the decision to go to Pakistan and see all the latest styles and hopefully find the perfect outfits. We had a total of 7 days in Pakistan, 1 day was Sunday so nothing opened until 2pm, and one day was a holiday and everything was closed. 5 days to get everything done was a tough task, but I found what I was looking for! I ordered all of my outfits for every event! The Mehndi and Sangeet outfit was from a designer named Layla Chatoor, and the reception outfit was from a designer named Sana Safinaz. I always knew I wanted something colorful for the Sangeet, but wasn't picky on colors. And for the reception, I wanted something light and pastel for my reception outfit and that's exactly what I got! Light pink and white - and pink just happens to be my favorite color! :)
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
I think being able to make all of our dreams into a reality was the best part. Working with Aamir and figuring out what we want, and showing that to Hala, and her making it happen was the best part! I know that if I didn't have a wedding planner, the process would have been a nightmare. I definitely recommend getting a wedding planner to all my friends that are planning a wedding!
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
I think what guests loved the most is that we tried to make everything different, while still sticking to our roots, tradition, and culture. I think they also liked that they could tell this was Asma & Aamir's wedding. The details had our style written all over it.
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Although Aamir's speech was very special, what really replays in my mind is my dad's speech. One thing that my mom, dad and I did every night when I was unmarried and living with them was drink green tea. So in his speech, he ended it with, "Now, every night, we will have a new ingredient in our tea - our tears while we miss Asma".
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Hire a wedding planner, and enjoy the process and your wedding! Don't let things bother you on the weekend of. People are constantly looking at you- and you should be genuinely having fun. One thing that I noticed in the 5 minute video edit is that both Aamir and I looked so happy the entire time.
Also, make sure you choose vendors that you get along with and are comfortable with. You want to be able to show them your vision and trust that they will make it come true.
So sweet! See you all bright and early with another fab wedding!
